This is probably one of the coolest Goodwills in the area. Amazing, brand new, vintage stuff. Some stuff is great for white elephant gifts, plenty of registers to check out quickly. This is the worst goodwill I have ever been to. The customer service sucks, everytime I go in there. This last time my mother just went in, (just survived breast cancer) and got profiled for theft at the checkout counter by someone checking her out. Also, they still aren't allowing dressing rooms; even after Covid. Even though the Seattles one do . Make it make sense. Also on top they don't allow returns which would make sense to me if they allowed you to try things on. So because of that, there are thousands of clothes smooshed together that you can't even shop through, because they aren't selling as much. read more

The Maple Valley location has always proved to be a sure bet when hunting for treasures. Prices are higher than they used to be but still lower than other goodwill locations. Donation station no longer accepts furniture FYI. Bathrooms onsite are no longer available for use, nor is there changing rooms. Their return policy changed this week October 22nd, to a gift card instead of cash back so if that is important to you be aware. I consider this business to be a poor community partner for the following reasons: * They're happy to take our high quality donations at no cost and sell them with no cost of goods, paying only for the site and wages (making them a higher-than-average profitable business). * They have closed their changing rooms and don't let you try garments on. * Yet they won't refund purchases, only proving credit (presumably for the next wrong-size purchase). * They have closed their washrooms with, apparently, no intent of reopening as they have removed the signs from the door and replaced them with signs marked storage. In light of these factors, I consider Goodwill a selfish community partner, taking and giving nearly nothing back to the community in return. read more

Winter blues has no time to control my moods. What to do, you say? Get moving and start cleaning out the old and make room for the new. I filled two shopping bags and got them together to donate. Sure it took a few hours but you never know till you start moving things around. I guess I'm not the only one who has these same thoughts. There was a line of cars of people giving stuff away or should I say - dropping into the donation boxes. It's such a slow process. I didn't want to wait. I said to myself- I'll just come back another day. "Self" is not so discipline. I parked and went inside to shop. It was a give and take kinda day. Red tag, blue tag, I can't remember what the greeter said, but, it was some kind of mark-down day. There is nothing wrong with pre-loved stuff. Plus sometimes you get premium clothing with designer labels and original department store tags. New and unused clothing, books, handbags, etc... Just remember the sales or monies collected by GoodWill goes towards community programs, job training, placement services, and classes for people who have disabilities. Thanks to the generosity of the town, the Maple Valley Goodwill has some nice things. They price things too high for used, donated goods! The donation receipt includes a 30% off coupon, though. Pro tip: the size dividers aren't accurate. Look through all the sizes. Also, watch their flier (at the register) for 50% off days. They don't happen often, but they are the best deal. read more

I think this place has decided it doesn't want to be Macys anymore and is trying to go even more high end on it's pricing. I mean really, this is GOODWILL - you're items are all donated to your business! $9.99 for some Nike shorts with a huge stain on them and snags all over the back? But. If I look hard enough, I can a similar pair for $4.99 in another section most of the time with maybe only one or two small stains. Call me picky or whatever you please, but I'm not paying for literally dirty clothing for those prices. Prices are inconsistent. Very inconsistent. And SO EXPENSIVE. Half the things are labeled wrong. So many times I pick up a clothing item to read the tag that says "Housewares" on it. It's so unorganized too throughout the clothing section. Kids items in mens. Juniors in sleepwear. If you want to buy an item - or even inquire about an item - that does not have a price, they will not sell it to you until the next day, nor will they hold it for you. Also, ya'll gotta do a sale on your Seahawks stuff. There are like 20 racks of it, and it's always the same dirty/stained/snagged items. Nobody buys them because they are their own "special" tag color that NEVER goes on sale. The entire store is about to just be a Seahawks Pop Up Shop here pretty soon. Books are overpriced too. Go to other locations for much better prices on books that vary and go on sale weekly. Very dirty. If this place strives to continue to be open as Maple Valley grows, then it needs a massive remodel. Dirty floors, dirty fitting rooms - let's not even get into the bathrooms (omg the smells...). Staff is always unhelpful, and definitely not friendly. Lines are always very long. Don't ask to look at the jewelry or purses, it's a massive inconvenience to the staff. Even though it's a drive, go to the Seattle Outlet location and dig for your treasures and pay by the pound. You'll end up getting 15 items there vs. one item here for about the same price. read more

It may just be a regular sized GW but honestly I felt like this Goodwill was really big. I almost felt a bit overwhelmed that I was going to have to walk around the whole store. I actually got a shopping cart. I never ever get a shopping cart, because I usually just search certain areas and then leave, but I found myself moseying up and down practically every aisle, especially since I had never been there. There as a large selection is pretty much every area and there are good prices too. There furniture section is well stocked and there is a lot of general variety. I picked up quite a few VHS for $0.99 - $2. I got some pants too so I can kind of switch up what I wear to work and even some jeans that fit, which sometimes is a problem when you shop at the GW. Since I'm trying to get more into hiking, I found some good quality backpacking gear and pretty much everything was half off or if it wasn't, it was really cheap. My cashier was an older lady that was just as charming as the store and she actually smiled as she worked which I thought was really cute. I've been back to this GW more than once and it's still the same good experience. read more

Called to check if they are currently open and accepting donations. Was informed yes donations are accepted from 10 am to 5 pm. I arrived a few minutes later at 4:15 pm and there was a sign blocking the donation lane stating it is closed! I called again and asked if they are open for donations and was told it is closed and they will be open tomorrow from 10 am to 4:45 pm. Thanks for wasting my time! read more

I called the Goodwill in Maple Valley to confirm that their donation drop off area was open because they close a lot due to staff shortages. After I confirmed that there was somebody there, I showed up 15 minutes later, and the sign was up that they're short staffed and so the donation area is closed. I called back and got a hold of another employee who said that sometimes they have to close down early if they have too many drop offs otherwise they will have to close the following day. So I drive up to the back entrance I see that the neon sign says open and there is a worker standing doing nothing in the middle of the road. I then contacted them again and spoke calmly to the manager and she just reiterated the excuses. They never update their hours on the internet, so this has happened MULTIPLE times! I do not suggest ever utilizing this location, their service is horrible! read more

The problems I have with this location is the 3 item clothing limit in the dressing room. I've never been to a goodwill or value village besides this one that had such silly dressing room rules. That means if you have 30 items to try on, you have to bring in 3 at a time, then get fully dressed again to go out and get 3 more items. It takes an overwhelming about of time. Some of the workers will bang on your door if they suspect you have more than 3 items. Anyway, onto the good. I have found quite a few designer items here, and it is a pretty nice location. The prices are ok, but I usually try to go when goodwill is having their tag sale days. read more

I thrift all over and this is one of the worst stores I've been to. They seem to have the same items week after week after week. I stopped going because it was all the same items. Very over priced. Just because you make the women's section like like you're in France doesn't mean you can charge what you're attempting to charge for basic clothes. Yes, I agree, the prices at the Goodwill store in Maple Valley are tooooo high. I go to thrift stores for puzzles. The price for puzzles at this store are usually $4.99 and up. If you want a good deal on puzzles go to the Auburn Goodwill. There, the prices are much more reasonably priced at $1.99 and up. PS I believe the reason that Maple Valley's G/W prices are high is be- cause there are a lot of well to do families that live there. They have a nice selection, good sales, and the store is pretty clean. HOWEVER, you have to have a ton of time if you're going in there because nothing in the clothing section is arranged according to category or size, despite what the racks say. It's not just this store, its ALL Goodwill locations I've been to. It's like the clothes get sorted and just thrown in where there is room on the sales floor. You literally have to look through every aisle because sizes are mixed in with each other and sometimes items are not even categorized correctly. ie., tee shirts in the blouse aisle and such. read more

I went to the fitting room and nobody was there (after they called and called "Cindy" over the speaker many times). After I took my three allowed items into the fitting room, I hung a few more over the door because I didn't see any other place to put them. I would've asked but god only knows where Cindy was. Finally, Cindy shows up and yells at me for putting clothes over the door. She takes them and puts them on the rack to be returned to their departments. I actually really enjoy coming to this Goodwill, they always have nice stuff and for the most part are pretty clean. I shop here alot so I've become familiar with the staff. Before leaving a rude comment keep in mind that just like alot of buisnesses struggling right now being short staffed they are doing their best. I've encountered more shoppers/people donating being nasty to the employees than I have vise versa. I used to come in to happy service and now I see everyone burnt out. It costs nothing to be a decent human being people. A friendly reminder, how you'd feel being treated the same way you treat them. Try donating a bunch of items today, and to my surprise ( not really ) there is a sign in front of drop off that says they are temporary closed. So I called and asked when they would be open. I was informed by whoever answers the phone that they would be open in 20 minutes. So I told the person I would wait for that 20 minutes. Called back 30 minutes later just to inquire if they were still going to open and the lady tells me no not for a few hours.With that being said this is the same lady that told me 20 minutes so I explain to her that I just spoke to her and that's not what she had told me to start her response was to hang up the phone. I am disappointed in our Maple Valley Goodwill. I called to confirm that they are talking furniture. I was told "Yes, if they are in decent condition". So we came with a load full of decent furniture. When we got there, we were told they couldn't take most of the items, even though there was nothing wrong with the stuff. I had a lady parked behind me asking me why they would not take our furniture, that there was nothing wrong with them. I told her the same. We wasted time and energy to load them and bring them to Goodwill. Goodwill, you are not Macy's or Nordstroms. You are not getting new stuff, its used items with minor scratches and dents that people bring by. I am sure you have people dropping off damaged items all the time. That was not the case with us. Your hippie looking drop of attendant was not the most helpful either, but then its Goodwill. Can't expect to much I guess from them. read more

I would give this store ZERO stars if I could. My boyfriend and I walked in with our coffee drinks from a local coffee stand. And I've been into different Goodwill locations with drinks and have had NO issues. We were greeted by a lady who was absolutely rude to us. My boyfriend had his mask below his nose just a tiny bit, and she was snarky and told him to put it up, which he did with no questions. We started walking around the store when another rude employee walked up to us and told us we weren't allowed to have drinks in the store and we were to either ditch the drinks or leave the store. We ended up leaving because she was SO rude. I have worked retail and customer service and I have NEVER treated anyone like the way she treated us. A very grumpy older lady was ahead of me in the customer check out line, and was being very rude to the cashier, The cashier's name is Reanne, I believe. Reanne, was polite, and apoligizing to the customer who was finding lots of things wrong with nothing of consequence. The customer, who was Phillipino realizing that the cashier was Phillipino, starting saying apparently very crude things to Reanne in Phillipino language. Reanne responded in Phillipino, and though I don't know that language, she was still trying her best to diffuse the situtation. As an innocent by-stander in line, I made mention to Reanne that I thought she was providing exceptional customer service in spite of the circumstances. The customer left, and I offered to speak to the manager to let her manager know that she did a great job handling a very tough customer. Reanne began to cry. It was her first week on the job. I felt sorry for her, but knew she would be fine, because she was so kind, and sincere in spite of the rude customer. This occurred two days before Christmas. This Goodwill store, with employees like Reanne, is proof that there are good people out there, even amongst the crabby ones. Hang in there Reanne. Frankly, it is a lack of leadership and the people just walk around like zombies... I can tell they have no pride in what they do at all. I won't return here it's just too poorly operated. Jeans are marked large, medium and small instead of the standard sizes used for jeans so finding your size is time consuming because you have to remove the jeans from the hanger and search inside for the size. Items in the cooking accessories isle date back to the sixties and there are broken unusable items scattered everywhere. And finally the prices are about $2 to $3 dollars higher on each item than they should be. read more

The outside may look dingy, but it's what is in the inside that matters. You can find some good hidden treasures here. I was able to find some name brand clothing like, Old Navy, Lucky Brand Jeans, The Loft, and other decent items. The price is reasonable. You just have to dig a lot to find the good stuff. Also the clothes are in good condition too. Not too faded or run down. I like their accessory section of the store. Went on MLK and didn't realize it would be a zoo, all donated apparel was 50%. It was still nice, clean and organized. The employees were working hard to keep the lines short. I moved from Georgia and all items were ALOT cheaper! Shirts, sweaters, pants, jeans, purses, scarves, etc. ... ALL ONE DESIGNATED PRICE! Not whatever this Goodwill wants to charge, which is very expensive! I can go buy items that are new for about the same price! I thought Goodwill only sold donated items, because this store has new stuff, sodas, candy and snacks. When have they become so greedy that they started stocking new items and food?!? Compared to other Goodwills, this one has a decent selection. Compared to other thrift stores though such as SA or SVDP their prices are WAY high. $5 for a used, corded mouse? Seriously? And if you are looking for any decent electronics, jewelry, clothing, or collectibles - you won't find them in their stores anymore. They sell all of the good stuff on ebay or on their own auction site. Still a good place to go if you want some cheapo clothing and go when they are having a sale but unfortunately the days of finding a treasure at Goodwill are behind us. Update 7/2017 I used to stop by once in awhile to see if they had any good records. Alas, in the past month they have raised record prices from 99 cents to 3.99.
