You immediately feel as though you're on vacation.. . Front windows open and patrons on the patio. To one's left, three fermenters prominently positioned on the western wall suggesting we are here for business and here are the badges of years of mastery. My wife and I took seats at a table on the eastern wall, immediately under the blackboard recommending the beer-of-the-day. A young man (being a senior, who isn't a young man to me) came to table and we quickly belched up the recalled goodies which we had seen on the on-line menu. We began with the onion rings. These are the most scrumptious morsels that you find this side of heaven!!! The light batter enhanced the large onions which echoed the old Lays potato chip challenge, "I'll bet you can't eat just one!". Three Amigos, a spinach-mushroom empanada, a ham and cheese empanada and a hamburger empanada. We felt like we died and went to heaven!I I "wuffed" own the splendidly brewed, golden beer and grinned triumphantly. And finally,? We,stuffed to the gill, and ready to wobble home,, ordered a giant pretzel. Speaking to your stomach , and you can listen in, promise not to tell anyone, but Midnight Owl is worth the pleasure. R. Coyoacan Taqueria & Brew - Ah, heavenly birria tacos!

Coyoacan Taqueria & Brew

We had to have our taco fix, and we love takeout from Coyoacán Taqueria in Shaker Square (Dec…read more2025). We pulled into the alley behind the restaurant, and went in for some favorites. I always get their birria tacos, savory tender meat in grilled corn double-layer-tortillas, juicy, with seared cheese and tangy cilantro, additional consommé on the side for dipping and pouring. It's salty and richly-seasoned, a three handfuls of messy deliciousness for $14! If you want to congratulate me, it's the first time i didnt spill the sauce on myself :-). Pro-tip: Lean forward over your plate, and shield yourself with lots of napkins! And wear a complicated brown pattern. We got pairs of $4.24 gently-spiced flavorful pork spit-roasted pastor tacos, and roasted beef asada, and chipotle chinga chicken, all smothered in shredded cheese and lettuce and veggies. They gave us sides of red and green salsas to splash around. We got tasty tender black beans and orange Méxican rice, and lovely bright semi-sweet semi-spicy fresh guacamole and plenty of thin crispy fresh-made chips. You can order pre-planned tacos or have them built-to-order. The menu has luscious-looking $4.50 tamals, $11 bowls burritos and quesadillas, $12 salads including one with cactus, $7 kids' meals, $5 and $5.50 Méxican and domestic beers, $10 margaritas, and a selection of $2 - $4 Méxican and domestic soft drinks and coffee. The staff is friendly and efficient at Rey's family-run legacy Coyoacán restaurant, named after a historic village and modern borough in México City, "the land of coyotes", humanity's "elder brother". The food tastes fresh and made-with-care. It's a good location just a two-minute walk from a Rapid Blue-Line and Green-Line station. And if you prefer, you can dine-in in their brightly decorated storefront. Oh! Don't forget $3.75-taco Tuesday!

I was able to try all of the aqua frescas, hibiscus was my favorite of the three options. The guacamole was so creamy and fresh, I couldn't get enough of it! I tasted the cactus salad and was pleasantly surprised, the flavor of the cacti was refreshing as well as the homemade dressing. I'm looking forward to eating at Luchita's when they open in the next couple weeks.

While I went on the run, my husband and kids enjoyed Voodoo's music bingo, they had a blast! The brewery had a great family-friendly vibe, lively atmosphere, and solid beer lineup. I joined them afterward, and decided to stay for a bit before going back next door...my daughter won bingo, earning us a $10 gift card (huge excitement for her). I tried a few of the IPAs and rated them 4/5 stars--good flavor, and they stood out compared to other Ohio beers I sampled during the week. Overall, top-notch place. I also loved their book ticket method for drinks--it kept things easy and fun--and the dive-bar vibe paired with the local ambiance made it feel like a true community spot. If I were local, this would absolutely be a go-to spot, especially paired with a post-run visit.

The pork belly and Brussels app would be so much better with a creamy sauce but still was good with the tart balsamic. The Brussels were perfectly crispy even though there were only 5 total pieces of small pork belly in the whole app. It was $10. It is very dark in the place on its own. Order at counter and pick up your food to sit where you want. Trivia on Wednesdays. The pulled pork meal was decent for $12. Fries were incredibly salty but perfectly sized to grab multiple at a time with a fork for easy mouth shoving. Pulled pork was kinda tough. The jalapeño slaw below the pork was peppery perfection! No dessert options.
