Called the store to order pizza and was told that I needed to do it online. I don't have the app and don't live near a blaze pizza so didn't want to download it. I asked if I could just please order the pizza over the phone to which I was told to please order on the app. I tried to order online but was having trouble getting the website to recognize my location. I was in a bit of a rush and called the store back and asked if I could please order over the phone. I was handed off to a different employee. I ordered the pizza in less than 10 seconds as I was hoping to do on the original call. When I picked up the pizza, instead of a herbivore pizza they had given me a meat pizza. I can only assume that this was done intentionally since I didn't want to order online as was requested by the worker. Boo service. The original location that started it all... We have enjoyed coming here and still do. Located in the heart of Des Moines in a cool location by the ICubs stadium. Parking is plenty but in a gated pay per hour parking lot. -First 2 hours is FREE We get our regulars: gluten free vegan simple pies and high rise build your owns. We come to Blaze because of so many options for meat eaters and vegans. I've enjoyed coming here since the beginning because the employees always get it right. The guys at the grill know how to get it done. If it's done wrong or as a mistake it is taken care of professionally. Service is efficient and friendly. Shop is typically clean but during a busy hour it can look like a middle school cafeteria. We typically spend $40.xx for our family of 6. We have visited during different times of the days; best time to visit is a week day right before the lunch rush (12:00pm) and dinner rush (5:00pm). But they are just as efficient during the rush hour. Highly recommend for a quick pizza run and to satisfy all who are in your group with different tastes and diets. read more

Really disappointed in this Blaze location. I never leave reviews but they've messed up my order several times and did so once again tonight. After placing an order for pick up, they had my ticket on the wrong pizza and we walked out with someone else's order. I double checked when I got to my car and took it back when I realized. I was really wanting to love Blaze. We had wood fired pizza over the weekend and were all REALLY feelin it again. What a disaster... Luckily we ordered online (so it would be ready to eat there when we arrived) since we were short on time. I went to the counter to order a fountain soda and water cup. Another customer and I sat there for at least 5 minutes while workers continually walked past us, not even looking at us. Finally we got someone's attention and we both just got water cups since it was clear nobody would be helping us anytime soon. The picture actually look super good so maybe I would have enjoyed it more had it been correct? My kids cheese pizza was "decent" she said. YES. They were busy. And YES 99.9% of the time I am extra patient knowing that everyone is short staffed. But... this was insane and honestly felt like we were being punked. By the time I got back to the table to finally start eating, I found that my pizza was not quite what I ordered. It had a TON of pesto on it and I really don't like pesto. I wanted chicken on just half and it was on the whole thing. The tomatoes were barely warm (like they put them on midway through cooking or something....). Based on how long it took to get water cups, I didn't bother attempting to get it remade. GF crust was just ok... nothing special. My kiddo went up to get a cookie while I was eating and was completely ignored at the register like I was. She decided to jump in line behind the one customer ordering pizza. 10 minutes later, she was rudely told "that girl will help you over there" and pointed at the register. So back to the register she went. At this point, I finally walked up there and told her I'd get the dang cookie. I only waited a couple minutes before asking if someone could PLEASE help me. Literally all they did was take pre-made cookies, pop them into bags and set them at the front of the oven to warm. When the guy handed the bags to me, he had been handling roasted broccoli (w/olive oil) so the bags had olive oil and bits of broccoli on them. I felt terrible for the poor man that was in front of the oven, prepping pizzas, running the cash register, etc etc. I counted at least 5 employees yet when there wasn't a customer in line, they all disappeared except for the one man who was just trying to stay afloat. At one point, we saw him ask a female to assist him finally (WHY did he have to ask???). She seemed really put out by his request to do her job. She also was nearly groping another coworker who seemed to hate his job. Finally, because we spent so much time simply waiting for water cups and for someone to notice us long enough to pay for a cookie... parking cost us $5. You get a half an hour for free which should have been MORE than enough time. All in all, I spent almost $50 for a pizza that I barely touched, a kids cheese pizza, a cookie and parking. I've eaten a lot of pizza in my life - it's probably one of my favorite junk foods and in Des Moines we just didn't have that great of pizza selection - and a lot of it was super expensive. Now we have blaze and I must say this is the best pizza for your dollar. Blaze has fresh ingredients at a very reasonable price. I like that I can get as much as I want and different types of ingredients (GOAT CHEESE FTW!) and I know it's going to be good and fast. Their salads sometimes can be hit and miss in terms of freshness but it's not a big deal. This location is nice - it's in a complex on the outskirts of down town right behind the science center. It's easy to get to but be for-warned it's behind paid gates for parking. You can get your ticket marked at the blaze desk and you get a free hour (maybe two?) but just make sure to do that otherwise you have to pay to leave. read more

Didn't get to this places shout out soo thought we would dust off the memory banks too and give it some justification; this pizza shop was pretty new and wanted to give it a try, swung through, actually you park, walk past six other great food options then swing through. At first the size options thru me off~one size but the topping combinations are limitless. Nice layout and lots of room to grab a stool and chow down, I took mine to go? Always on the move but the to~go boxes are cool and as I remember not too hard to get into...sneeking a slice or two on the road. We came to this Blaze location only because they mailed a BOGO free coupon. On face value it seemed like a real deal. However, after this visit we're not sure if we'll be returning. The place was busy because they were behind in making the pizza dough. I'm not sure if thats maybe the reason why they were so skimpy on the toppings. I saw so much red sauce on my pizza because there was barely any cheese on it. Also, my pizza crust was very burnt. I didn't realize how burnt it was until I got home. My boyfriend got the thick crust pizza which is essentially two of their dough balls squished together into one crust. His pizza was undercooked because the dough was too chewy. This is the only Blaze location I've been too that requires a ticket to park. Validation is also required if you want to park for free. I'm not sure how much parking would cost without the validation. There are other Blaze locations that we enjoy so unless they mail us another coupon deal that can't be beat, we won't be returning anytime soon. read more

I love Blaze Pizza! Looks like I have a new favorite pizza place. Service is friendly, fast and efficient. You can choose from eight of their signature pizzas or build your own pizza and order whatever toppings your heart desires. Your pizza is ready in three minutes. You can't beat that! I've eaten at a similar pizza place in Denver called Pizzeria Locale that's owned by Chipotle and always wished that they would bring one to Des Moines. Now they don't have to because Blaze is way better. I love how you can order as many toppings as you want and it's only $7.95. They have a huge selection of toppings, too. I can't believe they have chopped garlic AND roasted garlic. Yum! They have three different crusts, including a gluten-free one. I also like how you can see your pizza being made in front of you as you order your toppings in assembly line fashion. The whole process takes less than 10 minutes. Even though the pizza is made quickly, they don't sacrifice quality. The pizza tastes delicious and has that brick oven taste. The 11" pizza is a good size, too. I left with a full tummy. I highly recommend the blood orange lemonade. It was very good. They also have pop and beer available. This is a perfect place to grab a quick and inexpensive lunch or dinner. Build your pizza in front of you - I'm sure this has been done before Blaze, but it was my first experience with it and I'm a fan. You can order a specialty or build your own, but either way you can customize it as it moves down the line. After that it's cooked in about 3 minutes, so there is little waiting, making it a good choice for lunch or anytime! If you're counting your calories, they are clearly posted on each pizza. The standard pizza is on a thin crust, but you can order other options, and one thin crust was plenty for each of us, with leftovers to take home. We got the vegetarian and the green stripe and both were fresh, hot, and very tasty. There is a decent selection of beer and soda and a few 'airplane' bottles of wine - I'd love to see more wine options, but I get that having wine here at all is a plus. The single dessert offering is a s'more pie. Now, that was not my favorite childhood treat, but I have to say this one is quite tasty with just the right amount of marshmallow and a crunchy, tasty cookie. Service is exceptionally friendly and attentive, and there is a parking lot for the building that offers a few minutes of free parking, but the restaurant also has a validation machine right by the cash register so that your 2 hour visit will be free. I selected the red vine pizza and added red onions and pepperoni. The husband went with the BBQ Pizza. As they built your pizza in front of you you could request extra ingredients.
