Great service, generous portions and delicious food. We enjoyed the Chicken Avocado club with sweet potato fries. We shared and it was more than enough food for 2. read more

Tried this place for breakfast and it was very tasty. I had the hobo omelette and got the pancakes as one of the bread options. The omelette was good as muck as you can make with eggs and meats taste, so pretty standard. But I have to say it was the first time trying sweet cream pancakes. I have to say they were the best pancakes that I've ever had. The inside is rustic and touristy but my waitress was great. She helped me decide on what to get and she kept my glass full. read more

I enjoyed it! I got huckleberry lemonade, which was a bit sweet but tasty. I also got pot roast and decided to get fries because I'm traveling and sick of mashed potatoes. It was pretty good! Not your memaw's pot roast but definitely as good as my mother's My server was excellent and didn't steer me wrong on portion sizes! The tables were clean and the menus are newsprint, which was cute. Did not enjoy being reminded that 1995 was 30 years ago read more

Food was not up to par this day . We have always had good results in other towns but not at this one today . Service was also subpar waitress was good the the girls at the front when you walk in didn't give a crap when you walked in the door , and it wasn't like this place was busy . read more

Dry pancakes. Burnt potatoes. Racist customers. We were the only non-whites and everyone else was white. We decided the best thing to do was order to go. We were making our way to the cashier through a crowded entrance and a white last tells us that we were cutting in line! After we explained what we were doing she didn't apologize she just turned her head away. This is not a restaurant for anyone but whites. Please don't put your family through an ex like this. The food is not worth it. read more

We went in to have all you can eat fish dinner. They were out of hushpuppys and fry sauce. Then when I ordered more fish a 7:15 pm they were out. We called over the manager and she was very rude. This was our first time to eat at the black bear diner, and sadly will probably be our last. While the food was good, the service was not. Our waitress was uninterested and on the line of being downright rude. We saw her when she took our order and when she brought it to us. As she was walking by she left our check without saying a word. I know it wasn't us, because she treated the family next to us the same way. The restaurant was dirty with dust on the window sills and decor that looked like it has been there forever, and I'm not going to mention the floors. Very disappointed in this place. read more

Service was a little Slow but it was food was good. Would go back. Everyone was very nice

Service was great food is not what black bear use to be. Seems like the friendly faces of the owners on the placemat are not in charge. New CEO or something in place. Chicken and waffles??? Chicken is a frozen...thickly breaded... not fresh chicken tenders anymore. It may look okay in pic but it was NOT good. And my hubby is not fussy. This chicken was not an even quality frozen Very disappointing. My salmon salad which was a special was good. When we first went a black bear years ago... we thought it was privately owned !! Now each year we find a black bear on our travels and go to it... it becomes more and more apparent that it is a chain restaurant. Abundantly clear it is a chain. I was going to send email to HQ. But got the reminder to review here. So did read more

We've been to three Black Bear diners. The first was in Bullhead City, AZ, and it was great. The other two were near Ogden, UT, and Twin Falls, ID. Both of those were horrible. They must be franchises where the quality depends on the management. We won't be going back since we don't have any plans to go back to Bullhead City. read more

We were seated promptly, but nobody came by our table to take our orders or even offer beverages. First time eating at black bear diner and first time in Idaho! Place was great and serves large portion! We came in late and close to closing time but the staff still served us and were very friendly! Ambience is great as it gives you that ol American diner feel! It was snowing too when we visited but the place felt cozy and inviting. Highly recommended! read more

I'm done going to Black Bear. I went there on Easter Sunday and walked out with in 20 minutes. There was one person standing in front of me and they were cleaning a table for her party. A hostess came up to the stand, erased some of the seating chart and walked away. I wasn't acknowledged until they seated the lady and I was still standing there 5 minutes later. Once seated by one of the Hostesses, I sat for another 15 minutes while I watched all of the waitresses stand around, eat, and talk with each other. After hearing a waitress comment on how busy they were to completely dead now, made me upset. I handed my menu back to the hostess who was sitting at the breakfast bar with several other workers, told her I wouldn't need it since no one had set foot at my table for the 15 minutes I sat there. I went to Shari's. Walked though the door and was greeted immediately. I won't be going back to black bear again. I have to add a star to post this review but zero stars and they lost a customer for good. read more

Placed on online order to go. Arrived on time to pick up. The order was never submitted to the kitchen from the POS. The staff asked me to give them a few minutes. 20 mins after the pick up time with no updates or check-ins, I had my order of Shrimp and Cod and a Tri Tip Dip with a "sorry about that". Food was hot and yummy so there was that, but they forgot the cocktail sauce for the shrimp... read more

It pains me to write this, as we have eaten at many Black Bear Diners in our travels, always with a good experience. We had dinner here last night and will be skipping this one in future road trips. The waitstaff was attentive, and the food ok. But the carpet was absolutely filthy. There were straw wrappers, sweetener packets, cracker bits, and who knows what all else scattered about in the walkways and under the chairs. Three big stains where beverages had been spilled added to it. A little one dropped a glass full of Apple juice, and her mom asked for a towel so she could clean it up a little. She was told not to worry because the carpet cleaners were due that night. But was there not a sweeper to at least clean up the loose stuff? I'm no Martha Stuart when it comes to keeping house, but this was very off-putting. And if the seating area is allowed to look like this, what's the kitchen look like? read more

Server was phenomenal and the food was very much appreciated. Always nice to see BBD on a road trip.

Update I personally spoke with the manager, he was sincere and concerned about my experience. I believe that things will be better.--I have been looking forward to visiting and eating at the diner for a few years now. I finally got the chance on Sunday, September 7, 2025. I had breakfast there in Twin Falls, Idaho. The waitress was mediocre at best and my food was acceptable, but it was not hot. It was warm and my husband's omelette and potatoes were about the same. In fact his potatoes were crunchy/not cooked and he did not eat them. The waitress never came back to check on us after she gave us the food, I never even had a warm-up on my coffee. When we paid the bill, the young lady asked us how everything was and I just said well, it was OK. And she could tell by my attitude we were not pleased. All she had to say was I'm so sorry about that folks. it was as if she expected that type of answer. I was not looking for free food or anything like that, it was not the experience I had expected.I will never go back or visit another location as well. read more

Well, The food was ok but just ok. Honestly a big let down if you ask me, you look outside and see this massive drop dead gorgeous diner then you finally go inside and see the food, if you look at the building the the food it seems like a "Ad vs Reality!" video. I had high expectations that were quickly killed, the salad I ordered had tomatoes which I specifically asked for none, I am not allergic but if I was that result could've lead to my death but the only death that mistake lead to was my hopes of this diner. The service could've been better, I just feel like they try to make this look fancy and sophisticated but the food and service lacks it so it just leads to your hopes getting crushed. read more

Better than Denny's, just as reliable. More expensive than McDonalds, however less expensive than most places with this quality of food. This chain lives up to their advertising - Diner's with a lot of bears around. The food is really solid, cooked fresh and almost always good service. The layout isn't so packed in - of course, in the covid days, who is? I like the decor - you start to recognize a lot of the elements as you go to other locations, it still is not as boring or mundane as the typical diner fare. Their bbq sandwich? wow - one of the best. I was really surprised to find out how good they could do. Flavor, texture, portion size - it's great. The wife likes many things here, often going for one of the egg dishes.... to each their own... read more
