Yesterday, 2nd October 2023, our first visit at 1pm. ok, this place is great. Tomato, roasted mushroom soup was probably the best soup we have ever had. Easily one of the best places to enjoy a meal. Staff and owner were exceedingly friendly and helpful and very welcoming. The food was simply great! I could not see anything on the menu I would not have so making my choice was hard, but eventually succeeded! If I had to complain it would be that there was so much great food on each plate that I had to work to finish it all. Will certainly be back! read more

my friend introduced me to this place. We both work several blocks northeast of Chinook mall and I gotta tell ya, there's really not much flare in the industrial area. So, when my bud told me we were going for burgers close to work at this new place he found, I wasn't expecting much... I was expecting a dive. we pulled up to this place that outside looked like a place where you'd buy wholesale industrial equipment anything pure use to seeing out here like a car part store. Before I went inside, I had to take a call and that distracted me. Anyhow, I walked in and one of the first things I saw besides the order counter was on the left, two well played Salmon fillets on a bed of mashed potatoes and greens... WTF?! my jaw actually dipped and i was completely surprised that this place served up this kind of food. They said the upstairs was full so we sat at the main level. Have a look at my photos btw. salmon was the special and was delicious! it was fresh and seasoned well. it was on special and only cost $13.95 if you can believe it. The beef stew on the other hand was well beef stew and was $12.95 (over priced in my books). My only bad points of the place was they don't have a menu and their chalkboard doesn't tell you the prices for everything; So, unless you love having to ask how much everything you're interested in costs, don't bother asking and just get surprised that you we're charged $12.95 for a bowl of stew. 4.5 stars form me really, but no point five ratings so straight to 5 for the great service and completely taking this area's cuisine choices to a whole new level. peace read more

Just a splendid experience all in all. Without request the server beautifully split our two shared meals onto separate plates when he heard we were sharing our orders. Impeccable service, second only to the food, which was outstanding. We had the bacon cheddar burger with amazing soup of the day, and the fancy Mac 'n cheese - which is not something I normally order at a restaurant because it's easy to make an excellent homemade Mac n cheese, but something about the restaurant and the menu description made me want to try and it was unbelievable! read more

Black Apron is tucked in an in a light industrial park not far from Chinook train station. I went to check it out because of a recommendation from a friend who knew I worked close by. If it wasn't for the sandwich board outside, you may not know it was a restaurant at all. It has a door on the 62 Ave SE side of the parking lot. It's a simple, clean space with friendly staff that are very quick to say hello and assist. A friend and I split a Reuben sandwich and the Creole Sausage Mac N Cheese with a side garden salad each. Both meals looked amazing as they came to the table and the taste didn't disappoint. That was the cheesiest mac I've had in a long time. The price point is real nice and the meal came at a very timely manner. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

Had lunch today at this out of the way gem in the industrial section east of Chinook Centre. What a great little place!!! The staff is super friendly and very willing to please. The food was great!! I had the beef tenderloin cheese steak, the meat was so tender and delicious, I may have it on our next visit. If you're looking for a new place to go for lunch, give Black Apron a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

We hired Black Apron Cuisine to cater our wedding on April 1, 2017 and we could not have been happier! After attending a few wedding shows and meeting with a number of caterers, we were starting to feel a little lost. With the others, all of our discussions started with "pick one item from column A and 2 items from column B". When we first met Juan Luis and Stephen we were at a loss for words. The conversation started with questions like "what do you like to eat?" "what are your favourite foods?" "what foods to you dislike?" They worked with us to create a menu and ran with it. Not only were they great with our normal menu, they created delicious dishes for all of our guests with dietary restrictions (vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, lactose, etc) with multiple options for each. Our guests were blown away as usually it is down to one bland meal for anyone that is different. On site on the day couldn't have gone smoother. Their staff looked after our entire wedding and were very professional and courteous. For a wedding of 140 it still felt like an intimate affair. Even a week later I am still hearing from our friends about the food (and the balsamic emulsion salad dressing) :) My wife and I cannot speak highly enough about Black Apron and we would recommend them to anyone for anything. We are even now looking at them for some catering for work functions. If you are ever looking for someone to cater any event or function, these are the people to call! read more

This place is awesome. It's almost a crime that it's not more busy than it is. Staff is super friendly and attentive to customers, food is incredible and an incredible price. Don't judge this place by its exterior because the food is better than most $30-40 entree restaurants at a $12 price tag. Will definitely be coming back. Only downside is limited parking, so get here early for lunch read more

Awesome....the staff and the food far exceeded my expectations and the humble location but it's well worth the experience. If I was in town more often I would definitely be a regular. I have been going to the Black Apron since just after they opened up, and frequent the location at least once a week, if not more. The food is amazing! I go with an open mind, for I never know what special I will be greeted with. Regardless of the menu options, they are all worth it. I am in sales, and I love bringing clients to the location. The three guys treat me and my guest with such respect, and make it feel like we're home, instead of a business meeting. If you are in the area for breakfast or lunch, go see the boys, you will not regret it. read more

I don't know how I stumbled on to this place - a John Gilchrist review in the paper I think. If so, thank-you Mr Gilchrist. Small and out of the way, with somewhat odd hours (not open evening and weekends). The place is run by two gentlemen who are skilled and obviously care deeply about bringing the best possible food to their loyal customers - of which I am happy to say I am now one after my first visit. The burgers are bar none the best in YYC. Lobster Mac and Cheese, homemade with real lobster! I have four more days of vacation - if I split it into half days I can enjoy Black Apron EIGHT more times this year! read more

I am a small business owner, not far from Black Apron. I would drive by it every day, on my way to Tim Hortons or A&W, to grab lunch. Tired of these lunches and seeing my waistline expand, I gave Black Apron a call. I spoke to Steve and ordered a Seared Chicken sandwich and salad. The bill was about the same as Tim Hortons, but the difference was night and day. The sandwich was fresh and hot, the salad came with a balsamic dressing. While I was waiting for Steve to prepare my lunch, we chatted. Turns out these guys specialize in catering, small or large groups. I mentioned I was looking for more healthy options and he said all I need to do is let him know my dietary requirements / restrictions and he would prepare a lunch for me... Try getting that at a Fast Food outlet. Anyway, he has won my business. I will be using him for future catering as well. Black Apron just catered our 30 person Christmas office party in our home. They did an amazing job. The food was like a fine dining restaurant just opened in my home! Everything was prepared fresh, beautifully seasoned and just a little different. Juan and his staff were attentive, effective and efficient. Appetizers were creative and elegant. The main buffet was amazing, beautifully presented, and really delicious. The dessert was fantastic. Everyone was complementing the food. Just what you want. They cleaned up and left the place clean and tidy. With all free rental equipment out in the garage ready for pickup. What more could you ask for? read more

We hired Black Apron to cater and bartend a 80 person event in a house for a birthday. We found them via a google search, had never heard anything about them before but read good reviews. They were absolutely phenomenal. I hosted the event, planned the event, pulled my hair out attempting to organize the event and the second they walked in the house they completely took over everything. The evening went extremely smoothly, Stephen and Juan are incredibly sweet, charismatic and accommodating. I highly recommend. I have strict dietary restrictions and thus couldn't eat anything however everyone at the party praised the food especially the sliders.
