The best lentil soup I have ever had. Now let me explain why I gave it 4 stars and not 5. The cafe is spacious with lots of seating. Very bright and filled with plants. The staff are very chill if that makes sense. No smiles, jokes, even conversations amongst themselves. They move at a slower pace. I placed a call in order and I still had to wait some time and observed all this while standing there. The staff are not in a hurry. Not necessarily a negative thing but just the vibe at that moment. Something else significant that I noticed, was there was no AC. I got 3 golden temple stacks with added vegetables and a 8oz soup along with tip totaling $53.13. They ask you in person if you want to add a tip so be prepared for that. There is parking specific for golden temple and a person sitting outside monitoring the space. I would definitely go back for the food but the stars do have to align. I do not want to be the person picking it up and I would only dine in during winter months.

I ordered the seafood pasta, and you could immediately tell the pasta was homemade. It was fresh, perfectly cooked, and the seafood was beautifully prepared. My daughter had the spaghetti, and my husband ordered the Waldorf salad, which was just as thoughtfully put together. Our waitress also recommended the hummus and house pickles, and I'm so glad we listened. Both were fresh, unique, and the perfect way to start the meal. From the food to the service, everything felt polished without being pretentious. It was one of those meals where every dish was executed with care and attention to detail. Overall, The Essential was such a pleasant surprise and proof that you can find five star dining experiences in the most unexpected places. If you're anywhere near Birmingham, this place is absolutely worth the stop.

My drink order was taken (water) and my server, who answered all of my questions, was very patient and pleasant. For my appetizer, I ordered the spring rolls. They were freshly made and came out hot and crispy. I enjoyed them and would order them again. Now the main course. I opted for the spicy Himalayan chicken, medium heat. I love spicy food, and I thought I was doing the right thing by ordering the medium level. However, it was very spicy! I did notice however, that the longer it sat, the level evened out some. Still, on my next visit, I will try the mild level to compare. The dish was delicious and very flavorful. The white rice added just the right amount of coolness to the chicken and veggies. Upon leaving, I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken in mild. I'm not sure if it's because it's a totally different flavor profile, but the mild has very little spicy. I just can't believe it's that much difference between the mild and medium levels. The drunken noodles were just okay, in my opinion. There was not a lot of juice, spice not flavor in this dish. On my next visit, I will stick with the Himalayan chicken and order it in mild just to test out my theory. It has a nice slice of toast with cream cheese, thinly sliced avocado on top, and a boiled egg. I really enjoyed it with a side of bacon. My husband ordered the egg cheese Sammy. It was really yummy as well. We had a French press coffee and mimosa. The decor was really pretty. I've been here for dinner and enjoy the dinner menu as well. I've had the burger before for brunch and that was really juicy and nice. No complaints here :) Great outdoor patio. Parking on the street. Definitely check them out!

That's a huge plus; the number of times I've seen referees having to pass on the side because they didn't have utensils! The entree was a chicken pita. It did have a few fresh onions, but I enjoyed them since I didn't have to be the one dragon breathing around the field all day. We did have a choice of roasted potatoes or basmati rice. The potatoes went much quicker than the rice; I had the potatoes and they were fantastic. There was also a tray of chocolate chip cookies provided. I don't think they were frash made; they looked similar to other restaurants generic chocolate chip cookies. They were a nice addition to the lunch, though. They also provided sweet and unsweet tea in gallon jugs.

Recently had Tasty Town as a catered lunch for a sporting event…read more Our lunch was a chicken pita (wrapped like taco of sorts) and I got roasted potatoes as my side. They also brought a large side box of chocolate chip cookies that were individually wrapped. Everyone loved the wraps, though the fresh onions were a little rough on some of us. Others took heed and removed a couple so their afternoon running up and down the field wasn't filled with regret. The potatoes were a hit; wish I could get them again.
