    Proof of meal

I have been here before and the CT lobster roll was a favorite of mine for quite some time. It use to be $20 without a side of French fries and they would stuff the warm bread with fresh lobster and butter, seasoned to perfection. Today I visited BK Lobster with two other friends, one who was there for the first time. The same lobster for $20 is off the menu, but you can get the same lobster with a side of French fries for $35 now. There were about four other tables dining in and we were all disappointed with the tiny portion size, high prices and slow service. I wanted to use my Foxwoods points to put towards the meal and they told me it would be a 25% charge for using it! Why? No other store in the mall charges you to use your points. My friend bought chicken wings and asked for the bbq sauce on the side. She received crispy, dry, burnt wings with a side of attitude. The waitress actually walked away saying, "I bet if they were at Hell's Kitchen they wouldn't be complaining." Here's what you need to know, when everyone in your place is complaining you should try to fix the problem not get an attitude and mumble under your breath. Also, treat people as you would like to be treated. I also forgot to mention that their soda machine was out of order, a small bottle of Ting was over $7 and they add an additional charge on the check that I've never seen except on a cruise. Would I ever go again...NO

Chicken wing and half of a biggie roll!

Located in the outlet. Which is connected to hotel and casinos. Setting is like a nice restaurant. Ordering is like fast food. Service was friendly. Order wings and a stuff lobster roll. Both was different for me. I'm a southern girl. I'm not used to this style of cooking. Would go again if in that area.

Very hot but super salty fries

Holly was our host. She told us get a menu off the counter and grab a seat. She was the only front end staff with 11 customers. First let me say the food was piping hot (that was the only positive.) We ordered 2 bigge's and some jerk wings. She tried to talk us into some other lemon pepper style wings - now we know why. But we rejected the offer and stuck with the jerk. We love jerk. The fries had a HEAVY overwhelming amount of old bay seasoning which was too salty. The brioche hotdog bun was so soggy you could barely pick it up. Lobster meat tasted frozen for sure and when I questioned her she did not deny it. The bigge was supposed to have extra meat ? It had 3 claws and maybe 2 knuckles - not a bit of tail meat in either. The wings were real Jamaican style jerk so they were immensely hot and way over cooked (dried out) - (my husband likes heat but I need some dip) we never received the ranch until we were almost done and I asked again. She apologized and brought it over. The presentation of the food was also poor- Arby's style checkered wax paper and a cheap plastic basket....maybe a metal basket and a decent plate with butter cup ? Just a suggestion. Bottled water was 4$ typical for the casino. Atmosphere was very boring - nothing on the walls - front end of the restaurant looked closed- Big oven and prep station but nothing in any of them. And the price was not congruent with the food - 33.00 for a bigge and 18 for 7 wings -she asked how everything was and I was 100% truthful with no filter. She decided wavering the wings would be sufficient and when she said she did that to prevent bad reviews on yelp...boy was she surprised when she found out I love to review!! Maybe things will get better for this place but I don't see it going anywhere without some help. Not worth your time - keep moving waste of $100

    Biggie Lobster Roll

Based on the reviews received on this spot, I was skeptical, but since I was in Foxwoods, I decided to give it a try. I got the Biggie Lobster roll and it came with fries, to my surprise. It was DELICIOUS!!! I took a couple of bites of it before I posted. The staff was very friendly. They've just been open two months. Give them a shot!!

I really liked the ambiance of the space, it's quite comfortable and has a nautical aesthetic. We were sat in a cozy little corner by the window, a great spot for watching the bustling of the little seaside town. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of the restaurant's offerings, noting in their introduction that the focus of the menu is on fresh local seafood, and that everything on the menu is freshly made in house. I was very eager to try a cup of the clam chowder for an appetizer since many other reviewers have said that it's some of the best they've ever tasted, and after trying it for myself I'm more than inclined to agree with them; it had a perfect consistency and excellent flavor. Boyfriend wanted the fried mozzarella so we got some of that, and that was pretty tasty as well. Boyfriend got the chicken parm sandwich for his meal and I got the fish and chips. I didn't end up trying the sandwich, but he said he liked it. My fish and chips plate was pretty good; the fish tasted just a tad under seasoned to me, however the flavorful tartar sauce helped with that and I could tell the fish itself was great quality. The hand cut fries were good, but I wasn't really a fan of the coleslaw. Overall we had a pleasant experience at The Mariner. A very good choice for fresh seafood and a relaxed vibe. I'm sure I'll be in town again at some point; if I come back to The Mariner, I'll make a point to get a bowl of the clam chowder instead of a cup, because that alone is absolutely worth returning for... but until then, I'll be dreaming about it.

It was taco Tuesday, so their fish, shrimp, clam, and calamari just tacos were 7.99. I ordered the lobster roll, a fish taco, a shrimp taco, a small onion ring, and got a half tea, half lemonade. This was way too much food, btw. Ambiance wise, it's like a food truck sprouted roots and picnic tables, but at least they have covered seating now so on a hot day there's shade. You order at the window and they'll bring you the food to the table you choose. The lobster roll had decent lobster, not the juiciest but not chewy either. It was missing some toasting on the bun, but it could have done with half the butter. Everything was so saturated that it detracted from the experience and then sat heavy afterwards. Loads of lobster, though. The tacos were each the size of my forearm. There were two overlapping tortillas so it was easy to pick one up and let any overflow fall into the second tortilla. Unfortunately there was an imbalance of dry, floury ingredients to juicy ones. The tortillas were not grilled or toasted, so just raw flour tortillas. The shredded cheese also had a moisture sucking quality. The breading on the shrimp and fish lacked seasoning, thus presenting as flour forward. It was served with a white sauce but rather than being a crema it had a sour cream consistency, and the taco was already heavy after the lobster roll was sitting heavy from all the butter. This left the coleslaw and tomatoes to do all the lifting of adding moisture and lightness to the taco, and there was just too much to overcome. Maybe without the cheese it could have been fine? Finally the onion rings were really good and the side of coleslaw was pleasant to eat. All in all, it's worth stopping in and getting food here. I come a couple times a year myself, try different parts of the menu. Nothing blows me away but nothing turns me away either.

I haven't been in probably 8 years, but at its core this place has stayed steady. The people are amazing, I never lacked for anything the whole time I was there. I'm in awe of what it must take to stay on top of such a busy establishment as this. The ambiance is solid hunting lodge, with plenty of space for everyone to get where they need to go, and an impressive lobster tank. So much of the food is top notch, which is why I was sad that the filet mignon was grainy and flavorless. Years ago I recall having some of the best steak here, and that's been lost. I tried four of the side salads too (mussel, calamari, lobster, and seaweed), with the seaweed salad being the only good one. The ribs, the corn, lobster mac and cheese, these were all great. The hidden gem was the desserts. Airy milkshakes, tart gooseberries and lemon bars, delectable lobster tails, and a mousse cup in a tiny chocolate shell. I definitely overate, but still wished I could try more things. The two hour time limit zooms by, but I don't you'll leave dissatisfied, unless you were hoping for a good steak.

The brunch menu offers a nice assortment of options as we had one member in our party who had some eating restrictions. We started off with both raw and roasted oysters, both of which, we some of the best we have ever had. I love Shashuka. I've never had it with tomatillos. This version is now my favorite. I enjoyed the play between savory and acid. I chose my eggs to be prepared over easy expecting the yolks to add the desired richness that tomatillos can handle without overpowering their bite. What set this version apart for me was the addition of the pickled vegetables. They greatly complimented the tomatillos with their own sweetness and acidity that made for a well balanced bite. Others in our party felt similarly, that their meals were so flavorful and so well execucted that it made for a superb dining experience.
