Even with the limited restaurant choices in Elgin, this is not somewhere I care to return to. We have given it several attempts, because my husband does really like their wings, but the negatives outweigh the positives. First, I fell their food is overpriced for the quality. Twice we've ordered pretzels & cheese dip as an appetizer and both times at least 1 pretzel was still frozen in the middle. The kicker, though, is their disregard for special requests. Due to an allergy, I ordered my burger with no mustard. When it arrived I found that it had mustard on it and sent it back. The "replacement" burger was an absolute joke.....apparently the cook had simply wiped the mustard off and sent it back out because their was still yellow spots on the bun and patty when it was brought back out to me. At this point I requested a manager, who was very apologetic, but things like that simply cannot be done in a restaurant, especially when allergies are involved. My husband convinced me to try them again a few weeks later. Though hesitant, I really wanted a burger so I ordered one, told the waitress about my previous experience, and stressed the importance of no mustard on my burger. Well, it had mustard on it anyway, at that point I sent it back and refused to return again. in the last week Blaney's Backyard Grille used to be my favorite place to get a hamburger. However they apparently must have changed their supplier because the hamburger patty is now half the size and not nearly as good. Tonight I decided to get wings and raw fries. The wings were OK but must have come from pigmy chickens. The crispy raw fries was so under cooked I couldn't eat them. My wife's medium raw fries appeared to have only been cooked for 15 seconds. The raw fries had to be thrown away. This is our last visit to this place, I sure miss the former owners. read more

The food was terrible!!!!! Chicken tastes like fish, beer was Luke warm, and the raw fries had a nasty silicone type stuff in it. The wings were over cooked and the fries were cold. This was a terrible experience. read more

Me, my wife, 8 year son and 16 month old daughter went. The building was very clean and the wait staff was friendly. My wife ordered my 16 month daughter mac n cheese of the kids meal. For $5.49 it came with 3oz mac n cheese in a cup and a 1 1/2 oz cup of applesauce. Charged us $1.99 for her drink... So don't recommend taking a toddler. I ordered the chicken philly. The grilled chicken tasted like it was microwaved in grease and it was very chewy. My wifes philly was so soggy when it came out the bread stuck to the plate. I really likes the sports theme on the wall. They have a lot of Boston things, guessing owner is from Boston. But very disapointed with the amount of food and quality of the food for the price. Great local wing place! My husband and I come here every so often for a beer, raw fries and wings. The wings are delicious! My only beef is the waitresses don't seem to know a lot about the menu, beer and wine list. That can be frustrating for a diner. Otherwise, a good place to take the family for an inexpensive meal out. read more

We went in and picked out seats. The service was pretty good for the most part. Our drink were always full and she seemed friendly. The wings from here are absolutely amazing. Went on a Thursday at lunch time no one in the restaurant waited 10 minutes and know one bothered to come out to seat us As we were leaving a women and said she was have a problem in the back but didn't know why the others sever did come out. The restaurant is notorious for being slow but having to wait 10 minutes would just add to the time and when your on a lunch hour you want time to enjoy your meal. I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon read more

I have come to Blaneys wings for several years they have always had the best wings in my option. My favorite sauce is the naughty and nice it is absolutely amazing, there restaurant atmosphere is awesome with all the TVs and they really do a good gob making it a fun restaurant atmosphere. The menu prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity you get. read more

If you want to wait an eternity for your food, go here! Absolutely ridiculous how long it takes to get your food, drinks, and to pay the bill! Debit card machine broken and had to go to the ATM to get cash. Food is bland and overpriced!!! This is the second time I've been here and both times it been this way. Will not come back. read more

And also waited at least 15 - 20 minutes each time to get a refill on our drinks after trying several times to get the attention of the so called bar keeper..with the owner of the establishment sitting and few bar stools from us... we have tipped well in the past but tonight we felt unwelcomed and probably won't be going back. read more

It was so nice, we had to do it twice. #Patricksigman came over to introduce himself and we also met Jeff the manager. After deciding on a few flavors (they have 19 or so) for the tailgate special, we found the wings were flavorful and meaty. The kitchen team outdid themselves. A great local place to eat. The mushroom burger was cooked just right and made to order when I asked for them to add grilled onions. Meatball sub has great flavor; meatballs could be a tad smaller to be more bite size (then you could get 5 instead of 4 on the sub) but tasted great and very filling. Kids meals have plenty of food for the price for my 8 & 9 year old boys. They ordered the cheeseburger and hot dog and loved the applesauce on the side and liked the choice of french fries or raw fries/wing chips. Wait staff is super friendly. Let me start by saying that this is the first time in my life I have ever written a review of a restaurant. The experience was bad enough to warrant it though. My family and I have been going here for a couple of years. 2 weeks ago we went and the food was ok, but not as good as usual. We decided to go back again tonight. To say the least it will be a long time before we go back if ever. The food was very much below the standard of Blaney's. We ordered fried mushrooms and mozzarella sticks for apps. They took about 30 mins to get them to us then the mushrooms tasted exactly like the mozzarella. After another 25 mins our food came out. The burgers were over cooked and so greasy the buns were soaked through. My husband ordered chicken strips and they literally tasted just like the mozzarella and mushrooms. My daughter ordered her favorite meatball sub and wouldn't eat it, because the sauce tasted burnt. We had to flag our server down multiple times to get something to drink then she disappeared. So we hunted down our own ketchup and napkins. Then it was another 20 mins just to get someone to run our credit card so we could leave. This is not the Blaney that we fell in love with 2 years ago. Their flavors of foods were always distinguishable and the food was always spot on. I'm not sure what has happened, but paying $73 before tip was ridiculous for what was received. My two daughters came home a fixed cold cut sandwiches because they were hungry. We would love to enjoy the good food and awesome service of the past again one day, but I'm not sure after two chances back to back that we will show up anytime soon. read more
