The place is clean and I loved the style of it. The employee asked if I had ever been to Blaze before which was nice, being that it was my first time. I ordered the Take Two. A young kid named Yebby was making my pizza. I order and as I'm waiting for my food a manager (assuming this by his dressy shirt) Chris, came out from the back. Yebby was now putting the finished pizzas into boxes. Chris was speaking somewhat loudly and being very rude when explaining things to him. The tone of his voice was very off putting and a little embarrassing to watch. Maybe Yebby was a somewhat new employee but he was friendly with the customers and from where I was standing seemed to be doing a great job. Yebby didn't box my pizza right when Chris told him to, Chris then made eye contact with me and rolled his eyes saying "I'll do it". Yebby was helping a customer that came up to the counter asking a question. Chris then called me up and said loudly "sorry about the wait". I didn't feel I waited very long and wasn't annoyed at all by Yebby's service. I understand there is a certain way of doing things behind the counter but there is also a certain way of speaking to employees, especially in front of customers. That said, I really enjoyed my food. The toppings were evenly spaced and the pizza was cooked perfectly. The garlic knots were delicious. Overall I enjoyed my experience and I will probably eat there again, just felt very embarrassed for the employee that seemed to be doing his best! read more

Had a coupon for but one get one free so we tried this last Friday for dinner. It was pretty good! It's basically like subway for pizza. You go down the line and let them know what you want on it. $7.95 for the pizza no matter the toppings! Great deal. Pizza was a little soggy bc we got it to go so if you go here just make sure you dine in. Tip: the line is intimidating but it goes fast so hang out for a bit and give it a try! read more

I was very happy with our experience. The employees seemed genuinely happy to be there. That equals a very well-run restaurant. I loved my pizza, a hodge podge of ingredients. I appreciate that I can load that sucker up and not be charged more for it. Every pizza is the same price. I polished off my pizza and I probably won't eat for a couple of days. Super yummy. Blaze is a great addition to downtown Des Moines. I've been to them before and was pumped to be getting one here. The concept is quick fired pizza at a reasonable price. We got a Simple pie, just cheese and sauce, was good and simple. We ordered the pizza and it was done within 3 minutes which is great if you're in a hurry or just don't like waiting on food. Beverage options include sodas and a few craft beers even. We sat on the patio which was great (considering it was late winter in Iowa) and got to enjoy our pizza. The location for this place will be great during the summertime, and don't forget to bring your parking ticket in to get validated if you park in their parking lot. read more

Okay this place is amazing. We came here because we got a flyer in the mail for a free pizza. We can in tonight to try them for the first time, and they did not disappoint! The "normal" thin crust is nice and crispy. We tried their pesto sauce, and proceeded to pile on mushrooms, peppers, onions, olives, basil, spinach, both kinds of mozzarella, goat cheese, and zucchini. It was heavenly. I highly recommend it. It lacked the flavors in every bite. The ingredients were super sparse. It was a little upsetting. #1 was great because I put every single ingredient on that made sense together. Mediterranean-esk pizza if you will. Every bite was great. Which brings me to the thing that I actually like about this place more than the fact it has super fast baking times... You CAN throw the kitchen sink on your pizza, and you don't get nickle and dimed for each ingredient. A great idea well executed! Anyone with kids knows that pizza ordering can be a HUGE hassle. No one agrees on toppings and nobody gets EXACTLY what they wanted. Problem solved. At Blaze, pizzas are individual sized and custom. You can choose from some well thought out topping combos, or go bananas and choose from several sauces & dozens of toppings....all for one price. The staff is very helpful and extremely friendly. They were great with helping the kids choose toppings and went above and beyond expectations. The pizzas are cooked at high temperatures, REALLY quickly (think a few minutes). The ingredients were fresh and everyone enjoyed their creations. What a great place for everyone! read more

I've eaten here three times in person and ordered delivery twice. Two of the in-person visits resulted in mistakes that had to be corrected. And now my second delivery order resulted in a pizza I had to throw out. I ordered a savory garlicky pizza with garlic pesto sauce. Instead my pizza was soggy and sweet with balsamic vinegar! And there's no way to report this to the restaurant. If you call, you end up at a call center that wants to take your order. The call center operator said she could transfer me to the restaurant but they "probably won't answer. They're terrible about answering the phone." No wonder - if they are screwing up every third order or so, they probably don't care enough to want to know. Never order delivery from this restaurant! I love how they work with you on a first name basis, verify your order, and check your preferences as it is built right in front of you. Always friendly! This is a favorite of mine for a quick stop. Tried Blaze today for first time. First, the positives; pizza wad delicious. Thin crust not overly done, good amount of ingredients and it was out of the oven before I got my drink filled. Just frightening. They dropped our pizza and it landed on the beer kegs. Then picked it up and tried to serve it. Thank god one of the people caught that it was malformed and tossed it. Pizzas were coming out of the oven faster than they could be sliced. They were balanced all over and on surfaces that were not sanitary, so even the pizzas that were "ok" were a little questionable. What happens in back where no one is watching? Also they were out of the salad we ordered and were like "oh well". But didn't offer a refund. The service here in the dozen or so times I've visited has always been top notch! I've ordered online, gone through the line with a specialty, gone through the line picking each item...no matter the method, it comes out to perfection. The price is surprisingly low compared to other locations and you essentially get unlimited toppings! It's like Subway but 100x better...and about the same price! I admit, I'm a HUGE fan of the blood orange lemonade. I could drink that stuff by the gallon! I do like their other drinks too and it's great they have so many high fructose corn syrup free options! And I think it's an even better meal when you can end it with an amazing s'more pie that's just been warmed up. I've been here alone and with groups and every time I've walked away smiling. Friend took me to the Blaze location near downtown DSM and I'm sorry to say that I will not be going back to that place. From the time I got in line to the time I got my pizza it was 25 minutes... and it wasn't even the noon hour. Ordered some Dough Knots which were greasy dough cakes with no flavor whatsoever. The Pizza was good but not after a 25 minute wait in line. Some of the staff looked clueless and the manager stood around on the phone the whole time. 2/5 read more
