I had a very frustrating experience with The Shade Store and would strongly caution others before ordering. I placed an order for two sets of drapery (Living Room and Dining Room) at the end of January, with an expected ship date of late February and installation scheduled for mid-March. At the end of February, I was informed that the fabric was on backorder until the last week of March, meaning production had not even started yet. While delays can happen, this already conflicted with the original timeline. On March 9, I was then told the order would ship on March 27 -- which directly contradicts the earlier explanation that production could not begin until late March. When March 27 passed, there was no update. After I followed up again, I was told that only the Dining Room drapery had shipped, while the Living Room drapery was backordered again. There was no proactive communication, no explanation of what changed, and no response to my follow-up. Even now, the only update I receive is that they are "checking with production," which means there is still no clear understanding of the order status. Key issues: - Contradictory and unreliable information about timelines - No proactive communication -- I had to chase every update - Very slow responses (often several days) - Partial shipment without explanation, with ongoing delays - Overall lack of ownership and accountability For a premium-priced custom product, this level of service is unacceptable. At this point, I have lost confidence in both their process and their customer support. I would not purchase from them again and would not recommend them to others. If you value clear communication and reliable timelines, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. The Shade Store has had our entire massive payment for an order placed over eight months ago. We still do not have the shades we were sold and we now have no confidence in this company. We have heard countless excuses for the long delays remaking shades after multiple failed installations (3, going on 4). The Shade Store just cannot seem to get it right. They keep having to remake the shades due to simple and avoidable issues in their own process. We ordered two blackout panels and two sheer panels for one big window, nothing crazy. They have had issues with measurement, mismatching fabric, missing hardware, mismatching carrier types, tracks improperly installed and pulling away from the ceiling, you name it. Each time shades are delivered and installed we essentially start over with a new mess. It is chaos. I finally asked for my money back after the cycle just repeated for the fourth time. The company representative told me they would refuse to provide a refund. Now we will evaluate options for legal action. Avoid this business and save yourself the headache. read more

Have worked with Nicole and others at this local store and customer service located in other parts of the country on a year-long mess of a project with this company. It seems no one communicates with other departments, very disjointed and unprofessional. Received either very delayed or no responses to emails. Very poor communication. I had the absolute worst experience with DuVonne Preisler who was assigned as the "designer" in my project, who clearly did not wish to give any design inputs. In our initial conversation after all the measurements were taken, she "educated" me on the difference in operation between a battery operated and hardwired motorized roller in the most condescending way, when I was actually asking about the visual difference between the two. When I tried to discuss design options, she told me to just look on the website and go with anything I like. She literally said to me at one point, "I can choose whatever fabric I want" when I asked for specific design recommendations for the window coverings. In the end, I asked if there is a manager I can talk to and she actually said "all the designers here manage ourselves". It felt surreal. The most frustrating part is that I've used the shade store before and I'm using these guys again because they were great last time. read more

I don't recommend this store at all. I bought from this store expecting a prime service and product, and I didn't receive neither of them. The drapery has sims everywhere. They didn't instal the drapery in the agreed day - 1 month after the purchase - because they forgot to send one part, which the installer told happens all the time. To return and finish the installation, they asked for additional 3 1/2 weeks, generating an impact because I've removed the previous blackout from my bedroom. The support was terrible, I need to follow up 3 times to have one answer telling they will see what to do. Terrible. I'll never do busines with them at all. read more

I really liked The Shade Store and their offerings for window treatments. They are a bit more expensive compared to a 3 Day Blinds, but their product and hardware is definitely better quality. We couldn't afford to do all our windows with them but did our master bedroom with them and very happy with the end product. I worked with Zalak Shah and she was very nice and patient with me. I had a lot of questions since I've been a curtain person forever and needed to be schooled on all the different window treatments out there. She was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. It took a couple months to finally figure out what I wanted to do with the master and she checked in every so often via email. I meet with her twice in the showroom and helped me figure out what type of blackout shade would work best. It did take a few weeks for the shade to be produced and the install date I was given was also a couple weeks after the estimated delivery date of the shade. However, I had a feeling that once the shade shipped I could contact Zalak directly and get a sooner install date, which was what happened. She was able to get me a new install date scheduled less than a week after the deliver of my shade. I was bummed we couldn't use The Shade Store for all our windows, but we saved the best for last. I had an unexpected bad experience today at this store. From the moment i walked in with my sister the lady sitting there was sassy and unwilling to help. Anything we asked she gave a response with attitude. At some point it was apparent she made a judgement that we could not afford their services. Maybe it was the the workout clothes we were wearing or simply her bias thought process. Us having enough money is not even the point I want to make. The point is you should never treat anyone differently regardless of how they look or what you think their income is. As mush as we would have loved to have a "Pretty Woman" moment, this is real life. This person is not going to learn a lesson. She is the type of person that has no remorse for how she treats people. Not only do I not want to give them business, but I don't want others to be treated this way either. There was nothing classy about her, and she left a bad taste for the store. read more

Throughout the process, I had to drop by the store a few times to pick up some samples and when Debbie wasn't there to assist me other sales people were also helpful.
