We were not expecting the food to be as good as it was because we chose this location because of its proximity to our home, the price was very reasonable and the reviews were a 3.8. Had the reviews been a 3.4 and lower we would've probably kept looking. I ordered a waffle combo and I had 2 sausage patties and 3 over medium eggs and they were able to accommodate me with sugar free syrup that was really good. My wife had the twice over (I may have the name wrong) but it was ham, 2 sausage patties, 2 over medium eggs, and toast with sliced tomatoes. Our food was amazingly delicious given the low price, the smallness of the restaurant, and the lack of a more welcoming vibe, not the service but the atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, it was chill but in a weird kind of half warming way if that makes sense. In a nutshell, I would still recommend this place and will go back. Enjoy!

Saturday breakfast with the fam brought us to the heart of Friendswood. Some of my family lives…read moreclose by so they suggested this spot which was new to me. It is located in a strip of businesses and parking plentiful even with a peak breakfast crowd. This location is one of three located south of Houston. The restaurant itself isn't very big so tables are pretty close together. They also have bar seating if you're eating solo, but no alcohol as far as I could tell. Customer service was ok. Our guy was friendly but there were things left off the order and we had to repeat requests a few times. I started off with coffee. I like that they creamer choices at the table that was also stocked really well. The menu is pretty extensive and there is something to please everyone here. They have a whole page showing they can make your eggs in every which way. They truly did cover all the bases as far as having every variety of breakfast you can think of. This place stays open until 2 so they also have a page of lunch options as well. My family got a variety of different things and not one complaint was heard. I went for something a little different called the Eagle's Nest. It's basically a scramble. It had diced ham, bacon, sausage, peppers, onions and tomatoes scrambled with eggs, hash browns and topped with cheese and white gravy. I specifically asked for sausage gravy as an upgrade but didn't get it. I wasn't about to waste food so I kept it. I think sausage gravy would have made this dish elite. The regular white gravy had to be doctored up with a little more salt and a lot more black pepper. I love a mish mash of food all in one bite so this dish was good once I added my little flair. It came with a side of your choice of bread and I went with sourdough. It was weird that they serve the bread dry and toasted and do not even offer butter unless asked. Overall, we enjoyed our meal here. The minor misses pale in comparison to the good. I would most definitely come back if in the area as this immediate stretch of 518 doesn't have alot of unique options like Pelican.

It is the stalwart staple of the American Republic. I have them add Jalapeños because I am a glutton for punishment. But, I can't count how many times I have ordered this burger and it is juicy, flavorful, hot, calling my name. Just a little too messy to eat free-handed without a tray beneath you. Summertime! Huge staff of waiters, indoor and outdoor seating. Giant covered patio facing the Kemah Port, a field of docked Sailboats. And Kemah's theme park with roller coasters and rides right on the water. So fun, for those of us living farther inland. I feel like I am in a skit from High School Musical 2, summer, summer, summer! Serenity, Madison, Sarah, and Kylie. All very helpful upfront and happy. A slew of guys running around with trays in their hands and accouterments for sweeping and wiping down surfaces. I add Onion Rings because these beasts will remind you why the Onion is King! I also add Fried Pickles and Ranch, because I'm American. And finally order a Squealer Burger for my wife, because I love her. As always: the Loo Review (for my friends in the UK) Wandering back through the tight walls of, what looks like make-shift wooden walls and ceiling, like a shanty built on the waterfront, you find the bathrooms tucked, as usual, way in the back, until the actual bathroom hallway, which is very "up-to-code" clean finished mint painted sheetrock and mahogany wainscoting, just so everybody can rest assured we have your bathroom trip under control. Nothing spectacular, but bright yellow stall divider walls, and large commercial tile slabs, easy to clean with a mop, sinks, uh normal and...yep, nothing to see here... I have literally been online with friends of mine from the UK who were like, "you're at Tookie's!? I have heard of that place, I'm so jealous..." and they should be. One of the wildest parts is that, up until recently, you could still smoke in the restaurant. I'm about 97% sure you can't anymore. The menu is full of American classics: meatloaf, hamburgers, sandwiches, and the typical breakfast staples. My buddy Jorge and I always get the breakfast special--pancakes, eggs (over medium for me, over well for him), typically with bacon and either sugar-free or regular maple syrup. It's a pretty solid deal at around $12, and it comes with a cup of coffee. The coffee is like rocket fuel. Like I said, it's a classic greasy spoon. It's definitely worth a stop if you're looking for a no-frills breakfast. While it's not my go-to for lunch in the area, you'll definitely find something to satisfy your appetite. Service is always friendly and for the most part quick. I haven't been in high traffic times in a while. At 5-7 am on Friday it's pretty slow.

I've been wanting to try Main St. Bistro, so when my sister suggested it for Easter, I was down. We had a party of 7 (5 adults, 2 kids). We got there around 1:00 on Easter Sunday & didn't have to wait long even though it was busy. A man took our drink order. My brother-in-law asked to go ahead & order two appetizers. Our waitress, Natalie, came shortly after, introduced herself & confirmed the appetizers. We were brought 4 small cubes of banana bread, which felt weird since there were 7 of us. My toddler & my niece both had a whole one. The other two were split between 4 adults. My brother-in-law didn't have any. The appetizers came out fairly quickly & were gone just as fast. We finally ordered right at 2:00 after a little wait & indecisiveness. Then my son was done sitting in a highchair. My husband and brother-in-law took the kids outside. They played for a bit & walked two laps around the whole strip center. They came back, still no food. My son had a complete meltdown since he was both hungry & now tired, my brother-in-law asked if there was any way they could just rush my son's food. They did and he started eating, everyone was so hungry that they had some bites of his food as well. My mom went to ask the manager if our food was close to being ready. The answer was no, there was a whole list of orders ahead of ours. The manager was kind enough to bring us some spinach dip & apologized for the wait, explaining she was dreading today because the kitchen wasn't equipped for the Easter crowd. She assured us that they were working as fast as possible & we appreciated her honesty & effort. My mom went to her car & asked us to let her know when her food came. Our food finally started arriving at 3:17, and not all at once. My sister's meal came last. By this time my son was done & was getting restless while we had JUST started eating. The food itself was disappointing. My sister and I both ordered Benedicts. Mine (Boudin Benny) wasn't hot and was mushy instead of seared. Both of our poached eggs were undercooked. My sister's also had a large amount of cream cheese that wasn't listed and didn't taste good. Other issues: my mom's fries were cold, my brother-in-law said his chicken fried steak was no good. He ate it because he was hungry, and while my husband liked his sandwich & was happy with it, his fries were cold. My niece enjoyed her burger. My son's shrimp, fries, & macaroni were all hot and good... likely because they were rushed for him. It was 3:45 by the time we left. They close at 3. We received a 40% discount, but there was also a 20% automatic gratuity added, which some in our party didn't expect. Here's where they earn stars back... Natalie was great! She took great care of us & kept apologizing for the delay. We could tell that she felt bad, but it was not her fault. The manager also came by checking on us multiple times & got us settled as best she could. She brought us spinach dip while we waited & she made sure that my toddler got food very quickly after being asked about it. She did thank us multiple times for our kindness & patience. As did Natalie. I too, was appreciative of the kindness they showed us. Most of us have all worked in food service before & we understand that the wait staff can only do so much. We also understand being slammed in the kitchen & how fast paced they have to work in order to handle rushes. I appreciate the 40% discount... 20% after the tip. This review was based on one trip & I will update my review if/when I return. But this visit was definitely not a great experience & if it weren't for the kindness, I'd be leaving one star.
