She genuinely cares about your hair health and she will keep it real with you. Dominican doobie shops get you in and out within 2 hours. This shop is not appointment based so walk in when you please! I don't think I'll ever go back to a shop with just one person again. The only con is that prices go by hair length so sometimes it can be inconsistent. I recommend going during the week if you can because weekends tend to get extremely busy. There is metered street parking in the front of the salon and there is also a metered parking lot in the back. $1 for 2 hours! All hair types are welcomed! Definitely give this salon a try.

Not closed, not sure why it says this…read more Pros: Overall amazing experience. Natural and haven't straightened my hair in 4 years and didn't really detangle so I know it was a struggle. Was charged $55 total (45 for doobie, 10 for trim), says on the price list (35 and up for natural hair, my hair is thick/ long so ended up 45). Two big things I was hoping for was that it came out straight/ silky since my hair is thick/ 4b kinky curly & that they still thought about the health of the hair in the process. Both of these were met, hair looked shiny/ silky/ healthy. Only passed through 1 time as they straightened and I worried it wouldn't be as straight but was silky/ straight and better for my hair in the long haul. Wait time was best part, wasn't really busy but was Saturday before Valentine's Day so was glad to go in at 2 and get out by 4. Was seen immediately, as no one else was present, over time 2 other clients eventually came in as well. Customer service was also good, which can sometimes be lacking in doobie salon's, especially for Black women where you may feel exploited/ belittled. Felt like I was treated like any other customer would've been, very light positive, generally professional energy from all staff. They even had some hip hop playing amongst the bachata. Also saw a stylist who seemed Black and gender nonconforming, which made it seem even more inclusive (not that necessarily means anything as far as bias, just something positive I saw as far as representation). Cons: Minor things, location was difficult to find (located in the back of the barber shop so from outside looking in, just looks like a barber's). Two diff stylists were also switching out during the blow drying process, which I get cause it was a lot lol. But they had different blow drying methods so made me feel like the look was going to come out inconsistent (though thankfully it didn't). These things were all minor to me so I'd def return and would give 4.5 stars if that was an option.

5 Stars - A Fantastic Experience at Blanco Salon I recently visited Blanco Salon for a haircut and decided to take a chance on a completely new style based on Maria's recommendation. I'm so glad I did! The result exceeded all of my expectations. Not only do I love my new look, but I've been receiving compliments from friends, family, and even complete strangers ever since. Maria is incredibly talented and has a great eye for what works best for her clients. She took the time to understand what I was looking for and guided me toward a style that feels fresh, modern, and perfectly suited to me. Beyond the haircut itself, the entire experience was exceptional. Maria and her team have amazing energy, make you feel genuinely welcome, and go out of their way to make every client feel special. The atmosphere is warm, professional, and uplifting from the moment you walk in. If you're looking for a stylist you can trust and a salon that truly cares about its clients, I highly recommend Blanco Salon. Thank you, Maria and team, for helping me feel more confident than ever! When I walked in to Vicki Popp, I could tell I was the last appointment, and that they just needed to finish my hair before they could go home, but at no point during my appointment did anyone make me feel rushed, unwelcome, or uncomfortable. In fact, my stylist took as much time as I needed to discuss my haircut and what I could do with it to make improvements. Valeria, my stylist, was extremely knowledgable in hair, giving me tips and tricks as she went along. It was clear that she knew what she was doing when we discussed the cut I wanted. Unfortunately doing the exact style I wanted, wasn't going to be possible due to my hair not having grown in enough in the front, and she was honest with me instead of plowing along, knowing that it might not turn out well. After some discussion, we finally settled on a style that would look good and that I liked. She made the process painless and easy, and I actually relaxed! She is engaging and fun to talk to. It honestly felt like I was talking to a friend, and I almost asked her if she would like to hang out sometime, but luckily reigned myself in. She's too good of a hair stylist for me to ruin with my friendship! I definitely recommend this salon. I also currently have a bob and was looking for a more fun way to grow it out. I ultimately decided to have the extensions put in. They were fine to begin with. The cut that she gave me was terrible, it was like I had a mullet, super heavy in the back and just about no hair on the sides, other than my own. It was impossible to style without it looking like I clearly had poorly installed extensions. I had to go back twice. One of the clips was sticking in my scalp behind my ear. She fixed it, then I had to go back again because the bottom track was coming completely undone. About a week and a half later the entire bottom row came completely out. I had to remove all the extensions myself because it just looked ridiculous. Almost $1000 between product, installation, glaze on the extensions (that didn't need it) and a cut and blowout. I messaged them to cancel future appointments and let them know what had happened. Of course they wanted me to come in to fix it, but at that point I had already taken them out and have a terrible taste in my mouth about the entire experience. I've been getting my blonde hair done for over 15 years so have been to tons of salons, seen many stylists, and have had every technique under the sun done to my hair during blonding sessions. When you've had this much experience getting hair done there are certain things you look for that really set apart some stylists from the rest. Two of the main things which I really appreciated from Gabby during my babylight session was that 1) she took out the beginning foils about halfway through her foiling [when you have thick hair or are getting lots of foils this is almost always a necessity to avoid over processing in the starting sections] and 2) she took me back to the chair to properly give my shadow root, during which she was super meticulous to leave out the money piece section until the end [lots of stylists will have you hover over the shampoo bowl uncomfortably while they slap the toner on]. It's little things like these that build my trust in a stylist and I VERY much appreciated. I'm picky and am usually one and done with most salons when trying somewhere new because I'll walk out with splotchy spots or overprocessed/overtoned hair [don't even get me started on my horror show of an appointment at Cranford's Hair Studio 924]. I can say I'm confident I found my forever hair home at Blush. Other things which didn't affect my hair specifically but made a great experience was that Gabby is also one cool chick. She wasn't overly chatty (bless these stylists for working and talking in masks all day) but just enough to be friendly and avoid too long of silence. The salon is adorable and could be pictured in an anthropologie magazine. Chalk it up to the quarantine rules [less people = more personal hair attention], relief of finally being rid of quarantine hair [I couldn't even look at myself in the mirror], but everything about my visit was wonderful and I left one very happy customer!
