Blake's Lotta Burger
Sergio B.

Hungry Hungry Hungry. Stopped at Loves truck stop and asked about their favorite local Burger. They said to try Blake's Lotta Burger up the road. We went and it was Great! Not sure why they aren't more popular. Very satisfying.

Blake's is kind of the In and Out Burger of New Mexico. We popped into Gallup and Twyla was so excited to go here; she loves Blake's! As is par for the course in N.M., we went after the green chili cheeseburger. I actually thought that it was rather good! The flavor profile was awesome! The chile added just the right amount of heat and the flavor that Hatch Chili's are known for. It is all counter service. Th are many offerings on the menu and my onion rings were mighty tasty. It is a must stop for Twyla and I on our way over to see friends and family in Albuquerque and Santa Fe.The one we stopped at was in downtown Gallup and there are many stores (trading posts) to see and tons of history to read about regarding this historic town It is nothing fancy but a good stop on way through. #vino2 #vinosquared #vino2ultimate #vino2

Crew doesn't what they are doing, giving away your orders to different customers and take their time messing up your order again!

I had a cheese enchilada, refried beans & rice. Had a side of chips & salsa. Husband had Jerry's open-faced burger with red and green chili. Both meals came with sopapillas. Everything was fabulous! Such a great way to get what felt like a true picture of Gallup, NM.

I don't believe they have a parking lot as we only found street parking. We arrived around 11:00am. There were about 4 parties ahead of us but were seated within 15 min. Janelle once again was our server. She is so friendly and efficient. Despite every table being filled, she finds a way to give attention to everyone and ensure they have everything they need. I decided to order Miguel's Delight again since I loved it so much last time. Chili relleno and chicken enchilada smothered with green & red chile and cheese and comes with a crisp beef taco. Served with rice, beans and sopaipilla & honey. $12.20. It was tasty and the price is very reasonable for all you get. I thought the chili relleno was a bit overcooked this time but it was still flavorful. We took the sopaipilla's home and they provided take out honey. They do have Coke Zero which I enjoy much more than Diet Coke. Another great stop. Staff is so friendly and the food is delicious comfort food.

My New Mexico native boyfriend loves Blake's and we make it a habit to visit Blake's as many times…read moreas possible on each visit to his home state. This was our first time driving to Albuquerque from San Diego and we were ecstatic to learn that there were three Blake's locations in Gallup. This was the only location that serves breakfast all-day though and my boyfriend is primarily obsessed with the meatless breakfast burrito with red and green chile so we knew this would be our lunch spot. I wasn't feeling a burrito for lunch though and debated between the three chicken options before settling on the chicken strips with upgraded seasoned fries and cherry milkshake. Somehow, we had never tried the seasoned fries before and they will now become a part of our regular rotation as we loved them! Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the chicken as it was just okay. I think my biggest issue though was the ranch, which was can make or break a meal for me, and it definitely broke it here. It tastes like bottled ranch and not fresh homemade ranch, like our other New Mexico obsession (Dion's) makes. I think if the ranch had been better, or if I had asked for barbecue as another dipping sauce option, the chicken would have been more enjoyable too. Luckily, the fries were delicious on their own and the cherry milkshake continues to be one of my favorite things and I'm so glad Blake's offers it as an alternative the other traditional flavors. The wait for our food seemed like it took awhile but we used the downtime to stretch our legs and take our dogs for a walk. Just don't expect this time be a quick fast food like stop.

I waited 30 minutes in line for my order and I drove up to the drive up window and my order still…read morewasn't ready. I had to wait again, finally asked for the manager and complained, ended up getting a refund. Also, a long line of cars behind me, not going back there anymore.

It isn't every day you discover a gem in the middle of the desert, but Oasis is precisely…read morethat--both literally and figuratively. On my drive home, I kept searching for a decent place to eat. Navigation, Waze, and Google Maps offered plenty of options, but nothing hit the mark; I either passed the exits or found the top-rated spots uninviting. I wasn't starving, but I wanted to grab a bite so I could drive for hours uninterrupted. I parked out front. There weren't many customers, though given the time of day, that made sense. Walking in, past political and cultural cues that felt deeply familiar, the first thing I noticed was how spotless the place was. Salwa greeted me with a genuine, calming smile and invited me to sit anywhere. Other tables were occupied by people from all walks of life, all enjoying their meals. She suggested the lamb, but despite growing up with lamb as my main red meat, I've recently developed a sensitivity to its gamey aroma. Instead, I picked an appetizer and a main dish. The appetizer arrived in a generous portion meant for two or three people. With every bite, I told myself, Just pack it for the hotel, but I simply couldn't stop eating. The texture and flavor were unbelievable. Then came the main dish--beautifully prepared and so delicious I had to finish it, even if it meant risking a food coma behind the wheel. The fresh bread, which I hadn't even ordered, was equally impossible to resist. The food carried a comforting, homemade quality reminiscent of my wife's, my mother's, or my late grandmothers' cooking, despite coming from an entirely different culinary tradition. Salwa and I chatted throughout my meal. Her calm, hopeful, and positive spirit gave me far more energy than the food itself. When I learned she was out of her signature desert, I decided against ordering another sweet, not wanting to risk anything that wasn't made by her hands. I jokingly asked why she was here instead of San Diego, but in truth, I'm glad she isn't. If she were near me, I'd be there every single day like a hungry wolf, destroying my health markers--though I'd die one of the happiest people alive, having eaten the most delicious food imaginable. As it turned out, the meal was balanced, light, and made with pristine ingredients. I mentioned how perfect the grilled tomatoes and onions were in texture, taste, and presentation, and she shared that she buys them fresh every morning from a local market. I used to think Base Camp at Everest, Patagonia, and Machu Picchu were the only items on my bucket list. Oasis is now the fourth--and by far the most accessible. Thank you, Salwa. You and your restaurant are true jewels in the rough.

Everything was delicious. My friend had a schwarma sandwich in pita, which she enjoyed. For dessert, the baklava was not homemade but they had 2 kinds of imported, and we tried both. They were tasty, though not crispy. The Turkish coffee was strong snd hot, not too spiced. Definitely eat here if local, and skip the chains!
