The restaurant was close to my hotel so decided to check it out. The food was good and I chose healthy options. Service was good, however it took awhile for my food to be ready (it was quite busy). There is plenty of parking outside. The inside has nice decor and a mix between sports bar and nice sit down restaurant. Overall I enjoyed my meal here and would come back.

I came in with a friend around 10 and were placed on a brief wait. Unfortunately, every single time we come in it seems like the hosts are far less than happy to see us, which is usually a tell tale sign of the experience we are about to receive. Once we got seated, we sat un-greeted for around 5-7 minutes. During this time we watched our waiter, Anthony, and the manager chatting it up with a table across from us instead of greeting us and another table he was sat after us. Once we finally were greeted we placed our food and drink order. I got my drink in a timely manner however the glass was dirty and I flagged down the manager to grab a new mug for me. My friend waited about 15 minutes before we finally caught him to ask him where her drink was at the same time he was dropping off our appetizers whic we received AFTER my entree where the chicken was room temp. We waited another couple of minutes for him to arrive with her entree where her fries were drenched in oil and not even hot. I can expect oil on hot fries, but these were cold and soggy which just added on top of the disappointment. We ordered a pizookie and then paid online. He came up to our table one last time to see if we wanted boxes, and after my friend said she wanted one, he went up to the bar to chit chat with another one of his friends it seems since he sat directly beside him. We also witnessed, throughout the night, another patron get up from his table multiple times and order drinks from the bartender rather than the server. This is not the first time we've received bad service here but we come every now and then hoping for a better experience. Overall, almost every time I've dined here, I've received bad and slow service, mediocre food, and management that does not seem to care. I usually love BJ's at other locations but this one simply is not up to par.

To begin with we walked in late. It was 945 at night. There was not a lot of people they are surprisingly, and they shut down multiple areas in the restaurant, but still plenty of room at the bar area to sit. We grabbed a small booth and sat down. It took about 12 to 15 minutes for somebody to acknowledge us to come get our drink order. Once the young man did get our drink orders, they were brought out in a timely manner. We asked about the house drinks that were on special as well as appetizers. We ordered the wonton off of the list and he asked if we would like the spicier or regular. We went with the spicier. Just FYI, if you go with the spicier it's 15.99 versus six dollars. Definitely would've went with the cheaper side. My husband ordered a Jack Daniels and Dr Pepper because they did not have Coke products. The first was a single short and it was just fine. The second he ordered was a double short and it was the same exact as the first one. He told the young man and the waiter himself went and made the drink. It definitely was better and had the two shots in it. My husband ordered wings boneless and I ordered the 8 ounce sirloin. I had brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. I had my steak cooked to medium rare. I may steak snob because I used to judge me in college. I knew the moment the state came out. It was not a sirloin. It was literally a 2 inch rectangle roast that they called a sirloin. It was medium well too well done in the entire steak. I made mention to my server and he did take it back and bring out a new one again the same exact thing but I just told him that never mind leave it alone. The waiter had the stake removed from our ticket. The only thing I ate off of my plate with two bites of potatoes, two bites of steak and all of the brussels sprouts that were also overcooked. The mashed potatoes were so dry and you could find flakes of uncooked mashed potatoes in them . Again, the waiter was apologetic and we had no problems with service after we got our drinks finally. I ended up tipping him 30% just because of the hassle of everything, but he took exceptional care of us. We had a pizza to go, but the problem is the toppings weren't cooked. We ordered a pepperoni, sausage and double mushroom. A personal pan. The mushrooms were 100% raw still. Again, not good. I'm not sure that we will return to this location because out of the five times we've come it has not been good food the last three times. The only reason we stopped by this time was because we got into town so late.

There service was quick and the waitress and host were both very kind and helpful. The calamari was probably the best I've had so far. The shrimp tacos were great and the side of beans with the shrimp tacos were very flavorful.

The wait time has been consistently awful. About an hour and a half to receive the food in my most recent visits. Most of the food was served cold, so quality does not make it worth the wait. BJ's is a decent chain restaurant, but this is not their best location. Our server today was great on the other hand! He was charismatic and efficient, so I'm assuming it's a kitchen or low staff dilemma. Restaurant itself appeared clean! Overall, don't come here unless you have plenty of time to spare and prepare for the wait time.

This isn't to say this is the worst food in existence, but for the price point I can't recommend this place. Let me start by saying this restaurant seems to have a massive variation in the quality of its dishes. I imagine the positive reviews probably ordered some sort of specialty signature dishes as what I got was just reprehensible. Do not order the tomato soup and grilled cheese, don't even consider it. For $9 I got a small cup of soup and HALF of a sandwich, must of been pretty good for the price right?.... I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that when I accidentally burn grilled cheeses at home, they are still better in every category than what I received here. Zero flavor. The tomato soup looked really good, but also had such little flavor that dunking the grilled cheese in it actually made the grilled cheese worse. This meal would've been a tough sell if my 5 year old cousin made it for me when I was sick. My friend also gave their green beans cause they didn't want it... and I can see why, it was also horrifically bland. Also nabbed a few tater tots from the chicken steak and they were super breaded, not bad but not impressive. The "shining" star of the experience was the mulita I got as an appetizer, quite good, like a 3/5 good though, still rather dry and covered in cilantro, came with some sauce, but overall the best thing I had. The decor of the place was just baffling. High ceiling, high chairs, white walls, random TTU alumni adorning the walls, tvs with sports running. Seemingly trying to be a nice place, but the kind of nice place where you can watch the latest football game while having an overpriced beer and the worst grilled cheese of your life. The service I got was fine, on the lower side of quality (especially for the price point). I did like the brown overalls they were wearing, very steampunk. When I saw this place had an overwhelmingly positive reception, I was excited to go there, but this was one of the most disappointing places I've visited in Lubbock which sucks cause it's local. For $20 i got half a grilled cheese, worst than canned soup, and 3 mulitas (which I shared). Maybe to some they would say this was a middling experience, but have some standards for yourself people. I sincerely hope that I just had rotten luck picking the worst item on the menu, and this place is actually quite good, but that's all optimism and no reality. What I got was one star, please fix your grilled cheese. 3/15 (+ brown overalls, + mulita, -everything else) Fails in pretty much every category, I'm sure some dishes are good, but I won't revisit in some futile attempt to find one

I will give major props to the server, Mollie, and her manager for doing a phenomenal job resolving a minor issue with the order quickly, politely, and effectively. The atmosphere was fair with good music and humorous decor in the bathroom. The lights weren't for me, but others may like the statement. Where The Reserve was lacking was the food. The pepperoni pizza was pretty good, but again there are better options around town. It did taste like it had been prepared in a genuine brick oven. The tortellini was bland. The queso was good enough, but nothing to get excited about. The salsa was downright terrible. The chips were actually phenomenal. The margarita made no attempt to cover up the strong taste of tequila. The Chilton tasted like club soda and not much else. Lastly, some of the surprise fees made me feel like I was booking air travel or paying a wireless bill rather than getting a nice meal. The final charge was a few dollars more than what was shown on the ticket. I assumed this was probably due to a service charge for paying with a card, although I didn't see it with a quick glance at the receipt. In all fairness, I'm sure this was disclosed somewhere and I overlooked it. I have come to accept this as the way of the world now. Also, when we ordered the chips and queso, we were asked if we wanted salsa with it. We accepted the salsa with the assumption that it was complimentary. Granted, since we were asked, I should have assumed that there was a charge for it. The charge was reasonable, although wasted because the salsa was so terrible. I did receive approximately a 5% discount for the order mix-up, and I actually ended up with a free pizza as well. The service and attentiveness were truly exemplary. I would give this place a second chance if I were in the area, but I certainly will not go out of my way for it.

I was back in Lubbock visiting my girlfriend after she had come to see me in Austin the last few times, and we were planning our weekend. I had previously taken her to The West Table to celebrate her graduation, and since we loved it, we knew we had to go back. Last time we went was an amazing experience. We had their arancini as our shared appetizer. She had their Roasted Beet Salad and the Grilled Rack of Lamb, while I had their Caesar and their Cast Iron Seared Duck Breast, which was amazing. We also enjoyed their specialty drinks. This time we arrived for our 7:00 reservation and were greeted and sat immediately. We both ordered a drink to start the night. I started with the Hibi-Jibi, a hibiscus and gin drink, while she had the Peach Ring Margarita. West Table is a farm-to-table scratch kitchen concept, so it's very important that you order all your food from appetizer to main course up front to give them time to craft it at the right pace. The West Table is at the floor level of the luxurious Pioneer Condos. It sits right across from their sister location, The Brewery LBK, and even serves their current brews on location. However, opting for their brews and not their cocktails is a mistake in my opinion because their specialty cocktails are truly one of a kind. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It feels like a ballroom and all the tables are well spaced out. In the back is the open kitchen where you can see all the chefs putting in hard work and mastering each meal. All around, there is great energy. We started with their Roasted Bone Marrow. I was worried about the idea of eating bone marrow since that was something I had never had before, but my girlfriend assured me it would be great. The bones were filled with an onion jam and lemon caper vinaigrette that were placed inside the bone. You could spread the jam and vinaigrette on their grilled bread, which was fantastic as well. It was purposely charred and really added to the jam's flavor profile. We then split their Caesar Salad, and it was a needed divider between our appetizer and entree. Their salad is a good portion for one person, and it was still satisfying being split for two. It was the perfect amount of salad. We got our next drinks ordered to go alongside our main entree. My girlfriend ordered their Fig Old Fashioned, while I got the "C" Monster, a celery-infused vodka drink with a name that sounds so stupid saying out loud that I almost changed my drink after saying it. Can I get the C Monster? WHAT A FOOL. The drink was really solid. The celery flavor was super noticeable, but in a good way. It balanced with the vodka quite nicely. For our main entrees, my girlfriend got their Salmon over Angel Hair pasta, and I got their Pork Chop over mashed potatoes and asparagus. The noodles with the salmon were strong with a very heavy Cajun kick, which complemented the crispy salmon piece, but my pork chop was the star of the show. They recommended it medium, so I got it medium, and it was delightful. Portions of the pork chop were nice and fatty, while others were lean and tender. I was a big fan of its flavor, and the sauce and mashed potatoes really added to it. Perfectly fluffy mashed potatoes. We closed the night with no dessert, but dessert drinks. My girlfriend got The Cold Fashioned (a mix between a smoked old fashioned and coffee liqueur), and I got the Buenas Noches, which mixes coffee liqueur, chocolate liqueur, and orange liqueur. Of all the "nice" restaurants in town, West Table stands alone. It has a price tag but still feels fair. Everything we had was top notch, and I still think they've made the best duck I've ever had. Their waitstaff is attentive and amazing and really sells the experience. At the end of the night, she was happy, I was happy, and West Table proved itself to be the LeBron of Lubbock restaurants.
