Great hamburger and fries just like you ate in the 60-70s Good old fashion drive in food with car hops read more

Great place! Stopped on the way through town going to Breckenridge. Traditional diner/burger joint. $2.99 burgers!! Food was great.

Went there today and half the stalls still are not fixed so had to eat somewhere else And the portion size have gotten smaller There is just no point in even going there anymore read more

This place has been a local favorite for decades, it's been handed down through generations and it has always been a place where locals go and get their fix for their favorites. It's NOT a chain place where you pay for overpriced national advertising campaigns and they offer menu items that you will never find in another location. Super Burger with Ranch Fries is a favorite, and a multitude of treats you might not find in other places. It's worth a stop, you will be happy you did. Busy round noon with the local crowd, but they pull in and out pretty quickly. Stop here, you'll enjoy it. read more

I stopped here on my drive from Texas and was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. The menu is huge and has a little bit of everything. I got a cheeseburger with bacon of course, cheese fries and a dipped cone. Recommend to anyone wanting a good burger! read more

We ordered a double mushroom burger with onions and a cheeseburger deluxe which came with fries, DEElicious!!!! For desert we had a small root beer float and a small caramel nut sundae made with hard ice cream. The sundae was huge for only $3.99. $25.86 total. Wonderful food, service and clean tables and bathroom. You can eat inside or order from your car, we'll be back read more

I thought I was at a drive-up in the 80's. The prices, phone at all the tables, food and service were perfect. I will be back! read more

We tried the chicken strips, burger, taco burger, tacos, onion rings, and fries. Admittedly, the chicken strips looked bland but they were actually good. I like the idea that the burgers are smaller than I'm used to, (looked like about 1/4 lb and they do offer a larger one) but so is the price. Allows you to mix and match better. We dined inside and service is cool. You order on an old school phone and they bring it out to you. Everything was clean and, friendly, and food was not disappointing. They also have several varieties of ice cream novelties. My only real negatives were I should have ordered a larger beverage and we paid via credit card and didn't see option to tip. Only had like $3 cash with us and would have tipped more if prepared. read more

Good food. Very good service for me and my aunt and 2 of my cousins. The ambiance of the building was great. I would always go back to Bj's if I ever go through Lamar to see family. read more

Poor Drive up experience. The person taking orders was too fast and didnt read back order to make sure it was correct. And of course the order we got was WRONG. Mine had wrong and missing toppings, my wife's order was missing items. ALL because the order take was in a hurry and didn't read the order back to ensure it was correct!! Pathetic. On the bright side the car hop was nice. She thanked us even we couldn't leave a tip for credit card purchase, I've never heard of that before. I feel bad for carhops hustling working hard and can't get tipped on credit card purchases. read more

Very clean place. Our whole group had burgers and fries. It is a very good basic hamburger. Fries were great. Staff friendly. Would go back, good place to stop on roadtrip. read more

If you want a good, cheap, fast food burger and are in Lamar, this is the place. The regular burger was like $1.65 and it was well worth it. Much better than the fast food chains. I also had the onion rings, which were crispy and delicious and the peanut butter/chocolate shake was totally legit. I wouldn't hesitate to stop Everytime I am going through Lamar. Cheap prices, solid fast food, and pleasant, quick service. read more

Outstanding service and food!! We go there all the time very good service Thankyou B Js

The food at BJ's is almost a way of life in our community, from Bob Johnson to Fred and now the new owners strive to give the best food at the most affordable prices for this day and age , The Super burger taste just as great as it did when Bob had a drive in and eatery 2 blocks north on the opposite side of Main Street, the car hops are friendly and always have a welcoming smile , across the full menu of Ice Creams , sundaes, twists cones , sodas, shakes, smothered burritos, shrimp baskets and the fries are the best , their food is trusted and 40 plus years in the drive up food industry speaks for itself, the indoor dinning is neatly arranged always clean as a whistle and family fun while listening to a family member order from a hand held old school phone , the patrons are always happy with big smiles while enjoying their family and the great food and atmosphere that BJ's has to offer , thank you to all the wonderful hard working employees as well as the past and previous owners for an outstanding service. What can I say? The burgers were a crossbreed of a McDonald's and White Castle. I do approve of The Cajun fries & prices were good. read more

What a great little diner to stop at on our way home from skiing! It def hit the spot!! Amazing burgers & the frings are perfect way to get both onion rings AND French fries (GENIUS!!). Loved that we found this place along our way. Highly recommend for quick & yummy lunch! Bonus-you get to order from a phone at your table :) read more

We were passing through traveling from Texas to Colorado and love to support local business but this one is not worth visiting! The food was horrible! Frozen patties, fries, and onion rings. The mushrooms that were on the mushroom Swiss burger were out of a can and disgusting. The service was awful too! Every single person I spoke to was so rude! We ordered shakes to go,which were sub-par, but the best part of the meal. When the waitress brought them to the table we asked which one is which and replied "I have no idea" then walked off. The place has a cute setup with a 70's vibe and would be a good place if they would improve their customer service and put some effort into their food prep using fresh instead of frozen ingredients. McDonalds has better food and service than this place and I am NOT a McDonalds fan! read more

I make it a habit of trying to locate the Mom and Pop style burger joints when passing through a particular town. As I'm headed South we stopped in Lamar and gave this place a try. I ordered a double burger and my son had a hamburger. Of course with fries. Burger was great, just what I'd expect from a local joint. Fries were great too. Son went back and grabbed a cone. Just completely delicious. Thanks again BJ's, we'll definitely be back! read more

Went here for lunch yesterday. It's a drive up place like Sonic. Ordered a B.J. Superburger combo, with iced tea, and fries and also a chili cheese dog. Service was fast and friendly. Food was all very good. Ate all the fries on my 20 minute drive back to work. Perfectly hot, crispy, and salted just right. Had the burger when I got back to work and it was very good. I was pretty filled up, so I let the chili cheese dog sit on my desk for an hour or so before I ate it. Although cold, it was also excellent. I'll go back again. And oh yeah, prices are super reasonable! read more

Great local place with big portions and low prices. Worth a stop, the burger and shake was awesome!

When I saw the menu and prices I knew I was in for a treat. This is a popular spot with locals. I got the Mushroom n Swiss burger with green chiles, lettuce, and tomatoes--thumbs up. The Cajun Fries were too salty for me though but I still finished them all. Oreo shake hit the spot. I wish I could tip using credit card. Being cash for your friendly servers. read more

Driving through on our way home to Texas. Hope to come this way again to be able to stop. We got the cheeseburger deluxe (which comes with fries) & the mushroom and swiss burger & a side of hush puppies. Everything was very good. We noticed this spot while traveling around town. It was super busy and we decided after viewing the reviews we wanted a taste! We pulled in and even with the busy crowd the staff was quick to answer the buzzer. They made the food fast and fresh. Burgers were great, shakes are amazing too. They make their shakes handmade with real ingredients! I ordered a cherry shake and was impressed to have real cherries blended inside it, tasted amazing! Great drive in and great food! read more

Pretty good and affordable spot to eat at, three people at for near $20. Got a chicken sandwich with a strawberry burst slush, and 2 cheeseburgers with fries. You order through a phone, which is a bit weird, but it's unique. Fast and nice service read more

On our way home during vacation, we wanted to stop in a "local flavor" type place. Glad we stopped here. The ordering system was quaint, kind of old school Sonic carhop type, even inside! Service was prompt, and the food was just what we needed. read more

We have eaten here several times. Patrons can eat in their vehicles or sit inside the restaurant. The inside tables are cute. Ordering is done in an old-fashioned way with a telephone at the booth. The food is delicious. I enjoy the mushroom swiss burger without a bun and usually add jalapenos. We also love the nachos, peach drink, and limeade. The banana split with hard ice cream is delicious. I wish the receipts had a way to add a tip, but they do not, so cash for tips is a must. Our children enjoy visiting as a family. read more

A must visit when the town of Lamar Co! A lot of unique items to choose from. My daughter loves to get the grape sprite! She says it tastes like a starburst. Drive up and order like you would at Sonic or go inside and sit in a cafe like atmosphere. (Except the waitress only brings food to you after you order on an intercom) Fred takes great pride in his hamburger joint and is usually there working alongside his staff! read more

Great small town burger joint. Skip McDonalds and try this hometown favorite. The ranch fries and onion rings are great choices!

First meal in Lamar. Thanks. Pretty good burgers. We will be back. You came highly recommended. Good quality and flavor.

We enjoyed the food service and atmosphere. This is a great stop we thought the nostalgia of the ordering with a phone by the table was cool. And we also enjoyed the trivia on the table. read more

Summary: Sonic is better, you Expect to get mediocre flash-frozen fried food there. Good: -Looks like a good place for teenage boys to pick up girls. -The order taker sounded like Dane Cook (maybe not really a good but I'm trying). Bad: -Phone in the dining room is horrible, you expect to be able to talk to the order taker but it's like talking to a drive-in speaker. -All of their regular dinners are frozen prepared (not fresh). Not sure about the Mexican food. Fries, frozen; onion rings, frozen (but assured that they were Gourmet); shrimp, frozen (this is a given, but still); and the small hamburger patties don't look hand formed. -Nasty salads, just hamburger lettuce and tomatoes with a big packet of dressing. To the BJ's Owner, Making a very successful small town fast food joint where people drive in for hundreds of miles isn't impossible. Also, see examples below. Keys to small town burger success: -Hand formed patties (they don't have to be big or small) -Freshly cut fries -Freshly made onion rings -Fresh buns Do just those things and you don't have to compete with Sonic. You can also take a business vacation to the best burger places in the country for some ideas.
