Duke's Grille is tucked inside a Holiday Inn, so it would be super easy to miss. I looked at some local review, and this innocuous hotel restaurant scored higher marks on Yelp than many of the local, higher end places like Elevation 486 and Redhawk Gastropub. After trying it for myself, I don't completely understand. The restaurant was slow when I walked in, so I could sit anywhere - I liked having the option, because I had been traveling all day and just wanted some quiet. I was craving steak and potatoes, so I ordered the ribeye. Was hoping for a baked potato, but French fries sounded more appealing than redskin potato mash. Ordered my ribeye medium. Let me preface; I overheard the bar manager mention she had struggled to hire wait staff lately and had just found two good ones. I completely agree with her; the server was attentive and so, so nice. Two thumbs up for the vegetable medley (on the menu as seasonal vegetables); delicious. That's the end of the good, though. My steak was overcooked and flavorless, and it didn't seem to come with either the blue cheese or au jus it was listed on the menu as having. Got some blue cheese crumbles to sprinkle over it after requesting them. The French fries were more or less comparable to McDonald's. 5 stars for service, ambiance is nil, and 2 stars for the food. Horrible food. School cafeteria style. It's kitchee that they bring your water in a glass bottle. Everything else we have ever eaten there seems like frozen food and not good tasting. We went 3 times and ordered different things, trying to find what good food people were talking about, but nothing was tasty. Sorry. A group of local women have been meeting monthly at Duke's for late afternoon drinks and appetizers for 4 years now and we couldn't be beaten out with a stick. The desk staff greets us warmly, the tables are set up with care, the wait staff is friendly and attentive, the food good...new items often...and the best part? Visited Dukes Thursday am about 9:30. This was are first time there, one of my friend recommended it. We were not aware that they closed at 10 am no one said anything. Might have gone elsewhere if we were aware of that. The service was awful had to ask three times for sugar for the coffee. Everything was slow, and uncomfortable. Server was having a bad day. The food was excellent, just a uncomfortable experience. We'll never go back. And not recommend Dukes to anyone. read more

Very enjoyable visit to this unexpected gem of a restaurant inside the Holiday Inn hotel. No real signage from outside the hotel, but guests at the hotel will be pleasantly surprised to dine at this great place. We stopped for breakfast. A few hours for breakfast, then they close for a while and then reopen in the afternoon. The place is very spacious, multiple seating options like booths, tables, bar seating. They keep it clean too. I have to mention the beautiful plants they have at this hotel and restaurant, they have a plant service that I wish I knew the name of. She was there when we were and was watering, dusting, cleaning up the plants and containers. I was really impressed! Service was friendly, and the food was fresh and reasonably priced. The picture of my scramble was after I dished out a big chunk. This was far better of a hotel breakfast than I have ever paid for. Hope you enjoy. read more

Happy hour lasts all evening long with great specials on many of their appetizers. On our first late afternoon visit we enjoyed the $4 nachos and some wings. Later we went back and had the hummus, and the Iscas de file (tenderloins) from the happy hour menu and hubby enjoyed the bacon cheeseburger. Made myself eat a whole one just so I got something in my stomach. Couldn't finish the rest. Firecracker shrimp had no spice at all.. actually you could still see the shrimp. There was barely any breading on them at all. My 4 year old is not picky when it comes to shrimp or fish. But a bite of each and he stuck with the fries. Wow - stayed at the holiday inn and looked at Yelp for local restaurants and noticed the best place in town was inside the hotel. The reviews were right on! Incredibly friendly and welcoming staff, great food and large portions - had the fish and chips with a side salad and all was great. The service was awesome but the food scares the hell out of me after my last experience, I wont eat there again and we frequent that hotel. I have absolutely zero trust of the quality of food after our last experience. When our toast was brought out the butter looked like nothing I have ever seen before. I asked if it was real butter and they said it was butter flavored oil, maybe soy they said. What kind of place butter flavored oil on toast? I can't image what other money saving BS they are using. Surprise! I have eaten in almost all Twin Falls' restaurants (I am a former food writer for a daily newspaper) Duke's was a revelation. You'd never know it was there unless you know it's there. Wha??? Tucked inside the Holiday Inn on Blue Lakes (behind Jaker's) ya gotta go into the hotel. You'll see it and don't miss it. Went several times and here it is: 1) One of the best salmon dishes I've tasted. Generous cut, cooked perfectly, with garlic and lemon cream sauce. The sauce does not overwhelm the salmon. Choice of three sides; I ordered the mashed potatoes one time an then the pesto potatoes (firm and creamy red potatoes) the next. You can order rice too, and it's not bad. 2) Salads are fresh and generous. Good Caesar, house salad, and grilled chicken salad, salmon salad. 3) I'm crazy about fish tacos and these were so-so. The fish is chopped into tiny pieces when they should be large fillets lightly deep fried as to not get mushy. 4) Burgers are adequate; tasty and cooked to order. Lots of other things on the menu. Bar service (only beer and wine) with some good locally brewed suds. They are famous for their creme brulee, get it! Hours are weird, but I understand why. Breakfast in the morning until 10am, then closed until 4pm for dinner. The server calls you "sweetie" and "honey" but it doesn't see condescending, cause I am a sweetie and a honey. So there's that. We were on the final days of a 19 day trip out West and experienced many fine restaurants but Duke's was one of the best if not the best. We ate there on 9-18 and 9-19. A robust happy hour menu gave us lots of choices that were so affordable yet ample and the main menu delivered big servings at fantastic prices! Easy parking. Nice decor and ambience. This place is spectactular! Inside of the newly remodeled Holiday Inn, it is a hidden gem. We had breakfast and dinner here during our stay and the food is very good. A quiet dining experience, the staff is very attentive, and the food is well thought out. They also have a bar where you can have some drinks, and they are the hub for the hotels room service! Could not rave enough about this place. Delicious!! I got the Tuscan Penne and would recommend it highly to anyone who likes pesto. For an obscure restaurant inside a Holiday Inn, the food was surprisingly good. I'm not going to lie and say it was great, but was fresh, well cooked, and appropriately seasoned. The menu was diverse enough to have options for many, yet small enough to appreciate you won't be getting dated product. Comparable restaurants would be Applebee's, Perkin's, etc. with an American food focus and more attention to detail. It's not going to blow you away, but it will be pleasantly surprising with those expectations in mind. We will be back and try other menu items.
