    Bottom of biscuit

Decent vanilla latte but it's a latte. Ordered a $9 biscuit and I feel like I don't need to say much and let the pictures do it justice. I'm kind shocked that they would sell and serve something so pathetic. Biscuit was burnt on both sides. When you peeled off the burnt layer the inner layer just crumbled bc it was so dry and hard. No flavor. We told the lady and she gave us another biscuit that was just as bad. I should have asked for a refund but I will certainly not be coming back. Also, the automatic tipping is so distasteful plus there is a service fee in addition to the automatic tip. My favorite part thought is when they ask for a tip after they've already given themselves a tip (insert sarcasm). I asked them to remove the tip and could decide for myself if they deserved one. I know this place is popular but that's because once upon a time the biscuit was so soft, flavorful, and melted in your mouth. The service was good, counter ladies were friendly and they actually had pastries and options to choose from. That's simply not the case anymore and I thought I should share how much this place has gone downhill so others don't waste their money.

First time at this new location on grand Boulevard, it's in the Hyatt hotel... Fabulous in a word! Perfect coffee, and I am not a Starbucks fan by the way... But they have the Stumptown Coffee and it is beyond great. Food is a plus, we ordered the frittata of the day, and also the biscuits and sausage gravy. They only use fresh farm to table, the bread is ridiculous get it to go... This is My favorite place for breakfast in the panhandle.

Best avocado toast I have had- the pickled jalapeño and zataar were an amazing addition. Must have with a perfectly poached egg. And the steel cut oat meal came loaded with great fruit on top. The latte was hot and very good (strong but not bitter) as was the unsweet peach black tea. Don't let the location fool ya. Spot on goodness.

Black Bear Bread is a legit bakery. Priced on the higher side, all of their baked goods are amazing. I have had their blueberry scones, some of the best scones ever. The biscuits are to die for, especially as a breakfast sandwich. Service is friendly and efficient. The store itself is in a hotel not far from a retail center so it's a great opportunity to get your breakfast before engaging in some great shopping!

Black Bear is the best place to visit for breakfast near Sandestin, and maybe even the best along 30A! This location is a bit smaller than the Black Bear in Santa Rosa, tucked on the side of the Hyatt hotel just down from the main tourist shopping area in Miramar Beach. There is ample free parking (golf carts allowed!), even on a busy day. On weekends in the summer, expect lines for brunch! It moves fast, but because the inside ordering area is small, the line will stretch outside of the restaurant. There is limited indoor seating, as well as tables on the patio. These are first come first serve. Not great for big parties (more than 6 people), but doable. Everything on the food menu is great -- I'm a big fan of the smoked salmon tartine, grain bowl, egg & sausage croissant, and daily frittata. There are also seasonal items like latkes which are usually fantastic. The items are priced fairly, incredibly fresh and colorful, and served in pretty large portions! If you want pastries like fresh baked cinnamon rolls, croissants, and pop tarts, you should aim to arrive before peak crowds (i.e before 10:00am). These often go fast because they're so tasty! For drinks, they have mimosa pitchers (!!!) and coffee supplies by Stumptown Roasters. I personally love their iced matcha latte, as well as ordering an iced latte with a pump of lavender. The seasonal specials are almost always delicious. Finally, service is always friendly and helpful. Even when busy, the staff are patient with your order and willing to offer suggestions. While this is a counter-service spot, they'll bring your order to your table and clear the plates which is great. There's also a much-appreciated local discount :)

This is right next to the Hyatt, little hidden away off the main drag. But it is worth it. Fantastic, fresh baked bread, wonderful coffee, and very knowledgeable staff.

There was no where to sit, line was outside, & their selection was very limited. They had no bear claws like advertised. Not worth the wait.

The weather was a beautiful 70 degrees, and we were lucky enough to get a table with a great view of the beach and sunshine. We ordered the fish tacos and the grouper bites. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was piping hot. The fish tacos had a generous piece of fish on each taco, grilled perfectly. My friend ordered the grouper bites and OMG -- they were lightly battered, cooked just right, and you get so many! Definitely a must-have. Now for the service. Our waitress started off strong by promptly taking our order, but unfortunately it went downhill from there. Once we received our food, she never stopped back to check on us or offer drink refills. There was only one bartender and the place was packed. He appeared overwhelmed, especially with beachgoers walking up to the bar while also trying to keep up with drink orders from the waitstaff. It didn't seem like the servers had assigned sections, as tables appeared to be seated in rotation. Toward the end of our meal, we noticed not only ourselves but other diners trying to get their waitress's attention, which was difficult. Overall, I'd give the food 5 stars and the service 2 stars. I understand it's a beach atmosphere, but with spring break starting, the service really needs to step up its game.

Coming to this location for the first time proved that streak still continues. The LUMP BLUE CRAB BISQUE - Sherry, Cream, Crushed Herb Croutons to start was fabulous. The MACADAMIA-NUT-CRUSTED SNAPPER - Hawaiian Red Sea Salt, Almond Rice, Grilled Asparagus, Wasabi Soy Beurre Blanc was just as good. Yes, something I usually pass on entirely, dessert, the key lime pie was great too. The only disappointment was the piña colada I ordered. The "bar" is set high on this one by the Marlin Bar in Orlando so I'll give them a pass. Service was very attentive and the place itself is brand new. I wish the developer would have made more parking closer to the buildings. In the off season it was nuts, coming here during peak season is going to be a challenge. One aspect they truly excel at is the live entertainment. The music is just right--loud enough for the audience to sing "Sweet Caroline," yet soft enough to allow for casual conversations at the table.

We are typically there at least three out of the seven days we stay in town. Unfortunately, after our experience on Mother's Day, we do not plan on returning. We arrived around 4:30 p.m. with a party of nine, hoping to enjoy some of the happy hour menu and pricing. We were kept waiting in the front until exactly 5:00 p.m., even though it was obvious that tables on the back deck were already available. Once seated, our server was polite and did a good job taking care of us. During conversation, we mentioned the long wait, and he explained that it is apparently "protocol" to delay seating larger parties until after 5:00 so they do not receive happy hour pricing. If that is truly company policy, I find it extremely disappointing and dishonest. We felt manipulated instead of welcomed. The food quality was also far below what we have experienced in past years. The crusted snapper that was recommended to us was terrible and had to be sent back. My grandson's burger was also very poor quality and honestly unpleasant. The only dishes our table generally agreed were decent were the squash casserole bowl and the chicken parmesan. Another disappointment was learning that bread is no longer served. For families with children, that was always something simple that helped while waiting on meals. Between the removal of those small touches, the higher prices, and the noticeable decline in food quality, the restaurant no longer feels worth returning to. I'm not writing this to get anyone in trouble. I'm writing because this restaurant used to be one of the highlights of our vacation every year, and it is frustrating to see the experience decline this much. Chris Tomlinson
