Hoboken's main street is lined with bars... so it can be difficult for one to stand out from the rest. Black Bear is an ideal spot to grab a bite, drink some beers, and watch sporting events with a group. It's your typical sports bar ambiance. Dark and dim lighting with reclaimed barn wood, antique furniture, and vintage signs. They have two floors with a bar and dining area on each one. The walls are lined with large HD tv screens with any and every sports channel you can think of. They provide a fun lineup of entertainment (weekly bingo & themed trivia, a live DJ on Friday & Saturday, weekend brunch). It gets extremely crowded, packed, and loud on game weekends. Menu has your average bar grub - burgers, sandwiches, wraps, salads, wings, nachos, tacos, quesadillas... all at decent prices. They have a lot of options for beer and cocktails. I don't think they're outrageously expensive, but they're a little high for what you're getting. On the plus side, they have daily specials with good deals/discounts. AYCE wings for $15 on Tuesday, Tequila Thursday, Sangria Sunday, etc. I needed a quick bite so I ordered the Crispy Chicken Sandwich with fries ($16) - included crispy chicken cutlet and sweet chili sauce on a brioche roll. The roll was fluffy and buttery with a golden crust. The chicken was indeed crispy. I was pleasantly surprised by how big the cutlet was... it looked like they cut up multiple cutlets and stacked them on top of each other. I could've done without the sweet chili sauce - a little overpowering. The french fries were nice and crispy, just how I like them. Overall, not a bad bar in Hoboken to check out. I'd visit again to try the daily specials or play trivia!

If you're looking for a true sports bar experience, this place delivers. The atmosphere is lively without being overwhelming, and there are plenty of large, high-definition TVs positioned so you never miss a play. No matter where you sit, you'll have a good view of the game. The menu hits all the right notes for game-day food--classic wings, sliders, nachos, and burgers that actually taste fresh and well-prepared. I tried the buffalo wings, and they had a perfect balance of heat and flavor, paired with a crisp texture that wasn't greasy. The loaded nachos were also a standout--generous toppings and enough for sharing. Drinks are reasonably priced, with a solid selection of beers on tap, including a mix of local craft brews and popular favorites. Cocktails are decent too, especially for a sports bar. Happy hour deals make it even better if you time it right. Service was friendly and attentive despite the busy crowd. Our server checked in regularly without hovering, and food came out hot and fast. The vibe is energetic but still comfortable for casual hangouts, date nights, or big games with friends. It can get loud during peak hours, so if you're looking for quiet dining, this isn't it--but that's part of the fun of a good sports bar. Overall, this spot is a solid choice if you want good food, great screens, and an atmosphere that makes watching the game an event.

I will give it to them the servers, staff, and anyone who worked there did a fantastic job serving and working!. This place was pretty busy with college kids. The wings were absolutely amazing! Multiple flavors crispy, but also meaty wings. The blue cheese was very runny and watery and I did not like that. I got a chicken Caesar wrap which tasted just what it sounded like. If you get wings, I suggest the Sriracha fire, firecracker, barbecue or hot wings. I did come here on a Sunday football weekend so I do understand it was busy. Even though I'm not in college anymore, I still will check this place out. Well done staff!

I came with a small group on a Friday night, and we were able to get seated immediately upstairs. The rigatoni and sausage was pretty good, and the Mac n cheese was fine too - but nothing special on either accounts. However, I was very disappointed with the double wings. There were only 12 wings for the $30, which is entirely too much for average wings.

Service was good, ample seating, our server even managed to get us a seating at the back of the bar , which is a little more quiet. They do have food options, we wanted hot wings, but they were definitely not hot and nothing to rave about. The 4 stars are for the specials. Every day this bar has specials on drinks!?! If you're on a budget, this spot got you!

A perfect bar for whatever you want. Comfortable for kids, lots of tvs everywhere for sports, high tops, regular tables, booths, options galore. Best part is I've never had a bad meal here. Classic bar food but good, buffalo chicken wrap is one of my fans but don't sleep on their burgers for sure!

Located in busy Hoboken, parking can be tough, but public transportation is good. The atmosphere is dim lit and there are numerous televisions, all with some sort of sports on.. Music is at a good level. Service was prompt and both the bartender and waiter were friendly. I ordered a steak wrap with onions, and swapped out the cheddar for Swiss and requested non Chipotle bbq sauce. The sauce was fairly bland. The rest of the wrap was very good. Fries were fairly standard with no seasoning. I left a little hungry. A friend got the double wings and was disappointed that it was 12 wings for $30, plus tax and tip. He left hungry. The bar had a good selection of drinks and taps. Bathrooms were fairly clean, but no paper towels. Expect to pay around 20-30 for just food (2024). I would not return to this establishment. Also note, check your tab, tip was included at 20%.

Great! Service was amazing but the food wasn't anything outstanding. Will probably return though for the atmosphere especially for games!

From the moment that you walked inside, it's clear that it is a knicks bar. There are cutouts of the players and team themed decor inside. Some visible on the outside as well. The place itself is pretty spacious with three floors. All are first come, first serve. The atmosphere felt very lively. The staff really stood out as they were friendly, attentive and added to the energy. At one point, the screens in front of us showed only football, so we asked if they can change the channel. One of the employees joked around saying they can't change it. But when we were about to flip a lid, he said just kidding. It was a funny moment that made the experience feel very personal. Drinks (the beers), were reasonably priced, which is always a plus in a sports bar. The food was standard bar food. Nothing memorable. Overall, this place is a great spot to watch the Knicks game.

THE place to watch football and sports in general!…read more I've had the pleasure of coming here a few times to watch my beloved Chelsea play, but yesterday was one for the books. I came in relatively early and managed to get a great seat at the bar and meet some of the local supporters. For some reason on this trip, my phone has been dying fast and at an alarming rate. Jack, the owner, was kind enough to let me charge it while I watched the game! Unlike the other places I've been to whilst on my trip, I was given water immediately. Drink wise, I got a blueberry and sprite (go figure). Food wise, I was able to get a smaller Caesar salad and the chicken pesto pasta. The salad came out lighting quick and was the perfect portion. I had requested a smaller salad since they were all one size and I knew I wouldn't be able to finish the big one. My pasta came out right after and again, they nailed it. It was creamy, fresh, and al dente. Side note, the dish comes with bacon but they were happy to remove it. The ambiance of this place will keep you on your seat. I say that because there are so many supporters of other clubs watching games at the same time but in different sections. Suffice to say, you'll never be bored, go hungry, or wonder where to catch a fixture in a well air-conditioned place. Jack is amazing and his kindness and hospitality really made for an exceptional visit. Can't wait to come back next time I'm in town.

It was however to loud where you can barely hear/understand the waiters or the ppl in your party that youre talking to. Cool vibes but the food fell short. I ordered the soul loving and the only thing good was the yams, the mac n cheese was okay. I didnt like the collard greens. The chicken look like it was Bam Bams bat from the flintstones aka steroid chicken; it was so friggin big & lacked seasoning/flavor. I also ordered the yum yum shrimp w the sauce on the side in case it was to spicy. I ate a few shrimp w/o the sauce & it was not good imo. I left more than 1/2 my food on my plate. Both my friends had the rasta pasta - 1 w shrimp 1 w chicken. My friend w the chicken picked her chicken out stating it tasted funny & the pasta was better w/o it. She also got fish tacos which she did not like them either. The drinks were good. We only had the montana, margarita & rum punch. I'd return mainly for the music & drinks. The waitress asked if we wanted to go bags & I said no immediately & my face said it all. She was like you didnt like it. Im like nah its a no for me. She brought me a drink since i wasnt happy. That was nice of her as I wasnt expecting anything.

For me, it's the food that wins for me. Hudson Station as I mentioned is not much to see from the inside but it had a Cheers (tv show) like charm. As I sat waiting for the waiter to come and take the order, I couldn't help but think about the tv show and the similarities from the show. The service was ok but the food was better. I enjoyed an amazing pulled pork sandwich with slaw on top. The BBQ sauce from the pulled pork was perfect. I had a side of fries and a few bears. My friend had a burger that he reports was good as well. Unfortunately, the waiter in the end botched the bill and made us late for our show. I was not pleased with that outcome but I did enjoy the food and music. From what I can tell, it seems like a happening place. I believe there may be a lounge upstairs but I'd have to return to confirm that. That said, I will be back and I recommend that you give them a try.
