We had a positive experience and work was excellent. A new crown was built and tuck pointing was done on our large brick chimney.

Called for an estimate. Some guy showed up at the door with a booklet and smelling of alcohol.

Trust is 100% restored knowing that if problems come up they will take any action needed to follow up. I will also say that the work they originally did was actually to code, and we agreed that the moisture problems arose due to the nonstandard setup of my dehumidifier, NOT because of errors in Terra Firma's work. Thank you Terra Firma.*** Unfortunately, I have to drop a negative review in the interest of warning other folks that their work has gone downhill. I previously had an excellent experience with Terra Firma for management of a water problem in my crawlspace. I hired them without question again for my current property for management of moisture issues, and I didn't check their work upon completion as thoroughly as I should have. Unfortunately, about 1 - 2 months after completion of work, I discovered a large mushroom growing out of one of the structural posts in my crawl/basement. On closer inspection, I noticed that the dehumidifier water discharge line they installed was dumping less than a foot away from my foundation, corresponding to the exact spot the mushroom was growing. Moisture was the exact problem they were supposed to fix, but now they have created a severe structural problem secondary to moisture with the dehumidifier line dumping large quantities of water right next to my foundation. In other words, they created the exact issue they were purporting to fix by collecting the moisture and depositing it into my foundation. Once fruiting bodies are growing out of wood, this is an indicator that the wood is severely compromised and the fungus network has grown extensively. I now have a very expensive and serious problem to fix. I called to let them know about the problem, not sure if I will hear back from the coordinator/ the team who did the work. I am not sure if I would trust them to fix the issue after the damage they have caused, but I would accept financial remediation. If they take steps to make things right, I would update my review. I would not hire Terra Firma again for any crawlspace work, be it structural or moisture related because of the big problem they have caused. Again, just would like to warn others.

He wasted time by having me watch a video of their process, and attempted to get me to agree to a proposal the day of - estimates running in the $15k-$50k ranges. Their estimates came in higher than their competitors by about $5k including Groundworks. When I informed him that I would not be using their services, he replied with, "What are your plans for your sagging floors? How do you plan to address this?" I have met with many contractors on this same issue, and no one else aside from Groundworks and TerraFirma has attempted to blow our issues out of proportion. However, Noah did offer to do a side by side comparison of the other offers with his, which I did not take. I ungraciously assumed it wouldn't have been attempt to price match, but to take another opportunity to push me more on his proposals. Don't use them, if you want to avoid fear mongering and overpriced services.

The one star is for responding quickly to schedule an appointment and letting me know they were…read morerunning late that day. Jody removed the glass front, and I heard "oh no, this is not good" before anything else was done. He removed some fireplace glass into a bag, and after looking at it for a few minutes deduced it had been altered and was unsafe for use. I was quoted $6,000 to remove the mantle, rip out the tile, replace the fireplace, and retile. After advising him that was not in my budget right now, the price dropped. It dropped a second time before he left. He was asked for a bid in writing and agreed to provide one. The appointment was October 9th. On October 16th I asked about the bid and was told it should have already been sent out. I confirmed my email address. Nothing has been received as of October 21st. Here is the kicker . . . something didn't sit right with the appointment, especially with the three different quotes before he had left, so I had another fireplace company come out to look at it, as well as my contractor. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE FIREPLACE. It was cleaned (which Jody had not done) and everything was checked to make sure it was safe and functional. The only thing that needed to be replaced were the batteries. I paid $218.50 for the removal of some fireplace glass and an attempt to pull one over on me. I will be filing a complaint with the appropriate authorities. Needless to say I won't be needing the bid any longer.
