I always like to start off with the good. The oysters were a great size and the salad was charred perfectly. Now the bad. I want to start off by saying if someone comes into your establishment 1. Don't assume they are door dashing 2. Treat them like the client before or after them. Once seated it took over 5 mins and two walks past from the server before she even acknowledged me. She comes over ask for my drink order and at no point asks me did I want an appetizer. Also I tried being polite and make conversation by asking which of the bourbons cocktail would she recommend. She immediately gets an attitude and goes well they're all good. I'm like ok. The drink comes and I have to go can I order a couple appetizers. I order them and she never comes and ask me did I want to order an entree. The poutine fries were so soggy and fries weren't even fully cooked. The duck was highly chewy. After 22 mins with my appetizer she finally comes back. I ask why time do you close she goes kitchen closes at 8. It's currently 746, I then ok can I order my entree. I order the grilled Caesar and brink chicken. Not sure why they didn't bring out both at the same time because they immediately brought the salad out and took another 15 for the burnt chicken. The chicken was the most disrespectful thing ever. In what world would you think it's ok to serve that. Then go oh they like to get a crust. Ma'am that was burnt. Then not to even get offered anything instead. I just asked for my bill and left. I honestly felt because I was the only person of color they treated me like I wasn't important at all. The food was just ok. The reason I'm dropping a 2 star review is the food is not reflective of the price. I got the chicken under a brick. Chicken was just fine. It wasn't dry. The hasselback potato was super bland really didn't have any flavor. My daughter got the wagyu burger. For 28$ this was extremely underwhelming. Burger was dry and bland. My wife got the flat iron steak. That was the better meal of the three but again it was just ok. Our service was great. The waitress was very friendly and did a great job taking care of us. The service was by far the best part of this experience. The food for the overall cost doesn't make it worth for me. Wouldn't go a second time any time soon. read more

My boyfriend and I ate at this restaurant while visiting the area. The food was very good and everything came out fairly quickly even though it was a busy weekend. The poutine was a bit more watery than what we expected but it was still very good. The salmon on the salad was absolutely delicious and was almost melt in your mouth. Grabbed a quick bite to eat after hiking in the whites and stopping off at the REI next door. Wasn't sure what to expect but was very happily surprised with how clean and well decorated the restaurant was. Tom the host sat us and presented the days specials which were numerous. So I have been passing this place for many moons, always wondering about the menu. I almost always look them up beforehand, this time I hadn't seen the menu since the place was new. After sitting and ordering soda, I read the menu. I am not a fan of fancy pairings, I like meat and potatoes. I am simple, and this menu was anything but. We were greeted within seconds by Sabrina, she was polite and friendly. I settled on a sandwich and my fiancé followed suit. She took our app and food order and then we waited. She split our app, so that when it arrived it was already half and half. The presentation is always much better when the server does this. We were pleased. We got the Caesar wedge salad, and it was very good. The food arrived just after the app was finished. My mans got the chicken prosciutto, with strawberry jam. It was very very good. I got the 2369 black pastrami- also delicious. So again, upon seeing the menu I was skeptical- but glad to be wrong. We dined in their outdoor patio area- which was dog friendly, with bowls and a water jug and all- but the main dining my room seemed a bit dark for midday. This place started off great but slowly fizzled. Ease of making reservation online for 9 people was a plus. Host was super nice and friendly. Lighting was darker than normal but I think the level of lighting makes everyone look better. Our server, Sabrina (I saved our receipt to get her name), was attentive at first to make her up-sale, but once we decline on our 2nd bottled water, she disappeared. I asked for regular tap water when my husband got his second alcoholic beverage and she never came back with regular tap water for our table until we asked for the 3rd time after the meal. I think she took it personally because my glass of water was intentionally not filled until my husband pointed it out. It was 4th of July weekend and we had 3 kids with us, they were just hungry and thirsty. Our two older kids ordered off the regular menu but the youngest ordered off the kids menu. We had to ordered two kids meal for him because the server told us they couldn't substitute the fries for a smaller portion of Mac n cheese instead. Then when the food came out, the server had to "auction" the food. Meaning wasn't able to track who ordered what entree, use seat numbers! I've been in the restaurant business for a long time and that's my one thing to know if you're a good attentive server or if you're bleh. Food was okay. The shrimp tacos were good, scallops were a bit over done and the sauce/ spices on the scallops were too heavy. Menu says carmelized scallops but I think it was more like blackened. We ordered the haddock w/ crab was charged haddock w/ crab but received the haddock risotto special which was $2 cheaper but by this time we were over it. We go to Conway a few times a year, wanted to make this place one of our stops when we are in town, but unfortunately there are better service at other establishments. read more

My apologies for the delayed review. Forgot to hit submit. We were on vacation the week of Oct. 11-18 and on the day of our visit, was doing some shopping and stopped in for a late lunch. Seemed like a nice place with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Lots of TV's to watch the games around the bar area. We were asked if we wanted a table or a high top by the bar, and since we were just two people and there were others behind us, we took the high top to keep a 4 top open for the people behind. Seemed like a nice gesture. They have three areas of seating (dining, outdoors and bar area). For some reason every server, I counted at least 8, were working dining and outdoors. The bar and the 6 high tops had just one. We waited a good 15 minutes before anyone came to our table to even give us water. The manager walked by us multiple times. We then watched the two groups that came in behind us, get seated in the dining area and get drinks and place orders before we saw our server. Very frustrating. Food was fine and once we had our food, it was fine. They did share that after we placed our order there was a delay in the kitchen, but it was a bit frustrating. Would have loved to sat outside and enjoyed the view, which might have helped pass the time. Maybe next time. read more

Looking for dog friendly restaurants and found on yelp, after hiking near the rocky gorge. The restaurant has a cover outdoor area, dog friendly establishments, and service was super nice & friendly. They even have dog bowls with water for your dog. The food was delicious, loved the clam chowder, creamy and good size with lots of clam, the chicken wing appetizers was tasty and very good. This was our first time here. I made the reservation online, We received a text message to confirm. As we walked in, we were seated right away and introduced to our server, Colby. He was so friendly. After his personal recommendations, we ordered the pot stickers as an appetizers and then ordered the sirloin and the fillet. They came out both perfectly cooked, our sides were a delicious mushroom risotto along with a tender delicata squash. Our after dinner cocktails were equally delicious. We spent the last part of our evening deciding to have a nightcap at the bar. I think we actually closed the place. This is where we met Nicole, the manager, and 2 of the hard working chefs. Some of the best wings I have ever had. The dry rub they use is so delicious and the honey siracha sauce is amazing. They also have a great blue cheese dressing and fries. My wife and I went to Black Cap on a Friday evening around 6 PM for cocktails and dinner. The atmosphere was great. The decor is sort of a blend of a lodge and industrial. Very nice. I liked the way tables were spaced out. Plenty of tables and seating but guests aren't sitting on top of each other. We were quickly seated and our server offered cocktails. They were promptly served and prepared perfectly. We shared an appetizer and ordered our meals. The service was excellent and our meals arrived with perfect timing. Check out the menu. While there is some pub type food, it is prepared with flair. There are many more higher end meal choices available. We skipped dessert. Our daughter and son-in-law came to town the next day with our 2.5 year old grandson. We are very sensitive to our grandson bothering other diners, so we had made a 5:00PM reservation at another restaurant. After our first experience at the Black Cap, we decided to cancel the reservation and return to the Black Cap, where we once again had a wonderful experience. read more

We did have to drive around in the parking lot a few times to find parking due to the high volume of visitors. Most of us ordered burgers but I ordered the antelope with sweet potato fries. So we have been coming to Conway for years but only recently discovered the Black Cap thus year but have now been many times. Maybe it was the location, not sure why we had not tried it but we are so glad we did. Amazing food, superb service and attention to detail. We dropped in here last weekend for dessert and discovered their amazing martini menu. My husband fell in love with the chocolate mint martini, and we had the chocolate ganache cake for dessert. The Black Cap Grille is a great place for a quality meal! Our host greeted us immediately as we walked in, and we were seated after a brief wait. Our waitress was extremely friendly and polite; she checked in on us regularly throughout our dinner. We started off with cocktails, which were delicious and strong. We ordered the dry rub wings and goat cheese melt. The wings were amazing, super meaty and seasoned just right. The goat cheese melt was wrapped in bacon and had figs-- very tasty! I ordered the Wagyu Burger cooked medium and it was phenomenal! The sweet potato and regular fries were good, but the onion rings were the winner here! We've been to Black Cap quite a few times over the years and have always had a great meal but tonight was top tier. It was a cooler evening so we opted to sit outside to keep an eye on our pup, Bruno, in the truck. The host immediately asked us if we had a dog when we requested the patio and he let us know that Bruno was more than welcome to join us. My husband went to get him once we were settled and our server, Steve, immediately came over with a water bowl. Steve was so friendly and attentive during the entire meal to us AND to Bruno. Even the food runner chatted with us for a bit about her dogs. Our pup is younger and still learning and definitely not perfect but the patio is very private and relaxing so he quickly settled.
