My husband and I came here to try the cavatelli for dinner tonight. We were hoping it would be as good as it was back in the '90s when they had two locations.
We both ordered the half size portion and were glad we didn't get the full size one because it didn't taste as good as we were expecting. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either. The sauce was kind of one dimensional and kind of reminded me of tomato sauce from a can but with a sweeter flavor. We both thought it needed crushed red peppers or some other spices in it. It tasted like something was missing. I got mine with sausage and vegetables and my husband got his with pepperoni and vegetables. We were both underwhelmed. It came with a small salad and two small pieces of bread. The salad was just lettuce, a TON of cheese and a few croutons. The dressing was creamy and sweet and it was just ok; not my favorite.
We noticed a lot of people getting carryout pizza. We were wondering if we should have gotten pizza instead. If we ever came back I would try the pizza. I wouldn't recommend the cavatelli.
The prices for the cavatelli were reasonable ($14.99 for half size and $19.99 for full size), but we thought the pizza prices were a little high. The amount of seating inside and outside was pretty good. Our waitress was nice and the service was good.
We're not going to hurry back anytime soon. Our experience made me wonder if this Orlando's is run by the same people who owned the previous Orlondo's. Maybe I'm misremembering but I always felt like their food used to be better. read more
