This is the one and only location here and a great stop for all kinds of sandwiches. Their menu includes innovative offerings and iconic flavors, essentially the best of both worlds. If you're craving a classic or simple sandwich, you can get that. However, if you're looking for something special or out of this world, you can also get it. Ike's specializes in sandwiches with their Dutch Crunch bread and Dirty Sauce, both unique in its own way. Whether you're a meat lover, vegetarian, vegan, or on a gluten-free diet, their menu has it all. I personally am not a super fan of the Dutch Crunch bread since I find it a bit too harsh on the palate and somewhat dry, but love the Dirty Sauce (make it extra or on the side). I enjoy subbing the Dutch Crunch with either French or Sourdough. With over 300 unique sandwiches on the menu, there's a sandwich for everyone. My favorites have been the Menage A Trois (halal chicken, honey mustard, BBQ Sauce, real honey, pepper jack, swiss, cheddar), Ike's Reuben (pastrami, mack Sauce, purple slaw, gouda), Joker (all beef meatballs, fried zucchini, Ike's red pesto, ranch), and Grant Pinkerton, a Houston exclusive (Pinkerton Brisket, pastrami, BBQ aioli, provolone). All of my sandwiches have been stuffed and tasty, worth it! However, I find some menu items to be subpar in quality and flavor (chicken strips). The service is typically quick, efficient, and friendly. There are more than a handful of tables inside and some out on the patio. The shared parking lot can get very crowded as it is packed with lots of other businesses.

Honestly, in the beginning it was pretty rough, slow service, incorrect orders, and the sandwiches just weren't as good as what I was used to getting in California. That said, I kept coming back every now and then hoping things would improve, and I'm glad I did. My last few visits have been great. The sandwiches have been fresh and really tasty, and the customer service has been solid. I also spoke with Jose, and he mentioned he's been working hard to turn things around, and it definitely shows. Not sure why they don't have more locations yet, but I hope they expand soon!

If you are trying to decide to visit this location or Bellaire...this location provides a much larger comfortable & inviting dining space to sit & converse over your food as well as outdoor seating. The other location is much smaller & when busy, not as much privacy & more inclined to leave as soon as you finish eating. Food: Scrambled Eggs, onions added (9/10)- flavorful without adding any salt or pepper. Maple sausage (9/10) has a nice soft spiciness. Hash browns (9/10) are thinly shredded potatoes full of flavor. Cannot figure out what they are seasoned with. Grits (8/10)- creamy, little thick don't need to add anything to them. French toast with blueberry & lemon, (7/10)- Flavor toppings work well together, toast is soft throughout. It cooled off very fast so it wasn't really warm when I ate it. I'd try pancakes next time. Parking: Parking is very limited in front of the building & a little street parking so you might get lucky. Otherwise, the free valet booth is right in front of the building.

I understand a busy brunch hour is a lot, but there needs to be a mindset shift. Not to mention, there were flies everywhere. There were fly deterrent fans, but the flies were still over everything. For my matcha connoisseurs, I would not recommend ordering one here. Mine was poorly made. The color was practically white and tasted like milk with a sliver of matcha. Overall, I would not recommend this place. There's a lot of potential at this place, but it's missing the personal and friendly aspect. She needs southern charm.

I asked our server a couple questions about some of the dishes and was met with Irritation and rudeness and comments like, "of course there is cream in the mashed potatoes, it's mashed potatoes!" I was also told that the green beans were "just fried in a little bit of olive oil", yet they came out on my plate in a brown sauce. Hmm. Our server seemed to be very nice to a couple tables around us but not so much with us. She also appeared to be the only staff person in the restaurant out on the floor. I overheard other people calling her Shandy and it turned out she was the owner! I was appalled! As a female, I'm passionate about supporting other females and women-owned businesses, especially minority women. But I do expect a certain level of professionalism and to be treated with respect. I didn't find that at Shandy's :( My mom provided feedback to the owner after our meal and the owner indicated to my mom that my mom was the only person to ever give her this type of feedback. After reading other reviews, it appears that I am not the only one who has been made to feel this way.

Now, I thought I could just stop by and grab my order in about five minutes... that was not the case. It took well over 30 minutes. However, I do want to recognize the customer service, especially the gentleman in the red shirt who was running the cash wrap. He was very attentive and made sure orders were moving and getting out to customers. When I followed up on my order (about 20+ minutes in), he let me know there were about 9-10 subs ahead of mine due to a lot of online orders. Once I got my food, I thanked him and let him know next time I'll definitely be ordering online. If you're planning to grab lunch and not dine in, I highly recommend ordering ahead to save time. Now, the food... the sub was 10/10 amazing. I got the Jamaican Red Buffalo Chicken. Highly recommend. The only thing I want to point out is there was a guy working with bell peppers who came to the front line and started handling food for customers. He had on gloves and headphones, but when a customer asked him a question, he used his gloved hand to move his headphones, then went right back to handling food without changing gloves. Other than that, I'll definitely be back!!!!
