The reviews for this place are 100% accurate, but I needed to see for myself. The pricing is so unrealistic, they hide the Goodwill name in an effort to not be associated with extortion. This is an absolute shame. Goodwill gets there items from donation, so sales are 100% profit. So rather than pilfer through donation and segment items that appears to have more value, how about you keep those items in stores and price them accordingly instead of starting your Metropolitan Market version of Goodwill. Just because there is money in this community, you don't have to take advantage. I donate heavily to Goodwill and this experience is making me rethink it. I also saw a shirt that I liked and despite the high price, I was on the fence, that was until I went to the dressing room and saw the sign that said you needed a key from an associate. If you didn't know this was a Good will boutique, I wouldn't be surprised. Shop is well merchandised. Selections are top of the line brands mostly for age 45+. Small area for children and good enough selection for men 30+ with a retro sense of style. Home decor is classic but not old looking. Pleasantly strong selection of quality art and vases. Racks are not crammed. No thrift store smell. All pieces are clearly inspected with high standards. No obvious wear on items. Average price $15. It is a boutique, remember. Still, the selection confirms real finds at these prices. Fitting rooms available. Friendly staff. Puppy friendly store/neighborhood. Pleasant music. All pleasant. :) read more

What a horrible waste of time. Don't even bother coming here if you are in search of a "thrift store" experience. First of all, trying to find it is a joke because nowhere on the outside of the building does it say "GOODWILL". However all of the searches on the internet call it that. Getting directions from my iPhone SIRI said, "You have arrived." I walked around for a considerable amount of time before walking into the American Cancer Society Thrift Store (next door). I asked the service assistant and she said, "It's next door... BLUE." ?? So, I walked next door and there was some fancy-shmancy circle and the word "BLUE" on it. I walked inside and found myself in an upscale store filled with brand new name-brand items. I was confused and walked around. It seemed filled with confused people wondering what in the hell they had wandered into as they all seemed as if they were looking for the thrift store... except one young lady who looked as if she was where she wished to be. I asked her politely, "Excuse me but .. is this a thrift store?" (feeling like a complete idiot in doing so). She smiled and replied with a smile, "Yes." THIS is apparently what "GOODWILL" is doing with the money they get from the overpriced used stuff they sell everywhere else. They buy a premium shopping location and fill it with brand new name brand items and sell them under the name "Goodwill" instead of using the money wisely to help people. If you find yourself in Tacoma, Washington make sure to stop by at Blue. Blue is the boutique version of goodwill where you will find new and gently used designer brands for a fraction of the price. The cost of most items starts at about to $10 and higher. I would easily rank it as the equivalent of a tj max or Marshall's. Thrift store shopping has always been a passion of mine since a very young age. It is great to be able to pop in and find an amazing deal. At this location, I purchased a yeezy season 1 white windbreaker for a steal. I plan on gifting it to my sister as she is a fan. Overall good quality and great customer service. If you want to check for nice clothes at consignment boutique prices, this would be a good stop. There's lots of clothing for men & women, some stuff for kids. A small amount of toys & a good selection of smalls & jewelry. However, If you're a fellow junker who likes the hunt and decent prices...you may wanna skip. My Blue grand opening experience in Tacoma yielded mixed feelings. The crowd was a blend of 50-something locals and hipster teens hoping to score an awesome deal on a great find. Blue was a refreshing twist on the typical frebreze-heavy Goodwill experience: this boutique was clean and pleasant-smelling. As you walk in everything is beautifully arranged with friendly and approachable staff happily suggesting items you couldn't live without. The atmosphere felt like a fundraiser though...where you justify spending more than common sense dictates because it's for a "good cause." I came there excited to buy something and my $10 was up for the challenge. What did I find? Women's shirts: $9.99 and up to $19.00+ for buttoned blouses. Sweaters: around $39.99. The selection of brands and quality were well chosen...there was no shortage of items like 7 for all Mankind jeans, Pendleton jackets, DKNY, 100% wool sweaters and jackets, even a Rachel Zoe faux fur coat. And for men, I found screaming deals like a Helly Hansen jacket for $20! Unfortunately women's apparel didn't seem as well priced. For example $49.99 for a cotton BCBG sweater from 4 or 5 years ago?? Not cool. You could shop Urban XChange, Orange, Vanity, Mandelin's...maybe even Meg's and Mo and get something cooler for less. If you're someone who likes shopping at Coldwater Creek, Pendleton, Talbots, etc, this would definitely be a place to get some good bargains. But if you're an experienced discount shopper aka...TJ Maxx, Nordstrom Rack, H&M, Forever 21.. and want something more current you'll beat Blue's prices searching your favorite clearance rack! All in all, I did stumble upon a cool find (a ring for $9.99) and was happy with the experience...I'll shop again and hope for a more current selection. read more

If I could give Blue zero stars then I would. Blue makes me angry. Not only is it seriously overpriced, its very existence has brought the value of all the Goodwill stores in the Tacoma area down. My favorite part of thrifting is finding a real find, now that there's a Blue they pick through everything good, send it to Blue where they price it at ridiculous prices. So annoying! Blue is an upscale Goodwill. I stopped in on a Saturday morning, shortly after visiting the Proctor Farmers Market. While I found a few things I liked, I wasn't quite willing to pay as much as they were asking. So, in concept, I love Blue. But would be happier if they still could be home to a sweet deal. I find the best office decor at this place! Far more reasonably-priced than a new merchandise store, but featuring items that are just as good, you can feel good knowing that you're getting a great bargain and supporting efforts to help people who need jobs. Plus, you're saving products from the landfill and encouraging recycling, but someone else already did the digging and sorting for you. The staff at Tacoma Blue is amazingly helpful and sweet, and I've never had to wait in a line for my purchases. I love Blue and will be back! read more

I was disappointed when I went in here, the prices seem quite high for being a goodwill store. I understand they are trying to select out nicer items and a higher price does seem fair, but these seemed too high for used goods. I like that they had it set up nice and in a boutique format. They didn't have much besides clothes and shoes, some more jewelry, accessories and home goods would make the store a bit more interesting and more likely for me to go back. read more

I keep reading all this stuff about Blue Boutique not having the value as the other stores. Wow, I love this store. I have became a fan big time. They have a ton of Chico brand clothing that I love. I can get a pair of jeans there that normally run $75 for about $14.99.. They are usually new. Other brands jeans that I can have see at the Macy's Ralph Lauren dept . for $98. I bought for $19.99. If you truly want to spend hrs looking through racks at the other Good Will stores to save a buck , well that is your choice. The stores especially Proctor are lovely and a pleasure to shop at. There isn't a bunch of junk to wade through and I will continue to go there. I have quit going to places like Value Village because their "junk" is way over priced. The stores are chaotic and smelly. I love the Goodwill Blue store on Proctor! Haven't checked out the others yet... I love thrift shopping for so many reasons, yet as busy as I am these days, I don't have hours upon hours to wander the aisles hunting for treasures as I did in the past. The coolest thing about Goodwill Blue is that they have done this for us! They sell only the most quality brands and often have great collectibles available for purchase. I recently scored when I found a pair of brand new deep red suede kitten heels with a dainty bow on the tow, a beautiful shawl, scarf, 2 vintage mirrored candle sconces (birthday gift for a friend - she loves them!!!) an almost new dress shirt and a black Kenneth Cole jacket for the fella. Goodwill Blue is my new favorite "Retail Therapy Destination of Choice" plus you can walk just across the street and enjoy a nice Starbucks coffee drink to enjoy!
