Bliss was one of my go-to nail salons when I lived in Vancouver. In town for a couple of days, I paid them a visit like before. They raised their prices by $5 for each service without updating their website because, I quote, they did not know how to change the website content. Not try to be a snobby b*tch or anything, I was thinking in my head, "I taught myself how to create websites, so I know it isn't that hard. Maybe someone just needs to be smart." I still tipped them even when deep down I felt I had been fooled and misled. I regretted right away after I tipped and am very angry at myself for being so soft-hearted even for bad people. The piece of paper on the wall by the cashier does not count as a notice, FYI. The least the ladies at the salon could have done was to verbally inform the customer out of very basic human courtesy and manners. I teared up as I walked out of the salon, still having a hard time imagining there are people this greedy and awful. It's hilarious how so many businesses, salon or restaurant, feel entitled to increase their prices without even bothering to giving customers any heads up just because of covid. Are they the only people in this world whose incomes have been impacted by the pandemic? No - I assure you millions of others out there suffer from the same thing. If this is how a business treats others whose incomes have likely been reduced due to covid, this business has no empathy and does not deserve anyone's money. Not only will I never ever go back to Bliss, I have no respect for this place and will always think of this business very lowly. There is also no cushion for any of the chairs - I literally paid $88 for serious back pain. I was on a 6-hour flight yesterday and did not even experience this much pain stuck in a tiny seat. I regret ever coming to Bliss and wish I had not wasted 2 hours of my life on this business. read more

From out of town (Ontario) for a wedding and soooo glad my friend and I found this place to get us ready! Linda did an AMAZING job. Haven't had a better shellac Mani/Pedi anywhere. She gave max effort for my Pedi and completely transformed my tired nurse, Hobbit feet! My friend and I both recieved great service and they were very friendly. The place was super clean too. My only complaint is that Linda will be across the country when I go home and need my nails done again! Will definitely give her a call when I'm back in town. :) read more

I saw the great reviews on yelp and needed a pedi so I came to this place. It was also very close to the hotel I was staying at and that was a bonus because it was raining and I was on foot. First impression: The interior of the place was very clean and cozy which was nice and had four pedicure chairs and two salon chairs for hair cuts. 5 stars for cleanliness. Service: When I got there it was just before noon on a Monday and I believe I was the first customer of the day as it looked like the people who worked there had just arrived minutes before I did. I was helped by a young lady (I think her name is Laura) who gave me a pretty standard pedicure. It was clean and thorough which I liked with a short foot massage at the end which I appreciated. It wasn't amazing but she did a good job and she was very very nice and I would definitely come back to have her do my pedicures in the future. I did a shellac polish instead of regular because I'm leaving to go on vacation soon and they had an ok selection of colours...they didn't have as many as I would have liked but I found a colour I was happy with so it wasn't a huge deal. My pedicure took about thirty minutes from start to finish. Price: I paid 45 plus tax and added a 5 dollar tip when the girl asked the owner how much my service was. I was a bit disappointed because I read reviews that the pedis are 25 dollars here so I paid an extra 20 for shellac colour? I left a bit confused but I decided not to bother saying anything because the girl was so nice. I will probably ask about the price in advance next time so I don't feel ripped off if I come back here for a shellac or for any service for that matter. Im giving 3 stars because everything was great except the price. I would have given 4 or 5 stars if I had paid like 30 or 35 max but i feel like I over paid for a service that was honestly nothing above what I can usually get for a lot cheaper someplace else. read more

The pictures on here looked impressive and I was in a hurry to find a nail salon after the one I was originally going to go to was fully booked. The design I had in mind was a natural nail ombre (almost like acrylic) where the white blended into the pink. The nail artist said she was able to do it and started to work on my nails. Their sanitation is sub par. They reuse sponges that were used to apply glitter/chrome. The work area is somewhat clean, they lay a towel on the surface. The technicians also don't wear those surgical masks. While in the middle of doing my nails, my nail artist picked up the phone and was calling someone, even did a FaceTime with a person. I've never been to a salon where they picked up their cellphone in the middle of work, like??!!! Anyways, my nails looked really bad at the end. It was very messily blended into the pink base, and looked nothing like the picture I showed her. So to help my situation, I asked to apply some holographic chrome powder over what she just did. Once that was on, I was a little happier with how they looked. On their website, they say that a shellac mani is around $30, but I guess I mistakenly got their gel mani which is $50. From the service I got, i felt I was ripped off. They are also understaffed, three girls doing everything in the salon. I wouldn't come back for another manicure. read more

I'm so unimpressed. I went to get my eyelashes tinted and will never go back for the same service. I had to ask them to put new paper over the bed I was going to be using. No one offered to take my coat. I laid down at the back of the room without any privacy. Several times someone came to check on me and as they were poking around my eye area, I heard loud crunching and chewing... that's right, they were eating while checking the chemicals on my eyelashes. I left feeling like I had intruded on their evening. Never again. read more

This is a small salon/spa I happened to notice on my many journies through Yaletown. The prices for a pedicure are great...only $25. At that price I can afford to go on a regular basis. The massage chairs are burtally good...oh my goodness they will work out all those deep shoulder and lower back kinks. The place is small and can feel a bit cramped. The public washroom doubles as a staff room, broom closet etc. But I accept those shortcomings all in the name of a cheap but well done pedicure. read more

Unfortunatly I have to be the one to give this so-called "personable" salon bad review, but my experience was so awful that I can't not. A girlfriend and I made appointments about a week in advance as we wanted side by side mani-pedis. 2 of their 3 chairs were full when we arrived at our scheduled time, so we waited about 15 minutes while they pulled chairs out of the back and set us up in the middle of the salon. The pedi seemed to go alright, until both my friend and I realized we had a lot of callous and dead skin left. I must have had someone VERY unexperienced as she used an incredibly cheap, rough file on my thin natural nails, filing most of them down to NOTHING. On the nails she left anything on they were uneven and ragged, I was so upset. Although my friends nails weren't filed down as poorly as mine, the painting was completely amateur on both of us, with streaking and polish pooling into our cuticles. Not what I would've expected from a salon in a million years. I actually removed my polish before I left, I would've been embarrassed to leave with it on. The worst of it was when we spoke to who I took the be the manager (who I realized after wards had horrible calloused feet, BAD SIGN! LOL) about being dissatisfied, she rudely refused to do anything for my friend and gave me about a $4 discount. I would have paid for the pedi and had no hard feelings, but after having my nails destroyed she insisted I pay for the most of the mani because of the "cuticle work". Some of the rudest treatment I've ever recieved in a Vancouver salon. I have recommended everyone I know to stay far, far away. read more

Moving to a new area in Vancouver means finding a new nails, hair, lashes, tanning salons etc. Life is complicated when you move!!! Trying out new salons my nail got beaten to a pulp...but this salon fixed them up and showed me how they love and care for nails rather than throw me through the pulper to get another in my seat. Excellent prices, comfort, manicure. Thank you I've been searching for a place in yaletown to get a decent affordable mani/pedi. They have recently renovated and their set up is extreme comfort. My nails have been destroyed from other salons over buffing but she was so gentle and gave a great mani which was only $15. I opted for French vynil lux which was an additional $5 and totally worth every cent. Everyone was so nice as well and I felt very comfortable in the salon. 4 stars and could have been 5 but I was left sitting for a little while before mani and changed manicurist during the mani. This doesn't bother me so much because I'm not in a hurry during my "beauty days" but if I was it could have been a little irritating. I've finally found my salon in yaletown!! read more

$85 for a gel mani/pedi. The girl working on my mother was quick and efficient. They accommodated us last minute so that is greatly appreciated. The two working on me were a bit slow but got the job done. It's been a week and a half and I have a couple chips already which is disappointing. If the price was a bit lower I would be back -- UPDATE! + 1 star. This lasted 4 weeks with only the two minor chips attained during the first 9 days. Very little lift and colour stayed fairly glossy. I was in town with 2 other girls looking to get our nails done. I called several salons in the area, and everywhere else was fully booked for the day, but this salon had openings. We headed over and we had the whole salon to ourselves. Everyone at the salon was very nice. Once the technician said I was done, I looked down and saw a lot of patchy-ness. She and another lady put an extra coat on top - and it was fine. Two days later, my manicure was really chipped. Half of the polish on some of my nails came off. I just moved here so it was hard finding a place for a decent price. I went onto their website and saw mani/pedi for 40$ so I called and made an appointment for Saturday for my friend & I. The experience was good, chairs are comfortable and the people are sweet. But once we were leaving I noticed we were over charged so I had to clarify the price. She said it the 40$ is just a promo for mon - wed so I asked if that was on their website and she said no. I believed I should have gotten the difference back but she did not give it to me. went in for a mani/pedi. This was the first time I had been here because I couldn't get into my regular place. It should have been cheaper but it turned out being the same price of $80 something with tax and tip (included gel polish for my hands) The daughter did my pedi which was fine. a bit rough and she cut my nails extremely short but I would probably go back again - hence the 2 stars. The mother had done my gel mani. I asked for a darker colour which she tried to talk me out of (4 times) and after it was finished I understood why. The colour was all over my cuticles and you could see all of the imperfections. when she said she was finished she started so far from the base of my nail it looked like they were a week old. She cut my cuticles badly in three different spots and then blamed it on me twice saying that its because I have thin skin (this has never happened at any other place I've gone too). One of the cuts continued to bleed until I got home. She also took a call from her husband and chatted with him on speaker phone while she did my nails (not in English) which was the opposite of relaxing. I would not go back to have her do my manicure again. read more

Based on the good reviews I decided to visit this place but unfortunately my experience was not the best one. I went for a hair cut, My hairstyle was an inverted LOB (when the front is longer than the back) I asked to cut about 0,5-1 inch, take out the volume and to KEEP the hairstyle basically my visit was only for maintenance. The first problem was that she killed my hairstyle, the front has now the same length that the back, like a channel :(, so disappointing and second I don't think she has experience cutting curly hair because using those toothed scissors she took off volume from the top of my head leaving me with frizz. Nightmare...left bleeding from a horrible wax job. They said I had sensitive skin, this never happened to me before at any other salons. The staff and owner were the worst, had no manners. First time since I moved to Vancouver and really happy with my haircut. I asked for layers and the owner lady did a great job, she knew what she was doing specially dealing with my curly/wavy hair, she first did a few trims on wet hair, then dried it and straighten it to continue cutting over straight hair to make an even trim. I was here in April for a pedicure. The girl ripped the skin around my big toe by literally pulling a strip off. I was bleeding, in pain, and concerned about infection. Linda, an owner, tried to say that it happens sometimes when their hands "slip". I said this clearly wasn't from a hand slip and she later agreed. However, she still charged me full price and also tried to charge me an extra $5 for the "callus control" treatment, which I refused to pay. The cut became infected and took four weeks to heal. (note, I go a few times a year I'm not a seasoned nail professional lol) small but good. don't expect frills at this place. no massage chairs or jetted tubs, but you leave with awesome looking nails. the girl I had spent so much time fileing and shaping my nails, and made sure they were even. with the polish she was very meticulous and when all was said and done my nails came out perfect. they use disposable files and buff blocks too. and the girls my friend and k had were really nice :) gave us space to talk but we're still friendly. read more

Worst experience ever...me and my best friend of years went here to get our nails done and it was AWFUL....to be nice....the woman didn't know how to do nails at all...we asked to have them done together and that did not happen. She took over 2 hours to do a horrible job on both our nails. She didn't even put the polish on the whole nail. I had to tell her how to do things. Do not go here. I went to this place a while back on the recommendation of a co-worker. They said they could squeeze me in on relatively short notice, which I initially thought was nice. What I didn't realise was that they meant I would be sitting on a tiny stool right by the door to get my nails done. This was the worst manicure I have EVER had. The girl doing my service cut me when she was doing my cuticles (on more than one finger), and then stuck nail polish remover on the cut to try to get it to stop bleeding. I had asked for french polish, and she did a terrible job on that as well. One finger had blood mixed in with the polish from my bleeding finger, and the length of the tips were different. She also didn't ask what style I like my french polish in, and didn't listen when I told her I didn't like it as thick as she was doing it. She was so incredibly slow, that after an hour and 15 minutes (I told the girl when I made my appointment that I would only have an hour because I had a reservation - she said no problem), I had to ask her to please hurry up so I could just go. When I went to pay, they still charged me full price, plus extra for the french polish, even though the girl had taken an hour and a half and had cut my fingers. I left feeling ripped off, with still bleeding fingers and polish I took off the next day, and was late to where I was going. All in all, an absolutely horrible experience. read more
