This is the brewery inside of the Van Aken District. First, what an awesome area. People were all over the place outside and inside frequenting the multiple businesses inside. Live music was being played outside which of course brought in tons of people. This particular location had a ton of beers to choose from. Many different styles. I felt as though they were lacking in the bourbon choices. They did not have vodka when I asked for my normal drink. So, if I were picky, that lack in the liquor selection in some ways. Service was good. The main person who helped was talkative, but quick to customers when they needed something. Very knowledgeable as well on the beers they offer. Worth the trip to visit here and the entire Van Aken District. read more

And I love that it was connected right to a parking garage (that is free to park in) if you don't park on the street. Wasn't busy the night I stopped in but it made for a chill evening. I can only imagine how loud this place gets on a busy day. Lots of drinks and drafts to choose from with almost all being local options. The one thing I will say this place could benefit from is the QR codes for menus. The Craft Collective is such a cool spot. We were looking for a place to meet up with a friend while we were visiting the Cleveland area and The Van Allen District and Craft Collective came up. We were a bit bummed after walking in, because all the businesses look so cool, but many closed earlier. We were still happy to enjoy some cold beers at Craft Collective and on its own, it's a great experience. They have indoor and outdoor seating and serve a great variety of beers on tap, they also have wine, alcoholic slushies and cocktails available. We opted to sit inside at the longer tables and hung out until close. We each tried a couple beers and they were delicious. The bartender was really nice and answered all our questions. Next time we visit we'll have to come earlier to check out more of the businesses and try some more beers. read more

The staff here is pretty seasoned and helpful when asking about beer and drinks. This is appreciated as not all bar tenders in CLE are at this level. They have music going and the cavs game playing on the 1 TV, when it's on. You are able to order food from the market hall and bring it in to eat with out an extra charge, This is a great dog friendly spot to bring a date, co workers or family to hang out. They often have good events going on. They allow kids 14+ as long as they are with an adult. They have good parking outside and outdoor seating. The best things about this place is the rotating taps they have. You can ALWAYS try something new. read more

Ordered Chocolate Stout...12oz. Got it in a fancy tiny goblet that was at best 8 oz, but pretty sure 6oz. I commented to bartender that that was a really small glass. He actually told me, "...these glasses hold a lot more than you think...". Was with a date and did not feel like making a scene, ordered a second glass since I knew I wanted more that this tiny "sipper cup" cup of a serving and actually gave a 20% tip. The Chocolate Stout is in the board as 12oz or 16...I got neither. Back at my table it started to bug me, hence this review. You either ripped me off or your staff doesn't know what ounces are. Fix it. Next time, if there is one, you'll hear it from me if you pull this again. read more

They have a good amount of seating inside And their own patio area, whcih can get crowded pretty quickly. Be sure to ask for a DORA cup so you can walk around or sit elsewhere in the market hall! I tried the sea glider, which was delicious but probably not worth it for the amount vs price. Next time, would stick with a beer or cider! Wonderful Vibe, setting, and interesting drink lineup. Disappointing that you can't sample the numerous drafts but you can purchase small pours to build a partial or full flight and then go from there. The entire market area is great inside and out and makes for a relaxed yet trendy spot for a snack or meal. I tried a dark lager and loved it - perfect Oktoberfest type of beer. I appreciated that I didn't have to get a single use plastic cup to go outside, baring that I stayed within the limits of the bars outdoor seating vs the rest of the venue. The other shopping and food adjacent to this watering hole makes this a win. Being dog friendly outside makes it even better! Can't wait to return! read more

Nothing remarkable about their brews here. I wasn't offered a taste sample, which is kinda important with unique beers. My choice was the only Belgian offered, a trippel, served as only 10 oz. I am a huge fan of Bottlehouse, so I was happy to hear that they had a side project opening in the Van Aken Shopping District. The shopping district itself has a number of food places and shops that I am excited to check out! Craft Collective has a similar ambiance as Bottlehouse (I've only been to the one on Lee Road, so I'm referencing that location), with the long tables with benches and the limited seating at the bar. I've always enjoyed their ciders and meads (all the sweeter things), but have been branching out to taste some of the other drinks on the menu - they offer flights, for those of you who like trying different ones without committing. They have a great range of different types of drinks, so whether you have a preference on a specific type of drink (i.e. something sweet), you'll be able to find it among their own brewed beers or from their guest list. They have a list of the meads, which I would highly recommend if you have not had mead before - caution that they are very sweet and have a high ABV, in case you drove. *Always just look at the menu on the wall to order, it is the most up-to-date rather than looking at their paper menus. Just like Bottlehouse, you are able to bring your own food in. But the best part about being a part of the Market Hall, is that you have all these food options to choose from right next to Craft Collective! Although Craft Collective is open later than most of the shops, you can get some grub if you arrive before 10 PM or so on most days. They have the tv behind the bar, so this could be a meet up for a more low key watch party. It can get pretty noisy if it is busy (or very quiet on the other hand) but if you wanted a more intimate setting, sitting at the bar is always a good choice. It is also a great location for larger groups, if you can snag a table. People are usually friendly, so sharing tables isn't the end of the world either. Other: Bathrooms are towards the back, to the right of the bar. The Shopping District has plenty of free parking available. Mitchell's is just across the road from Craft Collective too!! read more

I have experienced this in cleveland. But many of the larger cities have these thick Avanti in Denver. It's a collective. Craft beers and cocktails are what they have, and this is what you want. Craft Collective is go to spot in Cleveland if you're a beer/cocktail lover. There's a large rotating selection of craft beers from a diverse lineup of breweries, and a great seasonal cocktail menu. I always ask the bartender what they would recommend based on my mood or a flavor, and they have never steered me wrong. My recent favorite are the bottlehouse ciders! It's located within the Van Aken market hall, which is a unique indoor market with seating and lots of food vendors. As others have mentioned, you can bring in food from any of the vendors into the bar itself, and you can bring your drinks out from the bar into the hall and even the street in the summer! The larger market hall can get very busy on the weekends- it is a popular family spot and the tables outside are often full and loud. This place may have some great craft beers but the service is probably one of the worst I have ever seen. There is ONE yes ONE bartender and apparently they have a line that starts in the middle of the bar, but there are also people sitting at the bar as well so it is all sorts of a mess when you try to get a drink. I waited 45 minutes with a group of 4 people in front of me and a lady ended up jumping in front of 3 people and ordering her drinks by announcing she was ready to order. Talk about entitled, and no she was not in line before. The bartender was nice but the management really needs to rethink about how many bartenders they need at a busy establishment on a weekend. read more

Located inside the Market Hall at the Van Aken Shopping District in Shaker Heights, Craft Collective is a cool bar with lots of draft options collected from local breweries all over the city and some from across the country. While you can't take drinks outside of their space you can bring your food in here from any of the restaurants located inside the food hall and order a drink while you eat. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable about the draft list. While the overwhelming majority of drinks come from Cuyahoga County breweries and some from Columbus I ordered a name I recognized, but hadn't had in awhile all the way from San Francisco - Anchor Steam Beer. The menu also had some ciders and meads. The Metropolis Mead at 15.5% ABV was really good. The menu said it was made with black currant, blueberry, apples and spices. I swear I smelled beets, but whatever the contents it was smooth and delicious. The bartender said they have a great off menu cocktail made with that mead as well. read more

Great Place! Bartenders were very friendly and had very fast service. They don't offer any food, but you are able to bring food in from the surrounding food places inside market hall. The prices were not cheap but they were very reasonable. We had a four bourbon sampler that was the special for the evening and was made locally in chagrin falls. The flavors were different but enjoyable, and the distiller of the bourbon came over to introduce himself and talk to us about the flavors and his brewery.. All around good atmosphere! Hum, I don't like to give a marginal review so I'll at least start with a positive note... they have a prime space in the Van Aden Market and space out on a patio. We visited during lunch with family on a Saturday and they were not busy. If you care to keep reading here are the negative notes: 1. I ask to sample one IPA and I was told "they do not do samples" (never had a tap house or brewery tell me that before), 2. One millennial in our party had a one year old with her and we were told "we could not sit inside with the child" (we have never been sent out of any tap house or brewery before), 3. When the bar tender spun the tablet around for the tip options the choice was 20% 25% and 30% for pouring 4 drafts, (I fell that is a bit presumptuous). The investors should really pay more attention to their lunch time demographics. I say "Three strikes your out"... read more

I have only heard good things about this place. Venue was ok, bartender was subpar, and seemed unaware of how customer service works. I showed up on a Sunday afternoon and decided to try a flight. I ordered 4 beers and asked some specific questions about one, as I like IPAs but was unsure about a "rye ipa". The bartender provided somewhat uninformative description, and I moved forward with my choices. The rye ipa was undrinkable to my taste palate. When I asked the bartender to switch it out, he told me "I will have to charge you. That's how flights work, you try it and if you don't like it that's how it goes." I don't know why a bartender would choose to have this awkward encounter over 3oz of beer from a keg, not to mention the flight was a pricey $12, but that's why I probably won't be returning anytime soon. read more

A cool bar located inside of the Van Aken Market Hall, Craft Collective has more than 20 beers, ciders, and meads on tap and many more cocktails and wines. I really appreciate their effort to carry local beers, ciders, and meads. They even carry local wines including Cleveland Urban Winery and M Cellars. It was a quiet Tuesday night. I just wanted to enjoy a couple of beers with my friend at dinner. Per the bartender's recommendation (one he thought very highly of), we ordered 2 beers. The first came out in two parts - 90% in a glass and 10% in a plastic cup. I proceeded to drink the smaller amount and was completely dissatisfied with the taste. Unfortunately, the bartender denied me the basic customer service of a complimentary exchange. Next was my friends turn - the bartender poured his beer in a much smaller cup, much like that which is served on an airplane. We were both dumbfounded, yet the bartender was completely content to charge us $8 for this smaller cup of utterly tasteless beer. We will not be back. read more
