We started the trip with what I can say was a can't be beat resort stay here. We each had our own king rooms that honestly almost made me hate my own home. From the start of the stay pulling up to the security gate and getting greeted with so much energy and friendliness then being handed a rosemary bag to bring you into the mood. Immediately I knew I would love this place. The valets were great. The lobby staff were great. I was at the resort for two days and I swear I never touched a door to open. My room was ready early which was a bonus and the room. Again just great. Spacious. Ultra clean. All the amenities you could want. Fridge bar area. Fireplace. Sliding double doors to a private patio overlooking a fantastic golf course. Giant bathroom with separate soaking tub that was divine. I could review the golf all by itself. Super nice caddy Jack who it was a pleasure to spend the day working alongside and perfect weather because it can certainly get hot out there. We had a catered private lunch and then we had dinner in the bar area and everything was, you guess it, perfect. I will be back it's just a matter of when.

I visited Corda Valley during the Wineries of Santa Clara Valley Fall Passport event. The winery itself is large and beautiful, with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. It was pretty crowded when I arrived around 2:00 p.m. on a Saturday, with plenty of people celebrating and enjoying the nice weather. The Passport tasting was set up separately inside and offered one white and several reds. I don't drink reds, so I only sampled the white, which was good. They also had a great $50 case special on selected wines. Unfortunately, the tasting itself felt rushed and somewhat impersonal. There was little explanation about what was being poured or about the wines themselves, and the interaction felt a bit abrupt. With so many smaller wineries in the Santa Clara Valley offering very personal, hands-on tasting experiences, I'd probably choose one of those for my next visit.

Starting with the chilaquiles, they were amazing! I ordered the spiciest option, and WOW, they were insanely spicy! They definitely don't play around with the heat, so beware if you're sensitive to spice. That said, I loved them! The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the Mexican cheese and avocado brought everything together. Definitely a must-try! The Kitchen Sink was great as well, with amazing hash browns and generous portions. Definitely a solid choice if you're looking for a hearty breakfast. Unfortunately, the steak omelet was the one letdown. The steak was severely overcooked, which was disappointing, and the omelet was pretty oily. As for the service, the place was packed, but everything came out surprisingly fast! Overall, a great breakfast spot with delicious food, generous portions, and fast service. Just be prepared for some serious heat if you order the spiciest chilaquiles! Would definitely come back for the chilaquiles!

He had an omelette and potatoes that he said were excellent. Their biscuits and gravy are my husband's favorite. I'm low carbs high protein so I go for 2 poached eggs with sausage and fruit. I had called a few days ago regarding reserving a table for a group of 12, and they had let me know that they'll put my name down but we'll all have to arrive on time in order to be seated as it wasn't considered a reservation, to which I said that was okay. Unfortunately, unforeseen circumstances had arose in my family and we could no longer attend, so I called the restaurant to let them know as this place can get busy, and we want to make sure others can be seated. However, when I told them that we had a reservation (as I'm not too sure what else to call it), the person who picked up the phone gave me attitude and said "we don't do reservations here". She didn't give me the opportunity to speak because she kept cutting me off. I tried to explain to her that not having a reservation is totally okay because we were looking to remove my name off the list, but she was being really insensitive to our situation and said "well, now you have to come in right now you can't cancel your reservation anymore". That was not right for her to do, considering what had happened in our family is very serious. This was not right and makes us feel like she was making a joke of our families situation. Although the food is good, because of this horrible experience, we will never be coming back. We've been here a few times already when the service wasn't that good (where one lady in particular would give us attitude), but we gave this place the benefit of the doubt because we understand if people are going through rough patches. We even had a bad experience last week where they forgot our food and we waited over half an hour while everybody else got their food around us, because we really enjoyed coming here. However, this phone call was the last straw and it made us realize that we won't be coming back.

For those who may not be familiar, mazapán is a Mexican candy made from ground peanuts and sugar. Kind of like the inside of a Butterfinger but not crunchy. And not like marzipan, which is not something I enjoy. I do love mazapán though so I was all in and the latte was excellent. My SO had the horchata milkshake and it was also delicious. They also offer other flavored latte's (matcha, lavender, hazlenut etc), tea, coffee, soda, etc. We both had chilaquiles verde (also a favorite)... his with grilled chicken and mine with carnitas. Super tasty and just spicy enough. And my SO's daughter is vegetarian so they made her a chipotle sandwich without the chicken but with extra cheese which she liked very much as well. A cute little place with outdoor and indoor seating and very friendly staff. Portions are big. Parking is a little challenging because the lot is small but not terrible. We were able to park next door. It was a great breakfast and we would come back for sure next time we're in the area.

Everything sounded delicious, but I opted for the Pop"s Pub burger. I figured that would be a good starting point to get a feel of how good the food is. The burger was good, but not $21.00 good. The fries were tasty ,and I really enjoyed the side salad that came with it. The burger itself came with lettuce , tomato and a house sauce (thousand island blend). The burger was cooked perfectly , and tasted pretty good. However, when you add a $10.00 IPA to the equation and throw in a tip- I was out $41.00. I didn't like my meal enough to spend that kind of money. For a burger to be this pricey, I needed more. This place seems like a cool place to chill ,watch a game, and enjoy a cold beer. I may just do that next time and skip the meal. The service was poor. Once my food was dropped off , I never heard from the lady again to check on me until she dropped off the check.

I will say that while everyone enjoyed their meals well enough, I heard from more than one person in our party that, for whatever reason, they preferred Black Bear Diner's breakfast. We were seated at the table directly in front of it and I kept having to remind my kids to stay seated and that we were there to eat, NOT for junky knock off toys.

The garlic burgers and chicken sandwiches are also good, though intense for those sensitive to garlic. Fortunately, the burgers can be customized by removing the garlic as desired. The garlic soup is balanced, not too floury or thick. The garlic flavor is mild enough for those sensitive to it, but still present enough that garlic lovers won't turn down a plain starchy soup. The garlic bread is nicely balanced as well, with just the right amount of garlic and a touch of parsley for freshness, very California. The menu is mostly classic American diner fare. The cantaloupe-mango smoothies add variety, while the fried artichokes are very Castroville. It's a fitting regional menu, reflecting Gilroy's garlic heritage, nearby Castroville's artichoke reputation, and the area's agricultural roots. Many of the dishes include fresh cut melon, making the meals a bit lighter than most cafés. The atmosphere has a neighborhood feel and plenty of regulars.
