I loved this delicious breakfast restaurant!!!! (Yes. 4 exclamation points) The atmosphere is amazing. The regulars are super nice. Great service and wonderful food has led me to think that it was worth the drive from Greenfield, Indiana. This is much better than stopping at any Bob Evans or Cracker Barrel along the interstate. The food was scrumptious, melt-in-your-mouth, and all-out AMAZING!!!! This was a great final meal to my vacation to Brown County! I've been going here since I was a kid with my family, and the food is just as good now as it was then. My favorite time to go is for breakfast/brunch. All their food is fresh and tastes like a home cooked meal. Some of my favorite menu items are the biscuits and gravy (melt in your mouth!), the oatmeal, any of the pancake stacks, and their hash browns. Give it a try, you'll love it! read more

Horrifying experience today! Have been many times with no problems. Today, I spent an entire hour there waiting on them to be able to cook a burger medium. After 3 attempts, it was a give up. And all the manager/owner could do was say "ok" repeatedly. Our waitress was very unattentive. The fact the owner didn't really care what was going on is the worst part about this. read more

As the kids are wont to say these days: "OMG!" Having never been there, and just finding out about it on Yelp, the wife and I headed down to Hanger 5 late this morning to have an early lunch. Nice drive into the country to the Columbus Air Park, easy to find the air park using mapquest.com, great dining room with big windows all along the runway and taxi area, great view, peaceful and pleasant atmosphere. Had to search a little to find the restaurant once in the airpark, not a lot of big signage down there, but paying attention to the directional signs will get you there eventually. Nice air park, by the way. Very clean and neat. Seated promptly, drink order taken promptly, meal order taken promptly, not a long wait for lunch to arrive. We were shocked that they didn't need to use a Hi-Lo to haul our two lunch plates out to our table. My wife saw the waitress heading our way with two plates on a tray and said "Oh, My Lord." Sorta like an old folks' OMG. She had ordered the Meat Loaf Manhattan which comes with real mashed potatoes AND TWO SIDES! She chose cole slaw and a cup of potato soup, which did come out before the meal and was simply outstanding. No surprise on the great soup, since the owners of Hanger 5 also own Soup By Design in Columbus. It says so right there on their menu! Anyway, there had to be 2 pounds of meatloaf on her Manhattan. Really thick cut, big loaf on two extra thick slices of bread with real dark beef gravy and as mentioned, real mashed potatoes. She ate until the cows came home and still brought half of her meal home for later because she got so full from half her plate. Huge portion, hot, attractive on the plate, outstanding in the mouth! I had Alaskan Whitefish after flipping a coin between that and salmon patties with cajun remoulade. Don't often see whitefish on menus, or salmon patties for that matter. Most fish dishes have tilapia or cod or something, so when I see Alaskan Whitefish, it merits immediate consideration. Had fries and coleslaw as my sides and there were 2 big filets, lightly and crispy breaded, and excellent to eat. I cleaned my plate. Best of all, my whitefish was only 6.99, so with two soft drinks (free refills,) and two monstrous-big lunch servings of hot, great tasting food, our bill was less than 20 bucks! We did add a generous tip, but still, 20 bucks for what we had is a value not to be missed! We will definitely be going back, and often. Our next planned visit is going to be earlier in the morning because we have got to try breakfast after seeing their breakfast menu. Although breakfast is served all day (hours are 6:30 AM until 2 PM,) breakfast is best eaten early for us. Can't wait! You shouldn't, either. This is great food, and lots of it, at a great price! A very unique place to have an all American breakfast. One can enjoy the view of private planes landing and taking off from the restaurant as it's windows allow you direct view of the runway. Interesting little restaurant onsite at the Columbus, in airport. While we were there people were flying in on small planes and helicopters just to eat at this restaurant. I had the chicken strips which were really good. It seemed like the wait was a little long but seems to be a favorite place to eat for the locals. read more

My wife and I would have liked to have eaten there today but we didn't. Apparently reservations are required on Mothers Day, and they didn't make any accommodations for fly-in guests. This is a local establishment that happens to be on an airport, not an airport restaurant. According to their manager, fly-in guests only account for approximately 3% of their business. Not recommended for fly-in guests. Call me, disappointed.... read more

Hangar 5 got a recent remodel. Visually, it's terrific. The place certainly has been upgraded (new fixtures, booths, lights, etc.) However, some things have happened that you should be aware of to make your experience just as good as it has always been. The 8 booths have been replaced with 10 booths which is great for accommodating more people, but by squeezing in 2 more booths, there's now less room in EVERY booth for folks who like the extra space. If you're fit (trim, skinny), it should be no problem. If you're not fit (like me . . . or have a big gut / chest), then there's not really enough room in the booths. If you go to a table, don't sit in the "middle aisle" as there is now a ceiling vent that runs the length of the restaurant that blows a quite noticeable stream of cool air on your (and your warm breakfast / lunch) during your meal. So, see if you can get a seat next to the wall adjacent to the kitchen or a table in the far left corner (as you enter). The food and service (and the experience of watching planes comes / go) is still as excellent as it has always been. I'll still frequent B's H 5 as my top 2 choices in Columbus (Lincoln Square being the other) but I'll take my own seating advice as noted above. read more

The location was great BUT it was very frustrating that the menu items that we went there anticipating (Gluten free waffle and Corn Beef Hash dish) were not on the menu. It was very, very busy and we had to wait 30 minutes but it would have been worth it if they had what we wanted. We arrived at 10 am and didn't get out till noon so service was very slow. There was a boil water advisory. We Got charged 1.79 for each single can of coke. All we wanted was water. They said they were out of bottled water but we called and asked. When asking cashier why we got charged for a single can of coke the Cashier "Ya sorry I don't have any control over that" in a rude sarcastic tone. You shouldn't be charging people for 1.79 canned pop when you don't get refills or let them know your charging for it. The female server also seemed rude. Never said thank you or anything. This is our go to place in Columbus. If you haven't been there lately it is totally remodeled so you are in for a treat! We go there usually three times a week. It is a great place for me to go with friends for brunch! Whether there are two of us or twelve they can comfortably accommodate us. It is also a fun place for couples to meet as it is quiet enough to visit. Our grandson loves to go there and watch the planes land right by us. The new menu has something for everyone!!!! There is a senior menu as well as a kids menu. Prices are low and servings are large! The food is delicious and served by a friendly staff. What more could you ask for in a restaurant!!!! read more

The food is really good and good price. The back wall is all glass so that you can watch the airplanes come and go. I was stationed there in 1965 as an Air Force Base and this was the Operations building. I enjoy going back there to eat because of the service, food and the view of the air field and planes. I wanted to like this place--it's clean and it's cool to watch the planes through the big window. The waitstaff was crazy busy, but our waitress was so sweet and she really tried to give us the best service she could. But the food--not good at all. I ordered the meatloaf with corn and mash. The mash was from a box, not real potatoes, and the corn from a can, gloppy brown gravy smothered everything (I said I didn't want gravy, but I couldn't send it back because our waitress was being run ragged). The meatloaf was a generous portion, but it was so greasy it was almost inedible. Very popular place, but they need a real chef. read more

We've eaten here before on previous visits and this place never disappoints! Today we had 5 people in our party and the service was fast and friendly! The food is always good and portions are generous! I had the Atterberry breakfast and the smoked sausage was AWESOME!! My hubby had the biscuits and gravy and it seemed to be a mountain of food!
