The first sketchy element is that the link my wife kept sending me kept taking me to a google search with an alternate name. It appears that they do business under two different names which is kind of shady. But the big problem is that when you try to schedule an appointment on their website, it asks you to choose three different times. This is really bad because in this area many people have jobs and families and you can't just bank on some random time MAYBE being available. So I tried to call in the morning and nobody answered. I tried to call again in the afternoon after I made the appointment and again nobody answered. This was for an appointment the next day. I got two auto-texts saying "sorry we missed your call" so I replied to the texts saying I have a job and four kids and I can't be left hanging on these appointments, and this is a bad first impression after my wife recommended this place. I get a call back FIVE minutes after that text from a someone sounding like a sorority chick who just got dumped by her boyfriend. Huge attitude immediately. She's like "Those are just APPOINTMENT REQUESTS, SIR! We have ONE appointment at 7:45am tomorrow." Okay, well the appointments I thought I signed up for were 2:15, 2:30, and 2:45. So I calmly asked why the website listed 12 appointments for tomorrow and 18 for the next day if none of those were really available. And she just kept replying to everything I said by getting increasingly loud and obnoxious so I finally said, "well I guess I will go to another practice then," and before I could even say thanks and bye, she hung up on me. After this conversation, a lot of stuff is even weirder as I think about it. If the appointments are "just requests," then why were there "no requests" listed today, "12 requests" tomorrow, and "18 requests" the next day? That's totally nonsensical because if nothing is guaranteed then why list ANY times that are definitely not available??? And if you're going to list some times, why not list them all? Still the worst is just the rudeness. If your instant response to someone texting that you made a bad first impression but TRYING TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION BY SETTING A FIRM APPOINTMENT is to call them back in a haughty tone, then perhaps you should not be employed in customer service. Or, maybe the front desk person was out today and I was called by a doctor. But that just makes things even worse. Anyway, imagine potentially gaining 5 new customers (the rest of my family) and instead losing one (my wife) with just one phone call! Amazing. Dr. Rhoton was thorough, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain why toric contact lenses would better correct my astigmatism and give me sharper vision. I expected a routine exam, but he spent over an hour making sure everything was just right. When I returned to pick up my contacts, Dr. Bermel noticed my eyes were red and offered to evaluate me for dry eye. He walked me through the advanced imaging and explained what he was seeing, which I really appreciated. The technology in this office is impressive, but what stood out even more was how kind and genuinely caring everyone was. I highly recommend this practice.

I received a call ahead of time asking if I could move it to 4:00 PM, which I agreed to. On the day of the appointment, I received another call asking if I could move it again to 3:20 PM. I agreed and arrived a few minutes early. By 3:30 PM, I still had not been seen, so I asked when I would be called back and did not receive a clear answer. I asked again at 3:45 PM and was given the same vague response. At 4:00 PM, I asked why I had been asked to arrive 40 minutes earlier only to wait 40 minutes past my appointment time. I was told they had an opening, but the current patient was taking longer than expected. I understand that schedules change and that delays happen in medical offices. However, the issue here was the complete lack of communication. I was left waiting with no updates or interaction for an extended period of time. Had the delay been communicated clearly, I could have made an informed decision earlier. At that point, the appointment no longer worked for my schedule, and I left. This office does not appear to value patients' time, and better communication would have made a significant difference in this experience.

After three months to trying to work it out at Cosco, I had one visit with this doctor and problem solved! I got both sun and regular glasses and the cost was not that much different. Most importantly, the eye exam was right on and only one trip to pick up my glasses. He's a good old fashioned Dr. that spends the time doing a thourough exam instead of just relying on machines. He was really good about explaining about different lenses, frames etc.
