I saw the great reviews on yelp and needed a pedi so I came to this place. It was also very close to the hotel I was staying at and that was a bonus because it was raining and I was on foot. First impression: The interior of the place was very clean and cozy which was nice and had four pedicure chairs and two salon chairs for hair cuts. 5 stars for cleanliness. Service: When I got there it was just before noon on a Monday and I believe I was the first customer of the day as it looked like the people who worked there had just arrived minutes before I did. I was helped by a young lady (I think her name is Laura) who gave me a pretty standard pedicure. It was clean and thorough which I liked with a short foot massage at the end which I appreciated. It wasn't amazing but she did a good job and she was very very nice and I would definitely come back to have her do my pedicures in the future. I did a shellac polish instead of regular because I'm leaving to go on vacation soon and they had an ok selection of colours...they didn't have as many as I would have liked but I found a colour I was happy with so it wasn't a huge deal. My pedicure took about thirty minutes from start to finish. Price: I paid 45 plus tax and added a 5 dollar tip when the girl asked the owner how much my service was. I was a bit disappointed because I read reviews that the pedis are 25 dollars here so I paid an extra 20 for shellac colour? I left a bit confused but I decided not to bother saying anything because the girl was so nice. I will probably ask about the price in advance next time so I don't feel ripped off if I come back here for a shellac or for any service for that matter. Im giving 3 stars because everything was great except the price. I would have given 4 or 5 stars if I had paid like 30 or 35 max but i feel like I over paid for a service that was honestly nothing above what I can usually get for a lot cheaper someplace else.

I love this place. I've been here three times for acrylics and they always do a great job. Very friendly service, nice clean atmosphere, overall great place. I've attached a picture of the very first nails they did for me. I got the henna done at another salon.

$25 for a pedi! Sweet! The chairs are super comfy too. Only complaint is I wish they had jets in the foot tubs. Great staff though!

You tell me if this sounds fishy to you…read more I walked in today to simply get a basic mani and before I even sat down the girl at the front asked me for my credit card number. I was confused. I asked her why and she told me to hold my spot. Hold my spot? So, I asked her if she wanted me to come back later?....."No, no...." she said, I can take you now. Now I was even more baffled. I told her I'd be paying with debit and she told me well that's totally different. If you want to book online for next time you come in...it will be easier for you with your CC information registered online. Well, first off....how do you know I'll be back.....secondly, can't I just do that myself at home in the comfort of my own space and privacy? Her approach to getting my credit card info. just felt very out of bounds and forced making me feel very uncomfortable. I clarified to her: I just want a basic mani, paying debit when it's done. What do you need my credit card number for? When she realized that I wasn't into the whole...."let's share private information thang" she backed off. To be honest, at that point I was a bit startled, because just about a month ago I had fraudulent theft on my debit card and Vancouver at the moment is under serious ID theft and credit theft. Once she allowed me to enter past the Welcome matt without grabbing my credit card information, she asked me to pick a colour. Two things happened while I was trying to find my colour at the wall in the back. 1. I didn't find any colour I liked (very limited colour selection) 2. The red flags just didn't go away. It just felt off. I left without getting my nails done. I pick a colour. you paint my nails. I pay debit. We all go home happy. What do you need my credit card information for?

I went here about a month ago to get my first Brazilian. Previously, I would do my own waxing but…read morethere are some areas a gal just can't get to on her own! Anyway, I booked my appointment with the founder and owner of the shop, Annik. I chose to come here based on stellar online reviews, that Miley Cyrus came here (she has to know a good waxer, right?), that appointments are offered into the evening and that they have hard wax. Also, the location is convenient for people downtown or taking skytrain. The area is really not sketchy like some others have said. Maybe if you are not used to homeless people or people loitering, but let's be real, that's everywhere these days. I was super happy with the services here. The rooms are private and clean. There is no double dipping and Annik, as well as the woman at the front desk, were very friendly and personable. Annik was a perfectionist with her waxing and made sure everything was symmetrical and all hairs were removed. She checked her work several times during the appointment, which I appreciate. She also worked quite quickly. While waxing is not going to be painless, the pain was very momentary.

I'm a hairy guy and I've had the odd girlfriend in the past raise that as an issue. It was never a…read moremake it or break it issue though but I was always a bit of a wimp when it comes to waxing. I'm terrified of doing stuff that could be painful. But, after hearing how so many do this I decided to bite the bullet in August 2019 and get my first full manzillian. I had read that if people were scared of waxing they should try say their back or upper arms but I dove right in. I read a lot online, spent hours reading about the experience of other men and women. One thing that helped me was advice online that recommended people getting waxed take a extra strength Tylenol when they get up, and another just before the procedure as it helps the system be a bit numb to the pain. But in terms of narrowing down where I was going to go, I think I visited and read reviews of several places in Vancouver that specialize in just providing waxing services, as CoalitionSkin does. And for me, what made CoalitionSkin (aka the PxssyShop) stand out was a few reviews by men and how they said that the hard wax CoalitionSkin used is easier on delicate areas like your testes, pubic bone and yes, even your face. Also, in reading the bios online, CoalitionSkin has aestheticians who have both the training and years of experience in waxing that I felt they'd be able to do a good job. Which they do. Finally, I even found and read the health inspection reports for CoalitionSkin and they've never had any major infractions - and my own experience confirms that the place has always been spotless when I've been their. Booking appointments is easy to do online, where you can select your aesthetician and times in advance. My first time in August 2019 was with Camille, who unfortunately moved on shortly thereafter but she was great at explaining things and helping to position me during the waxing. She also instructed me to breathe in just before each rip of the wax and that helped prepare me. What actually hurt more was the odd time she had to go over a spot again as not all the hair would come out during my first wax. The hot wax stung the raw skin. But not for long. The first time also took the longest. Since September 2019, I've gone to Olivia, who has been great. Each time it's been easier as the hair doesn't grow in as fast or as thick. Also in September I started getting my beard waxed. Olivia does that too. I have always had a very thick beard since I was a teenager. When I trim and shave it away, stubble grows back quick within hours and that made dating difficult as by the end of the date, kissing me would be like kissing razor blades. So waxing the beard has helped remove the hair and keep it away for a couple of weeks where the skin stays smooth. And after having it done four times now it's easier each time. My last wax only took an hour or so for both the beard and Manzillian whereas the first beard wax took a good hour and the first Manzillian over 90 minutes, maybe close to two hours. Having said this though, even though it now takes less time, nothing ever feels rushed, they take the time that's needed to do things properly. Overall I'm glad I chose CoalitionSkin. It costs a bit more, but their aestheticians are well trained, experienced and very friendly and easy going. And I don't find it that painful at all. It's partly a mindset and taking the Tylenol helps I think. The CoalitionSkin website has lots of tips to help you prepare too. And they give great advice for aftercare too, like taking it easy for 24 hours and using tea tree oil as part of your after-wax regiment. Next summer, in 2020, I might try getting my back done, and having a bit of cleanup on my upper arms and chest although I don't think I'd ever get my full chest done. I think Camille said that the men she had waxed always said the back hurt the most but we will see! Anyway I can't recommend them enough. Especially if other men are curious about this, or ladies want their men to get stuff done don't be afraid to check out CoalitionSkin!
