Our Hunter Douglas vertical blind had a broken handle. I thought they would just mail me small replacement part. Instead, they sent their repairman out to make sure all was well. Richard communicated well, and not only did he fix the handle but noticed the track was sticky. He attempted a repair, but concluded it really needed a new track to move smoothly again. The blind was old, so I was appreciating Richard giving it a good try and thought that would be the end of it. Instead, Richard went to bat for us with Hunter Douglas, who generously agreed to replace the track as well. Again Richard came out and replace the track in maybe 15 min. He spent a few minutes with us to go over the repair and confirm proper function. Works great now. Thank you Ricchard and Blind Alley, and for Hunter Douglas for standing behind your product. They arrived promptly, checked the functionality and alignment of every blind thoroughly (one of the blinds had a small manufacturing defect and they ordered a replacement right away) and helped dispose of all the clunky old blinds. About 6 years ago one of my Hunter Douglas Duette blinds needed a cord replaced. I took off the blind and took it to Blind Alley where they fixed it. Upon leaving they advised that it's a DYI type of job for those comfortable taking off the blind. Fast-forward to today when I went to the store for the same issue. Remembering the recommendation I didn't take the blind with me but rather the original manual that shows the model and the LiteRise system. I explained to the technician what I'm after. The technician seemed to have difficulties understanding what I'm talking about. In a rude manner he claimed that there are too many models and I need to be more specific. I pulled out the Installation-Operation-Care manual but he refused to look, raising his voice and becoming visibly irritated about my inquiry. This behavior doesn't deserve my business. Our initial consultation was with Joni and she was incredibly patient and knowledgeable. She took the time to go through all the different shade types and design options. The communication about ordering timelines and installation scheduling was also great. Claudia was always on top of keeping us up to date and they were very accommodating with rescheduling when our house closing was pushed multiple times. The installation itself was extremely efficient, they sent two installers and were done within a couple hours (and they did basically the whole house). At the time, close friends also bought a house but chose a different vendor. Our blinds are still there, while theirs had to be replaced. After almost six years, one of the blinds had a mechanical issue. I called, and asked for service. To my great surprise, I was reminded that Hunter Douglas has a lifetime warranty, and since Blind Alley installed them for us, there will be no charge for the visit, no charge for parts and labor. The serviceman came on time. And when I say on time, I mean 3:30 on the dot. He assessed the situation and determined that a part needed to be replaced. He replaced it, and took the time to make sure that the blinds were precisely balanced. And when I say balanced, I mean that even a Swiss watchmaker obsessed with accuracy would have been happy. I did something I don't do often enough. I called the store, spoke to their service coordinator, and told him that I hadn't experienced such great service call ever before. WOW, and I say wow again. Amazing service! Last week, one of the blinds in the family room broke, which meant that the room would no longer be as dark and easy to sleep in. My other half has been sleeping in that room due to a health issue, so this was a major set back for us. The manufacture was excellent, and the installation was professional, smooth, and efficient. Over the years, when problems occasionally cropped up (worn or frayed cords, malfunctioning mechanisms -- basically, normal wear and tear), the Blind Alley confirmed our purchase and sent out a repair person, who fixed out blinds, at no charge to us. (The first time this happened we couldn't even remember from whom we had purchased the blinds, but they were able to find us in their database when we gave them the serial number from one of the blinds!) We bought a Hunter Douglas shade from Blind Alley. back in 2007. 12 years later the cord that raised and lowered the shade finally broke, inside the mechanism. I called their repair shop and was able to schedule a repair visit for two days later. The repair person, Ray, arrived right at the beginning of the two-hour window I was given, and was done in 10 minutes. He was efficient, friendly, and even put some booties over his shoes to protect our floors and carpet. There was no charge for the work. We have other Hunter Douglas blinds in our house--older than the shade--and also purchased from Blind Alley. And when they need servicing, Blind Alley fixes them--at no charge. I'm a repeat customer of Blind Alley. They installed two large Hunter Douglas shades in my home in 2005. Now, in 2018, it was time to make a minor repair to the movement of those shades, and order new shades for two bedroom windows and replace 20-year-old shades in the living room. The Blind Alley Designer visited my home with samples, and took measurements. She matched the existing blinds exactly in color and style.
