When I want spaghetti but I just don't want to make it myself. This is my go to place because it's not too spicy. Recently ordered spaghetti & meatballs for lunch and then got an Italian sub so I had dinner later. Definitely recommend their pasta. Took a bit for everything to be cooked but it was definitely thoroughly cooked and piping hot when I got it. Plenty of bread sticks included. I tipped the worker 10.00 and Liz was pissed she replaced it I was told to come in when I wanted my replacement not my fault Liz was not an employee manager at that time so she spazzed out on me and the girl and told me dnt ever come back. I was picking up an order tonight for delivery. While filling out the obnoxious paperwork for pickup (that literally nobody else makes is do) the best part of "the Final Countdown" started to play on their radio. You know what part I'm talking about. Instinctively, I tapped the pen on the desk 4 times. Then 5 more times. This was all it took to set off the rage of the most unprofessional, rude, disrespectful little manager I've ever seen: "SHE'S COMING SO YOU CAN STOP TAPPING THE DAMN PEN!!!" She yapped from the safety of the office. I calmly explained I wasn't in a hurry. I just really liked the song. This is the part where normal stable people would say "OH! I'm sorry! I thought you were being impatient. My mistake." But that's not this woman's style. When I got the food just seconds later (because everybody else at this place has their act together and is always wonderful) she came out to reiterate that I would t stop "tapping the damn pen." It's sad too. Everybody else that works here is always SO NICE to me and has been for the 5 years I've delivered with them. I could tell the other people felt embarrassed. Fazolis should be too. They apologized for how long it took our food to come out, but they had 1 food runner and 1 at the cash register and not many in the kitchen. I went for lunch on a Friday at about 11:30. I wanted to eat in the mall food court, but most of the restaurants weren't open and didn't look like there was any life in them at 11 so opted for Fazolis. I went in and ordered and sat down, they brought my food out to me. Spaghetti with marinara and 3 bread sticks. I love the bread sticks, but usually prefer the pasta over the bread sticks. These breadsticks were fantastic though. I totally snarfed them up. I think I was the only one inside the restaurant. The drive through appeared to be busy. I'll be honest, I didn't have high expectations. We were planning on going to olive garden to get pasta because our 4 year old wanted some but wait was an hour. So we found a quicker pasta joint and this was it. Everything on the menu looked appetizing but I didn't think the food would come out like it looks in the pictures. To my surprise, everyone looked and tasted as good as the pictures looked. All 3 of us loved it. The complementary breadsticks were better than olive garden. They were buttery and super soft. Thing I will say about this fazoli's is I used them as a to go take out place and the staff were masked in the cashier area and they were willing to help you with little extras the people I was with wanted a couple extra little small things of sauce and they gave them no problem. The other thing was that you always got a couple of breadsticks which were really delicious and warm with your meal. We got the spicy's sausage ziti and the ultimate fettuccine alfredo. You can't believe the quality that you get in the fact that you're getting it to go in a container..... It really is fast food Italian .... if you need to reheat it in the oven you can and the speed that you get it. We took him home and ate them at home warmed them up just a tad and they were both still delicious it was truly enough for a second meal especially if you're a person of a certain age. I had to drive from Waukee to come to this location because my family wanted Fazolis. When I arrived at the drive thru, I placed my order as normal and when she repeated it back to me, she missed something so I corrected her. She repeated the order a second time and still got it wrong. I ordered a baked spaghetti for my mom, a regular sized spaghetti for me and a fettuccine Alfredo for my dad. I figured I'll pull up to the window and just correct the order in person because I understand how hard it is to hear on the headset. So I pull up to the window and she gets my order wrong AGAIN for the THIRD TIME!! Again, I repeated my order. I paid for my food, heard the drive thru window slam several times, and waited for my food. She then proceeded to tell me to pull forward which I did. I waited about 5-10 minutes and she brings my food out and right away see two meals instead of three. I paid 30 dollars for 3 meals. I told her I didn't have the baked spaghetti. She then looked up and said rudely "I'm done" and went back inside. I was so close to parking my car and going inside to talk to a manager. Very UNPROFESSIONAL customer service. After FOUR mistakes, she finally got my order right. After the experience I had tonight, I probably won't be coming back. There's better Italian places in town. But Fazolis....I just have a question for you. What happened?! You used to be great 15 years ago. I used to work there right after high school. Your customer service and fast and fresh Italian food was top notch. Now it's just downhill and your employees don't seem to care. It's very sad to see. read more

Say what you want to say about chains and fast food, but the Fazoli's on Merle Hay impressed me this weekend. I took my kids through the drive through sometime after noon this past Saturday. We were the only car in the drive-through... It's probably just my kids...but they can be a little indecisive sometimes. After a few minutes the woman running the drive through told me to just pull up to the window. I already had my window down, but I rolled my rear window down too. She explained the $5 special to the kids and I...and said that would get them drinks and save us a few bucks. Much appreciated. One special...ravioli and meat sauce with a Diet Coke for my daughter. Spaghetti and meat sauce with a Diet Coke for my son. Chicken parm for me...no drink. $19ish. Kids loved being part of the ordering process and honestly...they like the food. And you get a pile of it for $5... Hard to screw up pasta and their breadsticks are always good. But it was that extra effort that sets it apart for me. Dealing with kids isn't always easy... Every parent gets that. I'm seeing a lot of service failures noted lately on Yelp and similar social media sites/pages. Thankfully it's not something I have happen too often. My experience at Fazoli's, the gal at the McDs on 22nd that remembers me by voice when I come through (asks me if I'm sure my daughter wants Diet Coke...because she normally orders Diet Dr. Pepper), and the guys at the Tasty Tacos on Hickman who remember me when I call in and treat me like family when I walk in the door. And that's fast food. I can't begin to count the good experiences I've had at restaurants. I can probably count the bad this year on one hand... We do customer service surveys at both my jobs. I've always said two types of people fill out surveys, and I think the same applies to reviews to an extent... Both ends of the spectrum...the wow'd and the pissed off. It's something I try to remember when reading reviews...mine included. For every good or bad one we read there's probably a couple hundred people who walked away just being fine with their experience. They're a decent barometer, but in the end...they're just someone else's opinions. Hopefully we always remember to recognize the good stuff too. Wherever we find it...in the person across the table/counter...in a drive through...or even in our fellow diners occasionally. Even when an experience is less than perfect... Beware of the Fazoli's in Urbandale. Tonight we picked up dinner through the drive thru. They didn't return our credit card and within 2 hours had racked up over 1,000 dollars in charges around Urbandale and Des Moines. Target, Home Depot, McDonalds, Car Wash and the gas station. Seemed like they had done this before. Looks like they need to clean house on the crew that worked there tonight. Disappointed. read more

My parents are starting to enjoy this location. They do not yet have gluten free options but it allows them both to enjoy some fresh food and my dad to gorge on the endless bread sticks. I remember being here years ago and the bread was brought around like it was going out of style. The menu hasn't changed much over the years. The food is still the same over all in flavors but there is luckily more salads than the last time that I had visited. Unfortunately if you are gluten free that is the only other option that you have. Fazolis doesn't have any gluten free spaghetti or noodles at this time. I think they might have mentioned they were getting options some time in the near future but well have to see. OHH-kay. We used to have one in Minnesota, near Maplewood. I remember this place distinctively as a child because their sign was so cool. But by the time I was able to drive I guess they went out of business. Fazoli's is like, drive through domino's. Drive through pizza, pasta and other goodies. Now, this was my first time ever having Fazoli's and legit we made a pit stop on the way because we were driving down to Texas. Since I had never had Fazoli's but always wanted to try, we stopped by via drive through. I ordered what is, I believe the ultimate Fettuccine? It was fettuccine, Alfredo sauce, mushrooms, bacon and broccoli. I normally make my own fettuccine with broccoli and mushrooms at home. and although I don't really enjoy bacon this was okay. It also came with chicken. The price was alright, and it came with bread sticks and a soda. Overall, it was pretty freaking good. I mean, dude, its drive through pasta. I don't expect like 4 or 5 star dining but this is just as good as Olive Garden, or any other place that you can get pasta regularly that is not home made but is alright pasta. Bottom line: I would most definitely come back and order more pasta from here. In fact, if we still had one near by, I would most definitely go there instead of going to Olive Garden when I have pasta cravings. read more

Once the diet coke was out in the machines and the GM not only gave us a coupon for a free meal, but personally went to a store and bought back a can of diet coke. Within the last couple of years, they've gone the "Panera" route and now serve their food on "real" plates and use real silverware. It's a lot of chrome to cover up the fact they are still a fast Italian restaurant, except the prices have gone up to compensate for all the aesthetic touches. Paid $8.99+tax for a ravioli "combo" meal that comes with either salad or pizza and a drink. Got seven pieces of ravioli. No one ever came through the dining room with breadsticks, despite the restaurant not being busy. I was so excited to come here the other night, as I had not been here in over a year. When we walked in I got a little worried because the employees were all talking and joking around, I thought for sure it would be a difficult process just to order. But the second they saw us they greeted us and were so friendly. I would like to give a shoutout to our cashier, Dadrianna. She was super friendly and efficient. She made it sound as if she was new and was trying to get a hang of it all, but she was great! She checked on us at our table and said goodbye as we were leaving. As for the food, great as usual. I got the pick two for $5- pizza slice and fettuccine alfredo. I was able to substitute the fountain drink for a milk which was great. The breadsticks...amazing as usual. The only downsides is that the ordering counter seems very crammed and hard to move around with other people waiting. Also, the restaurant was freezing cold. We sat close to the front where you could feel the air the least and were still so cold while eating. Overall, I definitely recommend coming here for quick, cheap Italian food. We like this Fazolis. The service here is pretty good and the waitstaff is friendly. I saw something happen here that was kind of questionable though. A lady came in with her poodle. I don't have any real objections to people bringing their pets but I think there should be some kind of restaurant rules posted telling customers not to set their animals down on the actual counter top where people order and pick up their food. For very little money we got a good meal and it rivaled a restaurant we just ate at in Chicago...that charged a lot more money than Fazolis. As far as fast-food noodles go I couldn't be much happier!! The staff were friendly even if not very helpful with choosing a dish (to be fair, that's the customers job anyways). Ordering was a breeze and they cheerfully informed us that unlimited breadsticks come with the meal. They gave us a number and delivered our meal to the table with breadsticks shortly after. Typical fountain drinks. I got the limited time mac n cheese with roast beef and I have to say.. that's some of the best roast beef I've ever had which blew my mind. The pasta was cooked well and was cheesy! My Husband got the limited time mac n cheese with buffalo chicken and it too was fantastic. The breadsticks were surprisingly delicious! I mean.. better than Olive Garden breadsticks by far. Super soft and warm. My only complaint is that they kind of had too much butter (weird issue to have)... I'm patiently waiting for service at the counter while two Fazoli employees work in view. After about 2 minutes, an older white woman walks to the counter and stands to my right. One of the two Fazoli employee walks past me to go to the dining room, while the other immediately asks the woman to my right if she needs any help. I admit, I'm a big fan of Fazoli's. I would not normally go out of my way to review a chain restaurant, but this location impressed me this past weekend. Everyone was very friendly, the place was very clean, food was great--but what drove it over the line was our server/cashier. Think his name was Galdino--he was smiling and conversational, one of the nicest fast food employees I've come across in quite a time. I used to work in fast food, so I know how hard the job is and that it isn't always easy to keep a great attitude and such. Kudos to this location and its great staff! read more

Love the breadsticks. Will no longer be a customer. I don't order from fazoli very often went through the drive thru and decided to order the new limited offer items advertised at the top of the menu. What I received wasn't as pictured so I brought it back. I was told by the General manager that I ordered incorrectly because I needed to have said "twisted" to get what I really wanted because there were other items on the menu with the same name. When I asked why it wasn't clarified what I wanted he told me they did not have time to communicate in the drive thru. Please note they weren't that busy.
