I was very surprised by the prices--they were low compared to where I am vending now. So low that I might not even put in an application to vend there! BUT I will definitely be shopping there more for my own treasures! This place is CLEAN! And nice to wander around in. A really fun selection of stuff to gawk at! It is worth a visit if you are in the area. Close to I5 so you can hop off the freeway and also hit the Poodle Dog Restaurant after. No one followed me while I was shopping but I can see why they might do that. The antique mall I vend at has a problem with shoplifters, and most of the people swiping stuff do not look the part so there really is no need to be offended by being "profiled." They have cameras out and post photos of the shoplifters when they can. No vendor wants to lose inventory and Fife Antique Mall is trying to protect the vendors so I get it. But I also get why people might be offended if being followed by staff lol. There is really no solution to that--at least not that doesn't involve even more invasive handling like your bag and pockets checked when you leave. At least it is better than when you go to big box stores and half the inventory is locked up and needs a staff person to get to! The no bathroom thing does suck a bit though. I am sure that is due to the shoplifting problem. So many places these days will not let you use their bathroom but it is too bad they don't give exceptions to older folks and people with kids. Shoplifting will just get worse as the economy tanks but hopefully people who steal will be more focused on food and essentials than vintage treasure.

S&S is among one of the funkiest/fun antique places I've been to. The building itself is a cool antique, full of mystery stairs and wooden ramps which used to support Model T's, I presume. It's helpful there are in-house cats which roam, as well. I hope this place doesn't change along with some of the other nearby once-nostalgic Tacoma places.

Whoever thought having "all records $5" right next to a "records $10-$15" sign and telling me "yeah, I barely work here and don't know why that $5 sign is there" tells me one of two things. You're lying or incompetent. There is a huge collection of records, and most of them are missing, damaged vinyls/sleeves, and complete unknowns not even worth $1. Do better with your prices or try to clean up the collection, and work at it a bit.

My mom had the spinach and mushroom, delicious too! The atmosphere is straight out of a vintage French café, with antique décor, cozy seating, and a warm, inviting vibe. It's the perfect place to relax, catch up with friends, or just enjoy a quiet coffee break. And for coffee--their espresso is smooth, syrups are one of a kind, a perfect complement to their crepes! The store offers a combination of local artist creations, antiques and replica merchandise. Their main focus is smaller decorative items, but they do offer shabby chic type furniture as well. I wish we could have spent more time in there, as I know we could have dropped more cash. We did manage to leave with a few beautiful antique glassware items that will look great in our bungalow home. Plus, they will remind us our our trip; a win/win. Their prices were reasonable, especially for the replica merchandise. I did think some of their antiques were certainly priced on the high end and since I wasn't really finding myself in a position where I couldn't leave without something, I didn't test their willingness to negotiate. Downtown Sumner offers a number of small antique and cottage stores. We need to find a way to ditch the rug rats and get lost in the stores. Something to look forward to next time...

St. Vincent de Paul thrift stores aren't my favorite -- I've never had particularly good luck…read morethere, the inventory never seems great, and their regular prices often seem high (perhaps to offset their 50% off storewide sales). So I hadn't gone out of my way to visit this store until I happened to be in the area... and nothing about it changed my mind. This store is off the beaten path, but it is pretty large inside. It's basically like a warehouse inside, with cement floors and not much personality. Unfortunately, like many St. Vinnie's, the store felt understocked. The wall of purses had just a few hanging up, and there were large open spaces between the underfilled racks. Maybe I'm just used to Goodwill, where the racks are filled to overflowing, but it felt somewhat sad and picked-over, especially in the housewares section. (They were having a 50% off sale that day, so I'm sure it *was* fairly depleted at that point.) The one area where I think St. Vinnie's stores DO excel is their books. They tend to have large book/media areas with surprisingly new, good titles, often hardcovers, for good prices -- and they're a bargain at 50% off. But this store's book selection was not as good as other stores, and I didn't find anything I wanted to buy, even at half off. So, overall, not one of the better St. Vinnie's in the​ area, and not one that I'd go out of my way to come back to.

Each antique dealer has their own aesthetic, and it's typical for each one to specialize in certain items or periods of time, e.g., kitchenware or linens or the 1960s. Not every antique shop is obligated to appeal to men in order to be worthy of five stars, just like not every clothing brand needs to appeal to every gender or age group. This particular antique shop has teacups, postcards, jewelry, art, a small assortment of lamps and light fixtures, linens, knick-knacks, etc. I would say most items are from the mid-1900s or earlier. The owner sews felt Christmas ornaments and table runners by hand, and she also makes charming earrings from old necklace beads and, I think, chandelier crystals. Her shop is one of the tidiest in the area, and her prices are very fair. I enjoy going there to check out what's new.

But just know this is a WOMAN'S sort of antique store - 90% of the stock, at least today, will be of little interest to most men.
