The service Was awful. I usually go there for my nails but this Time my service was done by a very smart mouth lady that not only did a poor job but also was rudely asking me to tip her 10% of the service because less than 10% was an amount not acceptable for them. She even said by law she was only able to Take at least 10% of the total service. I told her that what she was doing was wrong. my service was for $63.00 and I tipped her only $6 in cash because she was in a hurry , she didn't clean my nails at the end of the manicure. I had to did it myself when I got home. I also asked for an extra coat and she was no, I also asked her to file the sharpest nails at the end of the manicure because they were uneven and she got mad. She even cut me with the cuticle cuter and didnt even say sorry she smile and keep going even tho I was bleedin. I was like hey if you are in a hurry I can wait for another person to do my nail. I had no problem waiting. i am a decent tipper, specially if I got a good service. I always appreciated their job by tipping them good. but this lady had the guts to tell me that by law I have to tipper more, knowing that her service was poor. This place was awesome! They did a beautiful job on my gel acrylics, beautiful job on my brows, lip and pedicure. They were patient, sweet, reassuring, atmosphere was welcoming and professional. Only reason I gave it 4stars was that I walked in at 1:15pm and didnt walk out till 430pm. Granted I was soaking off my old nails and getting a new set, but they could've been more efficient. Instead of letting my toe nails dry for 30 min and then LATER soaking my nails, they could've had me doing both things at once to save time. I've been here twice now, and neither time was I overwhelmed by the end result. Unfortunately, there are not many options on this side of town, which is why I went back a second time. It was merely out of desperation to remove the grown out gel polish. The polish options seem plentiful, however, the colors are far from inspiring and I feel like the polish is not the brands they say they are. The tech tried to add one coat, but I asked her to do 3 because the polish appeared diluted. Then, with the 3 coats, the polish didn't look even and it streaked. I've never had gel streak. read more

Update 2/18 Tried again in a pinch last Sunday. No chip was not fully dry so paint chipped. Went back to get it fixed 3 days later. After 'fixing' the nails, you could see the paint moving afterwards. I can't believe it happened twice. This place is ridiculous! Update 8/17: I made an appointment for noon today. Because it was a holiday, they were extremely busy. However, The took several people before me who didn't have appointments, which got frustrating. Next, when I finally got to a pedicure chair, it took another 20 mins for someone to start on me. I needed to soak off gel, so I was given a bowl of acetone instead of foiled fingers. This made my pedicure quite uncomfortable, as I didn't want to have the bowl in my lap. After a mediocre pedicure. I got the dip powder nails. It took someone another 10 mins to start on me. When she finished I gave her a credit card to pay. When I signed the merchant copy, leaving a zero tip (as they ask for cash tips), she asked are you going to tip me. I gave her a $5 bill. She asked if I was going to tip the pedicure. I said no and left. Maybe it's just me but that felt rude and unnecessary to ask for a tip: 1) after it took me 2.5 hours to get my services when people came after me and finished way before me, 2) my pedicure and now dip powder nails are starting to chip/peel on the first evening. Don't go here for dip powder, they put a gel coat on top which peels immediately. This is the second time I've given this place a try but it starting to not feel worth it. Update 10/16: I tried this place again after 4.5 months and I'm pleased to report that my nails stayed on, un-chipped, for over two weeks; well, 2 weeks and one day. They are still on as I write this. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because the prices are pretty expensive considering the neighborhood, not downtown. I was in the area and needed my nails done for an event the next day. This was my first time at Bliss and I decided to go based on the reviews. I arrived at 6:30 hoping for a full set and no chip. I waited until 7:30 because it was busy and clients with appointments kept arriving. Two people arrived after m without appointment and were seated before I was. I asked if there was a reason why they had been attended before I was. They told me that someone would be with my shortly. I'm called within 5 minutes and told to sit. A man, I didn't ask for his name, asked me if I had chosen a color. I said no and he asked why was I wasting time? I told him that I wasn't instructed to pick out a color. He told me that it was a nail salon and nobody had to tell me, I should know what to do. I explained to him that most salons offer a color wheel for no chip colors. At this point I was feeling a little angry and wanted to walk out but I figured I had waited this long so I should stay. He gave me some colors yo choose from and I picked out a pink color. He told me that it would look awful on me and he would pick the color. Again, I'm not one to make a scene so I agreed. I'm not sure what he did to my cuticles but he used the machine around them and it was painful. I figured I was overreacting and let him continue. He applied the nail color and I was happy with the color. After I left I paid and tipped. At this point I wasn't 100% happy with my nails but needed to leave. I stepped out into natural light and noticed that my nails were streaky, lumpy and bubbly. The next day my nails felt sticky and my cuticles had small cuts and hurt. I will not return. I was treated poorly and the end result was not what is expected of a place that charges $45! My best friend and I went in to get our nails together and were excited because of the reviews, however, I was greatly disappointed by the service and would not recommend this salon at all. The first issue we encountered was the fact that we had SCHEDULED appointments, we arrived on time and my friend was met with a technician right away, I however needed to wait 20-30 minutes before they began work on my nails all the while other women, who came AFTER us, were being taken care of. When I spoke up about this issue they assured me that they would begin work on my nails. Then a male technician- who was about to start a pedi was pulled away to do my nails - I'm not sure if this "inconvenience" irritated him or if that was his normal disposition but the he was very rude throughout the entire procedure. While shaping my nails he did it so hard that the acrylics popped off and needed to be re-glued, this happened at least 4 times. Additionally, when asking about the shape and color I had a difficult time understanding him because of his accent and he snapped/yelled at me. The other unsettling fact about this salon is the smell, I have been to many salons and this one had very poor ventilation thus resulting in a pungent odor of chemicals. Finally, as my nails grew I noticed what appeared to be dents on my nail bed, sure enough when I had them removed there were severe ring shaped dents on my nail bed and remain there to this day. I wish I would have remembered the technician's name, perhaps there are others who are better at this salon but he was awful, I definitely would not recommend this place. read more

I gave this place a try despite recent low ratings. I wanted to like this place because it is so close to home. When I walked in the girl was on her phone and didn't even bother to look up. I was seated right away which was a plus. I got a no chip mani and the lady who did my nails was thorough. I did not feel like she was in a rush which was good. However, my nails chipped 4 days later despite having selected a pretty good brand of nail polish.I used to go to a place on the north side and my nails never chipped so I'm not really sure what they do differently here. They gave me an excellent manicure and pedicure at a very good price. The shop was clean and the workers were all very friendly. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that it lacked the chic modern frills that you will find at nail salons on the north side. Nevertheless I walked in on a Tuesday evening fortunately was seated in a pedicure chair right away. My nail technician was very meticulous with my feet paying attention to every details that I didn't feel rushed at all even though it started getting busy with more clients coming in. The massage was very relaxing that I almost fall asleep. In all I was satisfied beyond my expectation and will highly recommend this salon. This is my go-to pedicure place. The ladies here are always very kind and are are to get me in quickly with or without an appointment. My pedicures are always really good and last pretty long for a regular pedicure. The price is fair at $22 for a standard pedicure. As a plus, they have a loyalty card so you get a free pedicure after 10! This is the worst nail salon ever! You call no one answers, and when they do answer and you schedule an appointment you wait an hour before being serviced. The job was rushed because there were so many people waiting.... That's just the beginning, a week later I broke a nail. I called to come in and get an appointment to get ONE nail fixed. I came in they said one hour. I said ok, when to get food came back, I waited an additional 25 mins. After seeing people who came in after me, being called to get serviced... I asked when would it be my turn to get my ONE nail fixed... The same lady who told me to wait and hour, told me they couldn't service me. (Wow, right?) Initially I wasn't going to leave a review of my experience, however some of the staff here are truly unprofessional. I booked an appointment with Casey, got to the salon to find out she had been double booked and was referred to Jenny by the gentleman who normally greets you upon entrance. Ok, I have experienced Jenny in the past, and it was not so pleasant due to her unprofessionalism but decided to give her another try. I get a no chip and pedicure. Pay and leave her a tip. However she has a problem with the actual amount of tips left. I left $9 (which is what I had). She looks at the tip, says something in a negative tone in her language and storms off.... This is my 2nd experience of this kind with her. The first time I left $5 for my 7 year old daughters manicure ( which really wasn't too much work) (at least SHE didn't doo too much work). She pretty much said that she did all that work and was that all I planned to leave? WOW! I swear! I pay for my services with no issues. Wonderful experience! I came in from out of town and took a chance on this (admittedly) hole-in the wall-looking salon. So glad I did. Although the manicurists could not speak the best English, they were very nice and very skilled! I had a gel manicure and regular pedicure (no polish). They notified me of the extra charge for getting a design done, which I was very appreciative of. They also go through all the charges with you after. I was unclear that sge needed a soak off for nails so we did have to wait a small amount. Be clear with what you want when you schedule your appointment. I was not in a big rush and didn't mind the wait. If you are in a time frame or hurry you need to make sure you say that when you schedule an appointment. Prices are a bit on the steep side but you get what you pay for. My no chip lasts about 2 weeks! I also like that she used BRAND NEW tools fresh out of the package on my nails. The salon began to get busy and the lady was honest about how long the wait would be which is great. Hit or miss. I love this place, ice is the lady I always wish to do my nails, but I don't mind getting any other employee because they all know what they're doing. Except the only male I seen work there. He is horrible. My first time with him I hated it but didn't feel like I had place in complaining because I did not make an appointment.
