For a little walk-up, fast foodish joint, Blk Mkt Eats serves up high quality food with fresh ingredients. We had the salad base OG Fire - the lettuce was crispy and green and every ingredient tasted great. We also chose a rice bowl Tiger Style - yummy shrimp tempura were the high light. Kombucha to drink was a nice surprise. We will be back!
Came here on a Friday around 3:45ish. The place wasn't busy at all. I do prefer this new location compared to the old one because parking is easier. I ended up getting ordering a Cali bowl with jalapeños on top. The employee was friendly and allowd me time to decide on what I wanted. I will say their burritos are better than the bowls on my opinion. I ordered a bowl and a drink and it was $18 which to me is on the pricey side. I also think you get more bang for your buck with getting a burrito. The place is well lit and clean and they have an abundance of condiments after you get done paying. As always until next time...
Ok, so full disclosure, I checked in here on accident when I was at another location and no way to fix it, so I came here to eat a second lunch! I had been to the old location and had been wanting to check out the new location. It's a similar format as the old spot but not as bright and airy. A walkway directs you to the ordering counter. The menu is at the end on the side wall. I stood for a bit and reviewed the menu with no one around. A guy came from the back and apologized but I hadn't made my decision yet so he disappeared again. When I was ready, I had to wait for someone to come up from the back again. A young woman waited on me; she was fine but not real enthused which in turn made me less than enthused about eating here. The menu listed the ingredients that you could get in a burrito, a bowl, a salad, or wonton chip nachos. I went for the OG Fire with spicy salmon in nacho form. Honestly, if I was rating the food only it would have been a solid 4, maybe a 5 but the disinterested staff and dark atmosphere pulled it down to the 3. The nachos were great, the wonton chips are thin and crispy but not greasy, the salmon tasty with the sauce, great. Getting a bite with the wonton, the salmon, the guac, a cucumber, and a piece of jalapeno, so good. The perfect bite over and over.
I know I have already reviewed BLK Mkt Eats, but I can never get over how delicious it is each time I visit! I feel compelled to write another review. I hadn't been since they moved from their SLU location (shame on me), but the new(ish) Maplewood spot is great. I got my usual, which is the OG Fire nachos with spicy tuna. As usual, it was insanely fresh and has so many layered flavors with super crunchy wonton chips. I can't leave without ordering a side of shrimp tempura which is crazy crunchy and flavorful. I ate every last bite and don't regret it at all. BLK Mkt Eats is one of those STL staples for me.
My partner is a big sushi fan, so we decided to give Blk Mkt Eats a try for lunch. It wasn't too busy on a Saturday at lunchtime, and we watched our order get prepared right at the counter. The restaurant is nice and clean with lots of seating. My partner got the OG Fire sushi burrito and was very happy with it. I'm not much of a sushi guy myself so I ended up ordering the Seoul Delicious rice bowl. I wish it had a bit more chicken, and I really don't care for cold rice, but I enjoyed the rest of the ingredients. Might have to try their wonton chip nachos next time.
Food was definitely on point tried kimchi inside my rice bowl with pickles, fried chicken. Our waiter was definitely top tier professional and polite. Nice quite lit place do not hold a lot of people
One of my favorite places in STL! I really do miss them over by the SLU area but I will still come nonetheless because the food is so good! I love getting the Tiger Style with Salmon and have been getting it with the wonton nachos. Lately I've been ordering it with rice to keep my fingers cleaner lol but I miss my nachos so much. Tiger Style- spicy salmon, shrimp tempura, avocado, english cucumber, tempura crunch, crispy shallots, fresh jalapeños, og fire sauce & eel sauce OG Fire- spicy salmon, avocado, English cucumbers, masago, crispy shallots, tempura crunch, sesame seeds, fresh jalapeños, og fire sauce The tiger style has the shrimp tempura which brings it up an additional $2. I add eel sauce when I order the OG Fire. I add the spicy crab salad to both when I order either. The ponzu butter sauce is sooo good. Get some on the side. Service is fast and amazing and I wish more people ate inside! I don't see too many people inside. Maybe comfier seats or more noticeable storefront? Lastly, I love the sushi burritos too! It's in a previous review!
Such delicious food and so unique!! The staff was friendly. The place was clean and while music was playing it wasn't overwhelming. I also liked that you could make adjustments to the order.
Man, I really love this place. If I still lived in Saint Louis, I'd probably get myself a mid day lunch treat several times a month here. We both had the tigerstyle. The fish was super fresh--all the ingredients were very fresh. I think I might just be getting older or something, but I would say maybe things were just a bit too salty (the unagi sauce). Service was quick and friendly. The restaurant ambiance is very "trendy" and from their older place down in the cortex, there is a lot more space to dine in, though we took our order to go.
Overall, a wonderful spot in Maplewood for a very unique take on sushi! WAIT TIME: We came in for lunch on a Saturday at 2pm and there were only two person in line in front of us. It moved pretty quickly. FOOD: I ordered the Pineapple Express sushi burrito with tuna and my partner got the Tiger Style sushi burrito with spicy tuna. Both were tasty; the pineapple was on the sweeter side, I recommend the Tiger style one more! We thought it was such a fun take on sushi, to make them into a burrito instead. They also offered options such as wonton chips or poke bowls, which I'll have to come back to try! SERVICE: Counter ordering, they make it right in front of you. Everyone was very smiley and greeted you warmly. AMBIANCE: It's a good space for grab and go food. We sat down and ate quickly, not a lot of seating options but just enough to be able to find a spot and eat before you have to run! PRICE: The burritos were $14 and $16 respectively. Comparable priced to getting sushi or poke, so I feel like that's reasonable!
I don't know why I waited to long to try Blk Mkt Eats! The food is so good. I would rather eat here than traditional sushi just about any day of the week. I got the Tiger Roll and swapped out the Ahi Tuna or Salmon for the spicy crab - incredible switch! Everyone working was super kind and accommodating with both the swap and when I asked for the shrimp tails to be cut off. I was also excited that they had POG (Passion Fruit, Orange, and Guava) juice. We decided to dine in, which there is plenty of room for in their dining area filled with tables and chairs. I also noticed that they have a pretty decent take out business, as well. I truly cannot recommend enough and hope you give it a shot!
Ordered for pickup, they had my ready when I arrived and staff was very nice. I love sushi and couldn't wait to give this a try. It did not disappoint, pretty big wrap too! If you like sushi you have to try one! Absolutely would order again.
OG fire with spicy salmon burrito is amazing. The fish is so fresh and the tempura adds a nice crunch to the burrito. I've had the spicy tuna before as well and it was excellent too. The staff is super nice and helpful. The inside is clean and organized. Would highly recommend checking this place out if you like sushi. It's definitely a unique take but I love it!

Fun idea and experience! I love the idea behind a sushi burrito. Super convenient to be able to eat sushi with your hands. Compared to a specialty roll you might get at a typical sushi restaurant, I think the price is pretty reasonable. The only negative is the restaurant its self has pretty limited seating, so keep that in mind if you come with a big group. Will definitely be coming back again! read more
Super happy to have Blk Mkt eats closer to home! Have loved them since their first spot opened off vandeventer. The food is always super good and fresh, the staff is always very nice and quick with making orders. I love the aesthetic of the new location. I do just wish they'd stay open a bit later for later night cravings. Closing at 8 really seems a bit early... read more
One of the best places for a fresh and refreshing meal. The interior space is quite small so I prefer to order for take out. The design is modern and sleek. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I placed my order online but made a mistake so I called and they were very helpful and kind. The place does get busy so during peak hours plan ahead to get your food when you want it. Parking is a bit tricky. The street parking nearby is limited but I haven't had a problem finding something in the block nearby. I think the home made sauces they use have so much flavor they really make the dishes special. The textures are balanced with soft rice and fish, crunch veggies and smooth sauces. Even if you don't like raw sushi they have tempura shrimp and fried chicken as options. They also have some spicy sauces which make the dishes exciting. read more
Blk Mkt Eats is fantastic! If you're craving sushi, but want a little more bang for your buck this is the place to go. I highly recommend and usually order the OG Fire Salmon Burrito, but decided to try a bowl this time which was the best of both worlds with both salmon and shrimp tempura. The fish always tastes fresh and the sauces are even more delicious. Can't wait until their Maplewood location is open, so I can satisfy my sushi burrito cravings more often! read more

I've been meaning to try Blk Mkt for awhile now and finally did! I ordered the pineapple express burrito and loved it, the only issue I had was it was overly sauced so that the burrito kind of fell apart in my hands. I'll probably order a bowl next time I go to avoid that problem. My boyfriend got the OG fire with tuna and liked it a lot but he agreed there was too much sauce in his. The inside is tiny so if you have a group of people you probably want to take it to go but we were able to find a seat to eat in. The service was prompt and the workers answered all the questions we had. read more
I came in around noon on Wednesday 2/14 and I ordered the large OG fire burrito with half salmon and half tuna. They give you 3 scoops for a regular and 4 scoops for a large so I had it balanced with portions of each. The service was friendly and listened well to how I wanted the portions placed. The fish is covered in a spicy mayo, which holds the fish together in the burrito so it doesn't fall out while eating easily. The rice is a thin but sticky layer that makes it feel like you're eating more filling than rice. If you're worried the OG fire sauce added on top too much, it's not. The avocado and cucumber work well to balance the flavor and cool the heat. The tempura crunch, sesame seeds, and masago add a delicate texture that is consistent with traditional sushi that brings this meal home. It is a satisfying and quick bite to eat. It's a small but fine establishment to refuel at when on the go. They only have seating for about 12 people and that would be pretty tight. read more

Took my sushi loving 15 year old, he had the Cali Gold and I had the Tiger Style...both of us were glad we got the Regular size as we were stuffed afterward. I wish it wasn't 4 hours away from our house or I'd be there weekly! read more
Came here after getting some drinks from Narwhal. And OMG!!! How have I never eaten here before, it is soooooo good! Their sushi burritos are great, but doing it nacho style with the won ton chips took it to a whole different level! 100% recommend the sushi burritos here. 100000% recommend doing their nacho style!! Poke hasn't hit the spot like this since Hawaii! read more
Order: 'Cali Gold' Shrimp & Crab Burrito | 'Pineapple Express' Salmon Burrito This place is so great!!!! The staff was so so friendly & let my tacky arse have my bf's share of avo because he doesn't eat it AND they were playing my fave Tame Impala song right now "Lost In Yesterday". Sooooo happyyyy!!!! Also my Cali Gold Burrito was off the hizook & so was my bf's Pineapple Express Burrito. Crunchy, fresh veggies & I loved the tempura. Mine was slightly spicy cuz of the OG fire sauce (not too spicy though - I get hiccups if that's the case & it wasn't!). The Pineapple Express was sweet, tangy & so flavorful. So excited to have challenged my Chipotle craving & sought out a more interesting burrito dinner! Consider me a happy new regular!! read more

Given that I am from southern Cali, I did not expect Missouri to be the place to be for bomb sushirittos. This place is incredible and the fish is very fresh for a landlocked state. I loved the spice, freshness, colors, and overall crunch of the Tiger style sushi burrito. The spicy fire sauce balanced with the savory eel sauce and made it extremely flavorful. I also thought that the tempera shrimp was perfectly fried and ultimately the reason why I loved this burrito. This is a very filling meal and can definitely be shared with someone! Tip: this pairs wonderfully with Narwhals which is just across the corner! read more

Always love coming to BLK Mkt Eats! Every time I am craving a sushi burrito this always hits the spots. They are not skimpy with their portions and their combinations are great. On a hot day like it was today, their Poke Bowls smack! I wish I lived closer so I could frequent this restaurant! read more

I have always been a fan of poke bowls and sushi, so when my friend told me about a place that made sushi burritos, I was ecstatic to try it. This food lived up to the hype from my friend. You can make your own sushi burrito, bowl, or salad. They also have a menu with premade combinations. In my burrito, I got spicy tuna, avocado, cucumbers, green onions, spicy mayo, and eel sauce. It was delicious! FYI, you can get your sushi burrito dusted in flamin hots if you want some extra spice. The inside is small, so I wouldn't really recommend eating there. The staff was very helpful. They gave suggestions and happily answered any questions my friends and I had. I would definitely recommend going to this place if you are in St. Louis. They definitely won't disappoint you! read more

Always love eating here. Never a bad meal when it comes to the sushi burritos! Walked in and greeted fairly quickly by and excellent staff. They are usually quick to serve for this time It was a bit of a wait this time because they were waiting on some rice to be made. Worth the air either way. I got the Tasty as Cluck. The fried chicken was crispy and had nice seasoning on it. The slaw, arugula, crispy shallots with the fire sauce makes this burrito size sushi roll my favorite. read more

Flavoreesta's take note: Asian fusion slept with SoCal cool birthing seafood burritos with tofu nuggets as grandkids. Totally delish, super small 12 seat eatery with fresher than fresh ingredients customized to your preferences. Set visit on peat-repeat. read more
I could totally eat here everyday! The food is so delicious! I tried the OG Fire Nachos and the French Connection burrito. The nachos were hands down my favorite. The crispy wonton tortilla chips and spicy tuna with fresh jalapeño slices and the fire sauce?! OMG! I want more! The portion size was great. The burrito was definitely yummy too. It just gets messy towards the end because although it's a "burrito", it's rolled like sushi and the end is open....in other words, your fillings escape towards the end of it. The only things I wish they could improve on are size of the space, it is quite small and I hate eating next to strangers. Also, where's the chopsticks?! I so wanted to eat my delicious food with chopsticks and they don't have any. I am going back, can't wait to go back and try more of the fresh, delicious menu. read more

I wanted to give this 4-stars--it's so close--but there were some major things that needed fixing. There were only 3 people in line when we arrived but it took a long while before we were able to order because they were also fixing online orders ahead of those in person. And, apparently, they messed up and were duplicating orders that they had already made! Well, when we were finally able to order, we go to the first guy who basically just fiddles with the burrito orders, placing rice and cucumbers atop the nori then passes it to the next guy who seems to do the bulk of the work. This next guy (buff, Asian dude) also seems to be in charge because everyone working is bugging him with questions! I ordered a salad, so the first guy had to do slightly more, but not much... Anyway, our 2 burritos and 1 salad get made, finally. I turn around and there is a line TO THE DOOR! So, their food line is messed up! Even I've noticed that Chipotle has a separate area to make online orders! Plus, it's NOT NICE to have me watch while you prioritize something else over me, who is standing right in front of you. Food was really good, although my salad was on the dry side. It needed more sauce and I was only given one whereas most poke places give you the option to have two. Prices were fine. The small dining area was getting messy. Busy street parking on Manchester Road. read more

I've only picked up food from here but the restaurant is super cute. The sushi burrito is 10/10. I do not like getting pulled for work to Barnes, but I treat myself to this after and it makes it all worth it. Cute location. Easy to do a pickup order and ready quickly. read more
I didn't actually like my holy shitaki burrito. It was too salty, too overstuffed, and the asparagus was a little weird for me. BUT! I'm still giving this place 5 stars because: 1. Every employee was a super star, and extremely (authentically) friendly. In my opinion, that can't be valued highly enough - keep up the kind-vibe! They even gave me a great recommendation for a place nearby. 2. The food can be made to order. I just had never had it and didn't know what my preferences were, but I do now and feel my next order will be much better as I'll know what I do and don't like. 3. One burrito is enough for lunch for me and my partner. We love that. Legit fresh and healthy(ish) lunch for 2 for $10 - sweet deal! 4. Lastly, not only were they nice to me, but I overheard/eavesdropped on a tall man (who I assume is the manager/owner) being kind to another employee who was clearly not feeling up to working the front. Srsly. Kindness will always get 5 stars from me. I'll very likely be back soon to give it another try. read more
