While this is a fairly sparse mom and pop flower/convenience shop on the Drive, they have decent orchids for under $20 (perhaps it's stating the obvious, but get the ones with the buds still closed as they'll last longer than the ones already in bloom). I had a similar one stay in bloom for almost 5 months, and recently bought one here in a spontaneous post-dinner urge to get some fresh color amid all of this wintry gray.
What I most appreciated was the shopkeeper's willingness to chat orchid care talk with me for a good 5 minutes. Not sure if she's in there all of the time, but she was very patient in telling me how to trim back my old, now non-flowering orchid so that it would re-bloom again. In this age of all too frequently sullen counter staff at markets like this, she was a breath of fresh air.
Not sure that I'd deliberately seek this spot out, but if the flower urge strikes when I'm in the neighborhood again, I'd definitely pop in to check out their current wares. read more
