Picked up bloop bloop on my way home and loved it! The inside is small with limited seating but I think Bloop Bloop is really grab and go. There are two kiosks inside that you order on and then your number pops up on the screen of it being in process and when it's ready. I got 8 different kinds of balls and they were delicious! And for a $1 each it is such a deal. I will be back!

Didn't realize this place was only two doors down from my fav taqueria in the city. I love sushi, so who was I to say no when they're $1 each? Decided to order mine on one of two touchscreen kiosks available. They had the sushi balls, boats, onigiri, varieties. Decided on the balls and an iced mango latte to go. My order was done quick and I couldn't wait to get home and have my late lunch. Ratio wise, I'd say it's more 3:1 on rice to protein; it's like the lovechild of a sushi and an onigiri. The sauce overpowered the sushi (misleading as the pics didn't show the balls would be slathered in these spicy sauces) and I wouldn't say the fish was fresh...but these were $1 so expectations should not be too high. I think I picked 6 different sushi but they all tasted kind of the same because of the sauce, bummer! The mango latte was alright, and I noticed the drinks were automatically made by this tea making machine. Overall, the sushi looked a lot better in pictures. If you wanted something to fill you up quick for cheap and you're not a sushi connoisseur, then this should hit the spot for you. Sad that my order didn't come in the cute Bloop Bloop boxes; I was looking forward to that, haha! Also, careful as the booth stools were kinda wobbly. Sit at your own risk!

Various sushi, including dessert sesame balls (super tasty) - Three boxes of sushi and dessert are arranged on a round wooden table, accompanied by a potted plant and a black bag, with people standing around.

We were in town celebrating our daughter graduating the Navy and she wanted to try this cute spot. Each sushi piece was carefully crafted, very fresh, and tasty. Service was quick. A nice way to try several sushi without breaking the bank. And the way they served and presented the sushi is absolutely adorable. I would definitely go back and try other items on the menu when I'm back in Chicago

The pricing at Bloop Bloop is favorable, as their whole thing is $1 sushi balls. They do have other options, but on my visit, I only sampled the sushi balls. I did shrimp, eel and octopus rice balls. The eel was not spicy, but the other two were. I am a spice wimp, so I was downing water with the shrimp and octopus. I am probably just an old fuddy duddy, but I wish they had menus posted in the place instead of just QR codes. I don't balk at this approach at sit-down places, but Bloop Bloop only has a few stools and a counter, so the focus is not at all on dining-in. They do have stands for ordering, but they were not functional during my visit. There were signs on the screens for the QR code. I did appreciate that I did not have to enter my card number and could pay at the counter instead. They seem to move orders through at a decent pace. Bloop Bloop doesn't open until 2pm, which seems odd, as this is more of a lunch type place than what's for dinner.

Recommendations: * Salmon Rice Ball * Eel Rice Ball * red snappers Rice Ball I first saw this restaurant trending on Instagram and TikTok, so we decided to give it a try. We ordered six pieces of rice ball and a lemon tea through the self-service kiosk. Some of the triangular rice balls were unavailable, so we focused on the $1 rice balls instead. We tried salmon, snapper, eel, and scallop--each one was flavorful and fresh. The rice balls were made with the right amount of sushi vinegar, which is the traditional way of preparing sushi rice. This extra touch elevated the taste and brought out the freshness of the fish. They are slightly larger than traditional sushi, but surprisingly enjoyable, especially with the added mayo and soy sauce mixed with wasabi. Each order comes in a box, with about 5 to 6 rice balls inside. The lemon tea was refreshing and reminded me of Hong Kong style lemon tea, though the tea flavor could be stronger. We went with 25% sweetness, which felt balanced. The only downsides were the long wait time, we waited about 20 minutes, and the limited seating. There are only four window seats, so if it is full, I recommend grabbing your sushi box and enjoying it at the nearby park.

Pretty good sushi, especially for the price point. Worth a try for sure! Service was quick, and there is a small cozy vibe.

The food here is pretty good for a dollar. Of course the balls are mostly rice and sauce but I think this place is the perfect place for a snack. The fish we received was not super high quality but also not terrible. Service was alright, we ordered through kiosk and the staff working in the front did not greet us or interact with us. The restaurant is fairly small but was clean. Not sure if I would come back but definitely worth trying at least once.

Top to bottom: Gunkan Sushi ball, Octopus Leg Sushi Ball, White Tuna Sushi Ball, Red Tuna Sushi Ball, Salmon Sushi Ball, Shrimp Sushi Ball

I am really excited about this restaurant I think they just need more time to get the flow of things and I truly am hoping for the best for them. I ordered the Salmon ball, Octopus ball, Red tuna, White tuna, Shrimp, and Gunkan (my favorite). Not sticky rice it didn't hold shape and fell apart as I ate it, but the toppings were good. They didn't give me anything to eat it with (like chopsticks) and I didn't see anywhere to grab those. It seemed they should start prepping before opening by at least making all the rice balls prior then topping them as the orders come through, if possible. I waited for well over an hour for 6 sushi balls and watched other people cancel orders. I think they just need a better system and I want to come back in a few months to try again. Since there are no tables, my experience was mostly a bunch of customers standing and blindly waiting for their number to be called since we can't see them being made. They have one worker making drinks at the register and what seemed like just one worker in the back making the food. The mango tea latte was yummy with popping boba but not a fan of the large mango chunks at the bottom. The removable top is good idea so you're not fighting to get everything off the bottom. Overall, would come back to try again after they've figured out a better system and will update when I do! Hoping for the best!!

fun lil spot for quick taste of sushi and snack! i really like this concept of $1 a sushi ball bite. tried the salmon, white tuna, squid, and scallop rice ball and a unagi inari. they are all pretty rice heavy compared to fish ratio, but they are all sauced up which helps keep each bite flavorful! soy sauce wasn't needed. the food came out relatively fast in very cute packaging. would come back!

Sushi balls for only $1?! The sign and the wacky inflatable lumberjack definitely caught my eye and I had to stop in to see for myself. This sushi place is mainly for takeout as there is only one rectangular wooden bar height table with 4 stools against one wall. You place your order at the two kiosks and just wait for your number to be called. The packaging for the drinks and the sushi balls are super cute. I really liked the elaborate red cup that my strawberry refreshing tea with yakult boba came in. I was also surprised to see that there were also onigiris and meat skewers on the menu but were not available at the time that I visited. I ordered a variety of salmon, eel, white tuna, smoked salmon, seeweed and octopus balls. I'll definitely have to come back earlier in the day to hopefully try the skewers and onigiri. This restaurant is definitely a great value.

We wanted to have some sake and asked for help. Their sommelier was very helpful and recommended the Snow Tiger Yuki Tora which is unfiltered and looks like milk, but it went beautifully with our food. We started with Edamame which had a perfect char. The grilled Avocado was a pleasant surprise with the char flavor and great spicy sauce. You get a spoon to scoop out the avocado and it's sliced so it works with chop sticks. By the way everything is great for sharing which gives everyone a chance to try the wonderful menu. Then we attacked the main menu. The Wagyu Nigiri, the must have Bluefin Tuna Crispy Rice, Crispy Spring Rolls and I drank the juice with the Hamachi and Lemon. Now it's time to figure what's next! spicy Tuna roll, triple tuna roll, the incredible Wild Mushroom sizzling rice bowl and it is sizzling! We're nearing the end! The Unagi and the Black Cod couldn't have been any better. It melted in our mouths. Think we're finished, we saved room for dessert! The Miru-Ishi and Black Sesame Mochi. We're finished! Maria was a great server and was very attentive!

My only critique is the pacing. Since the chef already had the fish sliced and prepped, I expected a smoother flow, but the meal took about an hour and a half for 14 pieces of sushi. It felt a bit slow, especially for a lunch service. That said, if you're looking for a reasonably priced omakase with quality fish, this is a solid choice.

Both were great. Our bartenders were lovely and very friendly. Found out this is a Malort tasting room and we were able to sample some different Malorts (the cocoa one was good!). Then we were taken back to our table for dinner. Our server was super friendly as well. Started with the miso soup and crispy tuna bites which were probably my favorite dishes. The taki yoki fritters weren't bad either. We saw people getting omakase, so we ordered a yummy looking piece they were receiving. It was just okay (chutoro truffle). The nigiri was also okay. The tuna piece was the only I really loved. The fish quality wasn't as high as I was expecting. The sushi was decent. A little too much truffle in the spicy blue fin tuna and a little too vegetable forward in the hamachi serrano. All in all, the atmosphere and amazing service pushed this up to a 4 for me.
