I've come to this place a few times so I feel like I can properly review Bleu Bear Sushi. It is phenomenal! It is now my go-to sushi spot. For apps, I've had the chicken karaage (so tender and crispy) and the shisito peppers (perfect seasoning). The traditional and specialty rolls are delicious (I've tried the shrimp tempura, the red dragon, the salmon lover). If you want to branch out, the Special Nigiri are also one to try (I got the Seared Sake Toro Yuzu Sauce, so so good!). The service is also amazing. This is the absolute best nigiri we've had. They have special nigiri options and one we tried was escolar with foie gras . It will give you a gastronomical experience that can't be matched. We've been to this location multiple times, the quality of the sushi, the food, everything we've ordered has always been on point. But I got a to go order tonight, and something has definitely changed. The grilled baby octopus was super tough and couldn't even be finished, the nigiri I ordered was OK but definitely not up to par with what we've had in the past, even the Wagyu was tough and stringy. Overall, a really great experience for a small place positioned in a strip center. Service was efficient and attentive, but not overbearing. The sushi was fresh and frankly exceptional. The salmon was nice, but we were a bit disappointed in the quality of the rest of the fish. The omakase felt heavy handed with toppers to try to hide the fish. My go to sushi spot! I've been a total of 3 times so far and every time, everything has been more than amazing. The nigiri is so fresh and I love it because they can do anything "seared". The fatty salmon MELTS in your mouth. And they don't use ANY imitation crab, so all of their dishes that has crab has real crab. Needed a sushi spot close to the airport for a quick dinner. I've seen the reviews and have wanted to try Bleu Bear for awhile now. As others have mentioned, GF menu is available on request which was helpful for my daughter. I enjoyed the salmon truffle and apple sashimi dish, unique flavors that work great together. Service was excellent, we had a brief wait to be seated but once seated multiple servers and staff were assisting us, refilling beverages, bussing, etc. According to my husband the place used to be a divey bar many years ago. I loved the dining room, a bit of an industrial vibe and still a nice bar area for both sushi and cocktails. This will be a new spot on our sushi rotation for sure! read more

This place was Amazing! We were seated promptly and a waiter greeted us immediately. They work as a team, so we were tended to by several servers during our dinner. Our server knew the menu well and guided us to order the Salmon and Apple to start with. He said if we love salmon sashimi, we will really like this. He was right!! I had a Cosmopolitan and my husband had hot sake. We also tried the Miso soup and house salad. The house salad had thier house dressing which is not a typical ginger dressing but I loved it all the same. We shared The Baked Snow Crab Maki and the Lobster Maki. Both were delicious! My favorite was the special nigiri hamachi yuzu - very flavorful, perfectly balanced, good mouthful. I would come back just to get this special hamachi yuzu (but for $8/piece, it would be a special occasion). The other sushi lacked punchy flavor, and the lean tuna, medium fatty tuna, fatty salmon, and regular salmon all tasted nearly identical to me. The wagyu lover rolls were extra chewy because of the asparagus and not worth paying wagyu prices in my opinion, but still tasty. The texture was spot on perfect, though. What a dream come true to have an incredible sushi restaurant with an amazing gluten free menu in Bedford, Texas of all places-- where I grew up and where most of my family currently resides. Bedford isn't home to very many restaurants outside of chains or diners, so Bleu Bear is an extra exciting addition to the dining scene. I was so thrilled to order spicy garlic edamame, miso soup, salmon sashimi, and a couple sushi rolls -- all gluten free and all absolutely fresh and delicious. The miso soup had so much flavor! The edamame was perfect and super savory. The "Salmon N Apple" was my favorite: 8 pieces of fatty salmon sashimi wrapped around a marinated apple slice, drizzled with truffle chili soy, and garnished with micro cilantro. I ordered nigiri and some maki rolls. I was excited to try this place off the reviews. The pictures looked spectacular so I gave it a try. The fatty tuna did not look appetizing the taste was none existent. The salmon and yellow tail were much better. Rice did not compliment the rolls and seemed to make the experience underwhelming. I know it's Texas but I didn't expect so much sauce on my roll to cover up the fast of many things. Less is more. I believe they could improve a few things but I'm not chef so I'll give this a three star. It's not exciting just better than basic sushi places who sale to many Japanese dishes. read more

This place hits hard where it really matters: food quality and harmony of flavors. First let me mention a few things: the ambience does leave something to be desired. Topped with otoro, truffle oil, and black tobiko. the otoro made this amazing and it had excellent taste and mouth feel. it was my favorite and i will be coming back for this Baked snow crab maki: with salmon, cream cheese, Avocado topped with baked snow crab, spicy mayo, kabayaki sauce, scalion. I had them hold cream cheese since cream cheese sort of disgusting. i have a soft spot for baked rolls and this felt great to eat. tuna lover's special still better but i'd reorder this Negi Toro Donburi: husband got, it came with an egg. it was pretty good and he enjoyed it. I started with the salmon skin maki - extra crunchy, flavorful, and light, but I'd recommend upgrading to the Salmon Lover Maki bc it has more balance, and is less about the crunch, more about the salmon itself and its filling. The volcano maki came loaded with toppings, sauce, and bold flavor - definitely more filling and satisfying than the salmon skin roll. If you enjoy something rich and layered, this one hits the spot, though my all-time favorites are still the Fire Ocean and the Salmon Lover rolls. I also tried yellowtail nigiri and red snapper sashimi. Both were very fresh - yellowtail nigiri had a buttery smooth texture, but the single pieces are more of a light add-on. We sat at bar and had access to full menu and tried a few basic rolls as well as a specialty crab/crawfish roll that was unique and delicious. Will be back to try more options in the future. I came here from my sisters recommendation whom I trust very much, however this heavily missed the mark for me. With the reviews and high peer praise, it's possible it was just an off day for them? My bf and I ordered takoyaki, the omakase set, black throat perch and ama-ebi. The Takoyaki was okay, the octopus piece was very small and only 1 in each. The black throat perch was served to us first and it was very fishy. I've never had it before so I wasn't sure if it was how the fish is. Then we got served the ama-ebi (sweet shrimp) which was also fishy... okay things are a bit off so far but we still had high hopes for the omakase set. Once received, the trend unfortunately continues. The sauce and fruit pieces cover up the fishy-ness for the most part but still not great. Again, I wanted to put trust into the peer reviews so I kept trying each piece and honestly only the wagyu was good (the final piece). After a bottle of sake to hopefully ease our sorrows, the total was ~$250 I decided to make the trip out here when I had wanted to go to Hatsuyuki again. I really wish I had because $250 for almost entirely mid and fishy sushi is my nightmare. Fishy-ness, I'm aware won't make me sick, but the experience and money loss definitely did it for me. The omakase was quite reasonable and came with a miso soup and small salad. My waiter mentioned they just recently dropped this omakase menu so this may change on a regular-ish basis. While in the area I had the craving for some good sushi and while searching Yelp, I found Bleu Bear. I stopped by for lunch and the ambiance was really nice and chill. I ordered the nigiri entrée which came with 9 pieces of nigiri as well as a salmon roll. The fish was extremely fresh and delicious but the choice of cuts was extremely surprising yet delightful. Along with the pieces you would typically expect like salmon, shrimp, etc, they also included hamachi belly, which was super tender, alongside with pieces of chutoro, which blew me away with how melt in your mouth it was). What a great place! in the SW corner of Harwood and Central. Lots of parking and really nice interior. My wife started with a house salad. Nancy recommended the Spinach Crispy Shitake salad. Winner! The bowl could have been 2x and she still would have eaten all of it. Miso soup was really good, as was the Shishito Pepper appetizer. We ordered some basic rolls (salmon/spicy tuna) and a special roll called the Spider Maki. That was pretty awesome. Also had the Salmon Tataki. It was on the milder side, but still really good.
