The store is merchandised well but very poor customer service. I had an experience where the clerk ran up my item for more than it was marked. When I brought to her attention, she never acknowledged the mistake but said she would give me a discount. When I explained I would pay the ticketed price plus tax, she said 'sorry I can't do that.' I can discount the item, and you pay the difference. I explained that it was not my error, so it made sense for the store to pay for the difference. She had nothing else to offer except to 'sorry, you have to pay the difference'. She did not offer to hold the item and soeak to the manager. I told her she would lose a sale over something trivial, and that was apparently ok. What a disappointment! The store claims to have a variety of sizes, but when I arrived I was told they had two bras that may fit. Neither of them fit. The two young staff members were very unprofessional. At first I couldn't tell if they worked there or not, no name tags, no greeting when I walked in. I asked to be measured and the young woman who did it seemed to be bothered by the request. If it's such a difficult thing to size a middle age not skinny woman, it should not be advertised. I did the logo for this store, so I don't know if that breaks the Yelp TOS. I don't work there, though. Bloomers opened in October, and specializes in sleepwear, lounge wear and lingerie. The store carries lines like Eberjey, Hanky Panky, Mary Green, The Cat's Pajamas, Splendid, Hue, Miss Oops!, etc. Think along the lines of Nordstrom-grade underpinnings. In fact, Bloomers is a decent stand-in for Nordstrom--they carry nearly all the same underthing brands--save for the fact that the selection pales in comparison in the true fashion of local boutiques vs. big chain department stores. read more

3 stars only because the first time I went in, the girl was friendly, at least. That time I was just looking for some inserts for a special occasion. The more recent time, I was incredibly disappointed. I stopped in looking for a strapless bra about two weeks ago, asked my size (I told her 30DD, and was clear that this was a sister size of my usual 28E) and was promptly told they didn't carry that, but that I was welcome to try out 32bands. The thing about strapless bras is they need to be tight. Being 6 inches larger than my ribcage isn't what I would call tight. She threw everything in a 32 band at me (without seeming to look at cupsize) and then got bored and went back to hang out at the register. I tried a few on to humor her and then got out of there. They also don't carry anything that isn't black or nude, and when I asked about that I was told that there's no demand for anything else. The same girl later told me that the reason they rarely have anything below a 32 band is also because there are no good bras being made in that size range and they only sell quality bras. Have they never heard of Panache? Freya? Simone Perele? Affinitas? There are quite a few full-bust brands that make quality bras in smaller bands. They just don't stock them. read more

I was badly in need of an undergarment refresh after ten years of marriage and birthing some children. I find shopping for them intimidating. The sales lady left me alone for a while but then asked if I needed help - 15 minutes later I was walking out with flattering, perfectly fitted, reasonably priced yet beautiful items. It would have taken me hours to sort through & select the right fit & items on my own. I think I went to a different stores than a few of the other reviewers. I stopped in a few weeks before my wedding to pick up some ... accessories for my honeymoon. I was in the mood to drop some serious cash on a small amount of material. The selection was depressing. Everything I gravitated for wasn't available in my size. In fact, it was usually available only in an extra small or a large. Discouraged, I started just looking for anything in my size. I didn't come up completely empty handed, but the selection was super disappointing. I ended up leaving without buying anything. (And no, I'm not some weird size. Let me start by saying that when I go buy intaments im usually looking for something that's fun and flirty or something to make me feel sexy . I was visiting from out of town last week and realized I forgot to pack my undergarments. I looked up the brand I like to wear and saw that Bloomer's sells them. Great! When I went into the store, the clerk was eating her lunch. She could not put her fork down to help me and would only point to things from behind the register while seated. I was able to find what I needed, but was really disappointed in the customer service I received when I was there. I hope that she will be trained soon to understand that when a customer asks for help, especially when no one else is in the store, it is in the business' best interest to assist them and act like you are there to help them instead of focusing on your salad. I would have spent more time and money in the store had she actually helped me. read more

I wanted to return an item I bought there and called them, explaining that since they close at 6 pm every day and I work until 6 every day, I would not be able to get out to return my item until 9 days after I bought the item. Their return policy says you have 7 days to return an item. They would not make an exception, which I found a bit inflexible and not particularly good customer service. They are also a bit overpriced; in fact, the bra I bought from them was priced at $10 above the MSRP. If you looked closely at the tag (which I did not in the store) someone had written over the 5 in $58 to make it $68, which was a bit shady. Sadly, I cannot recommend this store. I was so excited to find a lingere store that sold my hard-to-find size, but their lack of customer service will ensure I never go back. No wonder their Georgetown location closed. read more

i want to give this place a good review but it just always falls short for me. my biggest complaint is the stock. they have good brands but the stock is severely limited. on a recent trip every single bra i looked at (mostly the sexier, fun things on the racks on the floor) were size large or x-small...but mostly large. they do not do a good job keeping small and medium in stock and they tend to only have about 2 options in any given style in the same color. when i asked if there were more sizes in the back i was told no and that it's because the items had been out for a while. i guess the store doesn't reorder much and simply puts something out until it sells out. my other big gripe is their "rewards" card. the first time i shopped here i was given a punch card for undies and a card for bras. during my last visit i gave the clerk my cards and was told the bra card only worked for structured bras (i had bought a bra without underwire). she also mentioned the card i had for panties only worked for thongs. seriously? obviously the owner is reluctant about offering incentives so i wonder why they do it at all?! there's nothing worse than offering a rewards program with limitations like this; i mean the bra i bought wasn't structured but it still cost almost $46. but, lucky me, the panties i chose were a thong so i got my punch! :-/ i'm really not one to shop anywhere just to take advantage of a rewards program but if you're going to offer it, make it more inclusive. i probably won't shop here again; if the selection were better i'd feel differently. in my opinion, it's just disappointing when you can't purchase anything you like. read more

Trust everyone when they say that the customer service is terrible. I went in yesterday July 12th. I walked in the store and was once not greeted by anybody and i was only person in there. And when i asked a question i felt like a bother to whoever was working and she was to busy on her phone and popping her gum. Being a woman with a more fuller bust i would still like cute and sexy bras but from the selection they have it's over priced and basic. I went to this great little shop for the first time with my husband over Thanksgiving last month. On Christmas he surprised me with the darling Eberjey long sleeve romper I had wanted. I wanted black but he bought it in grey because they didnt have black in my size and was told I could exchange it by Jan 5th. I called today to see if any more had come in in black in my size. The salesgirl said no. I also asked what the return policy was on Christmas items. She said seven days normally but during December they extend it to Jan 5th. So when I said he bought it Nov 28th OBVIOUSLY for Christmas, she said basically he was out of luck. I told my husband of my conversation and he said the girl had said to check back after Christmas because they might get more in and that he had til the 5th to return it! So someone didn't tell him the truth! We were first time customers and what a crummy experience. I was so disappointed in their customer service. It's a cute shop but we won't go back! read more

It starts with knowing how to fit someone correctly. The sales clerk was so far off it was a bit ridiculous. After telling me what her (poorly done) measurements were of me, she proceeded to give me bras in that size. One after the other I kept telling her they were too big so instead of re-measuring me or going down a few sizes, she tried to find other brands. Finally, I realized it was time to get out of there. She was very sweet and tried to be helpful but she was also 20-something and did not seem to want to close a sale. So needless to say, I will not be shopping here anymore. Sigh...I hate to echo some of the other reviewers here, since I really wanted to love this shop, but the stock here is very very limited. The only had 3 bras in my size when I stopped in a couple of weeks ago. I like to support local small businesses, and I like smaller shops because that usually means more personal and friendly customer service, but unfortunately my first trip in here turned me off of the store for good. In addition to the lack of stock - when I came in the sales associate was helping someone else, but she did not even acknowledge me. It took a full 10 minutes of chit chat with this other customer before she finally even made eye contact with me. I've purchased gifts for my young, thin nieces for many years from Bloomers. But frankly, it ever seemed like a store for a large busted 50+ woman. Wrong. I broke my arm, and needed a front closure bra. I looked online, and the only front closures available support boobs the size of jelly beans, not cantaloupes. Went to Bloomers, explained my problem, and the sales assistant immediately produced a full coverage, full support, D-cup front closure bra. Turns out Bloomers has a terrific selection of D-cup and larger bras. The prices are absolutely fair - bras like this are at the higher end of the price spectrum no matter where you shop. I love this little shop in old town Alexandria. The front of the store has some cute lingerie that I usually purchase for bridal shower etc. gifts. The back of the store has more everyday/comfort garments. The customer service is really excellent. I needed some new bras during my pregnancy and some nursing bras for afterwards and the sales person was excellent. She was great with helping me get some new sizes since my body had changed so much. She also brought me so many things to try on that I never would have considered and I ended up buying a few of the most comfortable bras I have ever worn in my life. I am a loyal customer to Bloomers. I was in the store yesterday and they got a lot of new stuff in and were all stocked up on my favorite brands and items. Also, I just got a free pair of underwear because I complete my buy 9 get one free punch card- they do that for panties and thongs and I get 10% off during my birthday month! Recently took a few of my girlfriends to Bloomers to buy gifts for a bridal shower and the sales associate was really helpful with helping us find gifts on different budgets. Finally, congratulations to the owner Kim for opening her new store in Georgetown this summer! I love this store. Just love it. I stopped in their location in Shirlington and got myself some eberjey pajamas and a robe and now I'm hooked. I've started buying cute panties and camisoles and (more) pajamas and even a lingerie ball to wash my delicates. Unfortunately I can't buy bras here because they don't carry my size, though they can order it (don't worry, Nordstrom doesn't carry it, either!). I'm just wary of special ordering something that I might not even like. I feel bad making them go to the trouble. They had a day after Thanksgiving sale and I have a few coupons I'm hoarding, too. This is a really cute little store that I've bought a couple items from. I went in the other day looking for camisoles, and I found the type I was after (a one-size-fits-most). I also checked in with the salesperson about my bra fit -- I was wearing a bra that was closest to my size as I could find in a discount store, but would have been better going up a cup size. The salesperson confirmed that the band size seemed right (the underwire was in the right place), but she then proceeded to pull out bras that I should try, only one of which was the correct band/cup combination (but which was really ugly). She had me try on a multitude of bras in a one-size-larger band, which meant that the underwire and straps didn't hit me correctly. The bras she was handing me just didn't feel right. The one bra I liked was the same size as the one I had on, but they didn't have it one cup size up like I needed. I like to support local businesses as much as I can, so I asked if they did special orders. The women behind the counter (owner?) explained that they don't, because they are a small shop and cost of special ordering is beyond what they can do and still remain competitive against larger concerns. They only do large shipments to keep the shipping price per item low. I asked when more of the bras might be in, and she couldn't say, and didn't offer to take my information. Ultimately, I remembered the info on the bra I liked, went to the brand's web site, and ordered the same bra in my band/cup size, PLUS a color that I preferred to the one in the shop. I feel bad -- the salesperson did all that work and got nothing for the sale, because the business owner can't keep enough stock in the place (as evidenced by other comments below), and won't/can't special order. My husband works in bike retail, and he says shipping costs often depend on the distributor, and for things like clothing and accessories, the shipping can be prohibitive. But, they handle it by passing the cost to the customer. Not sure if Bloomers could do the same, but I know that some solution must be better than having willing customers turn to the Internet because you don't stock items that fit them. read more

I love, love, LOVE this store. Getting fitted there made me want to sing "I once was lost, but now am found, was blind but now I see!" The saleswoman Corey was such a delight and fitted me for the first bra that's fit like a glove in all my 15+ years wearing bras. I don't agree with some of the reviews that the selection is small. Yes, there's usually only one or two sizes in each style of bra but that's because you're at a local, high quality (but affordable) boutique not a huge department store with cheap labels and unhelpful salespeople. There are plenty of brands and styles at Bloomers and if they have already sold out of your size they have a call list so when more of the size you want comes in, you'll know. The saleswomen don't make commission so they're there to help not necessarily force a sale plus they have a really fun 'Panty of the Month' club to try new brands and styles. Products include: bras, underwear, wardrobe solutions, PJs, slips, Spanx-type undergarments, hosiery, robes, sleeping masks, and lingerie cleaning supplies. read more

They have a great selection of bras that are high quality and comfortable to wear everyday. They carry a lot of Wacoal bras, and carry hanky panky in many colors and styles. The sales staff is very friendly and helpful with making sure you get the appropriate size, style, and fit for you. As I noted, bras are high quality, so they are not cheap, but they are still fairly affordable and very much worth it because they last (I think Wacoals can run around $50-$60). I would definitely recommend this place to friends. read more

Before my first visit to Bloomers I always just bought my bras from Victoria's Secret. It's crazy the difference a good bra can make! I was in the area so I stopped into Bloomers and decided to give it a shot. The sales associate was extremely attentive and knowledgeable of the brands and styles they carried. I was unsure of my bra size so the woman offered to measure me, and as I suspected, I had been wearing the wrong size. She asked me what kind of style bra I was looking for and then she picked some for me to try on. I ended up buying two of the four she picked, one chantelle and one wacoal. After wearing them for about 5 months, they are already holding up better than any of my previous bras from Victoria's. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone seriously shopping for good-fitting bras with personalized customer service. read more

The salesgirl put me in a fitting room and kept handing me options and giving me feedback on how it looked under the dress. I am happy to say I had a much flatter tummy when I left. The sales woman was so sweet and gave me a rundown of all the different brands and suggested what she thought would be best for me - and it wasn't the most expensive item in the store so she wasn't trying to sell for the big bucks.
