    Quaint agrarian style tasting room/building
    Tom B.

This is truly a hidden gem of a vineyard and wine tasting location. Located in an outskirts area of the city of Napa, it feels very rural and secluded and downright beautiful. We accompanied wine club members who had a reservation, and the entire experience was top-notch, better than most wine tasting places in the valley. It is cozy, intimate, and feels like Napa used to be 30 years ago. Not overly commercialized, and very serious about the quality of the wine. The main tasting building is agrarian in design and feels like a comfortable country home, well appointed, and quite comfortable. We started with a glass of white in the bar area and moved to a very lovely spot under an enormous tree, providing adequate shade. The wines were delightful, and each, from white to red, were unique and ever so flavorful on the palate. The reds were primarily full-bodied, yet not overpowering. The service and attention were extraordinary. It felt like visiting good friends with a fabulous vineyard. If you want a true authentic high-quality Napa wine experience, this is the place.

It used be to a lot harder to find Cab Francs in Napa and I came across Black Cat Vineyard while searching for small wineries with Cab Franc. It's been on my list for so long because they are mostly members only and when I got the chance to visit, it was a no brainer to join the club. Winemaker Tracey hosts all visits, private tasting on the property overlooking one of her vineyards is beautiful. My favorite was of course the Cab Franc, it is my go-to wine all day every day. But all of her wines are really good, including the Syrah, which I'm usually not a huge fan of. Black Cat is definitely a hidden gem that you don't want everyone to find but also want to tell everyone about. More at finevining.com IG @fine.vining Main varietals: Cab Franc, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon Tasting fee: Mostly members only, waived with purchases Cute for pictures: 4/5 QPR: 4/5, average price $55-95

I've been to a lot of wineries in my day, and Black Cat is hands down my favorite. It's one of those places that I'm hesitant to write a review about because I don't want the secret to get out.. but Tracey and the experience were just so wonderful that I can't not write about it. This is a members only winery in that you can only taste here if you are a member. There are only about 1,000 members and Tracy personally knows all of them. She definitely makes you feel like part of the family when you visit, even if it's your first time, like it was ours. The tastings are private and personalized. Because it was our first time, she started from the beginning, telling us the story of her journey and the history of the winery. On top of just an amazing experience, the wine is AMAZING. Definitely my favorite cab ever, but everything was great (we also tasted a syrah and the family cuvee). Both my friend and I left as members, feeling a bit honored just to be part of the club. It was hard to start our Napa journey here, because everywhere else just paled in comparison. Tip: She will send you the gate code to get on to the property when you make an appointment; make sure to write it down!

Had such a wonderful afternoon in Napa on Sunday! I've been to Napa several times but out of all of the vineyards I've visited, the time we spent at Black Cat Vineyard on Sunday was my all time favorite. Delicious wines & beautiful scenery! I haven't stopped talking about it since so figured I should share on here. I highly recommend this place if you get the invite.

We were pleased to meet a new member today, Alyssa, who will be replacing Ben as Tasting Manager. Ben is moving on to other things with AO. But dog friendly. Quality/Quantity - I had a hard time with the website making my appointment, it's a user issue as I am just not tech savvy. So I called and someone actually answered the phone and made my appointment for me, THANK you! We arrived 15 mins early, so we hung out in the lobby reading all the history, etc. Then Skip took us to the best view overlooking the vineyard for our tasting; see pictures! We sampled almost ALL the reds! All of which were good. See pictures. I like the fact that we did side by side tastings of many of his wines. My favorites were the 2022 Primitivo and 2021 Malbec, which we bought a few bottles of. Ambiance - Secluded private winery. Close to main Downtown Napa, but far enough away for privacy and a feeling of being far away. Appointment only, so very private and customer focused. Typically no more than 3 parties at a time. Today was considered a very busy day as there were 4 parties including us, lol. Gated private estate. 200 acres. Plenty of parking, especially since hosting only 3 guests at a time. Events - See their website. Well behaved dogs are allowed outdoors. Service - Skip is a history buff and we both talked for hours... After leaving, well really the next day (LOL), I realized that our tasting was supposed to be only 60 minutes. I guess because we got along so well, we stayed until closing! And he gave me a glass with a generous splash and let us walk the property alone after they left! So welcoming and trusting. Price - Depends on which tasting and what you buy; see their website for prices. Tastings range from $50 to $100 per person. One free designated driver allowed. Tasting fees waived with wine equivalent purchases. Hike tours $75 per person ($60 for club members). See their website for more information. Owner Comment - Congrats on your family's success since 1939 and congrats to this winery's success since 1992.

My husband and I were able to call ahead and schedule a very last-minute tasting, and from the very beginning, the hospitality was exceptional. I work in the wine industry on the retail side in Texas, while my husband does not, so creating an experience that feels both educational and approachable for both of us is not always easy. Steve absolutely nailed it. He welcomed us warmly, shared thoughtful stories about the wines and the winery, and made the experience feel incredibly personal. The tasting room itself is beautiful and feels like a hidden gem in Napa. We especially loved learning about the wines and the woman winemaker behind Levendi. The tasting was stunning from start to finish. What truly sets Levendi apart, though, is the level of hospitality. Since our visit, I have referred many of my favorite clients to Levendi, and Steve consistently goes above and beyond for them. He bends over backwards to make sure my customers are taken care of, and every single person I've sent has come back raving about their experience. At this point, a trip to Napa would not feel complete without a stop at Levendi. I honestly cannot imagine Napa without Levendi -- or Steve. After we finished eating, I frantically researched (read: checked Yelp) for a winery to visit. Housley seemed to fit the bill--good reviews, dog-friendly (we had her dog with us), and what seemed to be a reasonable tasting price. We get there and we realize it's owned by Tamera Mowry (who is now Mowry-Housley!) There's a picture of her and her husband (a former baseball player) in the window. We're sort-of starstruck. Shortly after, her husband (and the winery's owner) Adam walks up with their daughter and asks us how we're doing. We continue to be starstruck. Service was wonderful. Seating was comfy. The views weren't the best (we were drinking on the sidewalk and there's a parklet too.) The 5 wines for $29 was not bad, but the size of the pours was lacking. The first pour was the smallest and then slowly they seemed to give us more (maybe they heard me!) Honestly, the pricier wines tasted better. Frank was also extremely friendly and welcoming . Ray and Frank are knowledgeable and dedicated. It is definitely laid back and not high pressure. Just friendly and shoot the breeze vibes. Note that this winery sources it's grapes from elsewhere mostly in the Napa area and they focus on wine making. There isn't a large mansion, expansive grounds or caves to tour. This is a winery if you're interested in the wine label itself not a vineyard tour. We are impressed by the wines and enjoyed almost all of them. They are reasonably priced for wine purchase though I'm not used to paying $75-150 per person for tastings during the almost post pandemic Napa climate though I understand the price increase. . The wines range from $25-75 which is not considered over the top in Napa. We enjoy Saxum wines ( $100 to $500) very very occasionally and I would consider that high end , so Vinoce is definitely not on the high end in terms of price nor overpriced for their wines. Fun fact: Our host mentioned that their wines are seen on the TV show series "succession" ... We enjoyed our tasting and especially loved the Pinot and Cabernet. The Sauvignon blanc was a surprise purchase for us because we tend to prefer reds. The tasting room is near the scenic river which is quite nice. I recommend Vinoce! Visit and enjoy

Our horseback riding reservation was scheduled for 1:00 p.m. We arrived on time with a group of five, but our ride was delayed approximately 30 minutes while staff waited for another reservation--a party of one--that arrived late. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't have minded waiting. However, this was frustrating because during a previous visit, when our group was running late, we called ahead and were told there was absolutely no flexibility. Our ride was completely rescheduled because we were told the 1:00 p.m. ride was the last time slot of the day and they couldn't make other groups wait. It was disappointing to see that policy applied differently when it inconvenienced other guests instead. During the horseback ride itself, there was one staff member leading the group and another following behind. The guide in front shared the history of the winery, but despite riding near the front, I couldn't hear most of what she was saying. If guests are meant to enjoy the educational aspect of the tour, there needs to be a better way for everyone to hear. Additionally, it felt as though much of the staff's attention was focused on the solo rider in our group. They appeared to know her on a first-name basis, and whether they had a prior relationship or were simply trying to make sure she was comfortable, it left the rest of our group feeling overlooked. Unfortunately, the service issues continued during the wine tasting. Before we could begin, our wine consultant insisted that payment had not been made and stated he could not pour any wine until payment was collected. I had already paid in full and ultimately had to log into my bank account and show proof that the transaction had gone through before we could proceed. That was an awkward and unnecessary way to begin the tasting experience. The wines themselves were enjoyable but nothing particularly memorable. At the conclusion, our consultant simply ended the experience without offering a revisit of any of the wines we had tasted--a courtesy that many wineries provide and one we've come to expect during guided tastings. One final disappointment was the lack of any personal touches. I made this reservation months in advance for a birthday celebration and, after reading numerous positive reviews, was excited by the thoughtful details other guests described--such as personalized menus with guests' names at each place setting. Instead, we were given standard menus with no acknowledgment that we were celebrating a special occasion. While this may seem like a small detail, it's those thoughtful touches that often elevate a wine country experience and make guests feel valued. It was disappointing to see that level of hospitality missing, especially after booking so far in advance and reading such glowing reviews The property is beautiful, and the horses were wonderful and appeared well cared for, but the inconsistent customer service, lack of attention to guests, and overall rushed experience left us disappointed. Given the premium price of this experience, I expected much better hospitality and consistency. Unfortunately, I wouldn't choose to return or recommend it based on this visit.
