We made it a point to stop here during our short one-day trip to Kailua, because I read all the raving reviews about the fresh, moist scones that are sold. We arrived at around 1pm on a Monday (MLK day), and there were only about half the varieties left. The owner was very sweet and told us how she uses fresh and organic fruits whenever she can. We ended up getting the: Lilikoi Cream Cheese Scone $3.25 - just as all the reviews said, this one was the best! The lilikoi flavor was prominent and just a bit tart, which was great with the creamy cream cheese. The inside for both the lilikoi and the raspberry ones were very soft and moist - it was like a dense cake (and resembles the texture of the Diamond Head Market & Grill scones) Organic Raspberry Cream Cheese Scone $3.25 - not as strong a raspberry flavor as I was hoping, I think this one was my least favorite. Peppermint Bark Scone $3.95 - I really liked this one. Bummer that it wasn't as moist as the fruity ones, and just a tad bit on the dry side, but I guess it can't be helped because the ingredients that go into it are different. It tasted like she used the Andie's mint chocolates for it - you could see the pockets of mint syrup oozing out of the melted chocolate on the inside. read more

Great place for scones...my favorites are the lilikoi and coconut. I love the butterfly pea flower iced tea with lychee puree, my daughter loves the tiramisu latte with cheese foam. There are so many different flavors, I've yet to try everything! read more

I tried the cream cheese lilikoi scone and the pumpkin spice scone. They were just ok. The dough of the lilikoi scone was bland, there was too much cream cheese and not enough of the lilikoi glaze. The pumpkin spice was much better. The dough was spiced nicely and had the right amount of glaze. My main issue is the price. Each scone was $5.95. They're small in size and mediocre in taste. Overrated, Dry, Bits & Bites but add the CH in the end service. If you're looking for a place with the worst attitude, this is it. The owner's behavior was unbelievably rude, making the entire experience uncomfortable and frustrating. It's one thing to have an off day, but treating customers with such disdain is unacceptable. The attitude here is enough to make anyone walk out, and I certainly won't be coming back. There are far better places where customers are treated with basic respect. Avoid this place if you value good service and a welcoming atmosphere. read more

Today I chose the cranberry orange and lemon scones! Jessica is a one woman show, baker and owner! The lemon was so nice and light (a perfect bite after doing some bloodwork next door!) Formally Mama Nita's Scones now owned by Jessica who worked and learned the technique while working for mama nita. Open for 3 mths now, def a must stop when in kailua town. Heads up the Mama Nita sign is still up for now. I love scones and its soo hard to find the perfect scone moist/soft inside and crispy/crunchy outside on the island. Jessica's scones are divine flavors are on point and quality is there. Honestly the best scones I've had so far hands down. I dropped in today around 1pm yes she closes at 2pm so I expected a limited selection. If you want more options go early. I got a variety box cuz I couldn't make a decision. My fav was the blueberry cream cheese. I also got a few day old scones it was still good but mixed with the fresh baked selection I could def tell which was day old. She has sweet and savory as well as gluten free options. She also has local flavors like lilikoi and guava. The shop atmosphere is soo relaxing. Few tables to enjoy tea or coffee and your scone or scones. She has drinks and oh so ono Japanese cheese cake. Street meter parking available in front of the shop or in the back parking lot. Jessica is very nice super friendly and easy to talk to. If you don't know what you want she can recommend something. Highly recommend calling all in your large and larger orders since she bakes small batches. Can't wait to go again when on that side to try other flavors and her iced cocoa. I'm giving 4 stars because it's not an utterly amazing experience, but what Jessica does she does great. I haven't tried the cheesecake but I've gotten multiple scones and they've been wonderful every time. I know a lot of people complain about the price, but the reality is everything is more expensive these days, so I really don't think it's bad. I'm happy to pay more for good quality and the ability to support a local business woman. read more

The iced coffee with cheese foam and oreo topping is divine and I highly recommend it. I really appreciate the ice cubes being frozen coffee so the drink doesn't get all watered down. I am not a huge fan of scones, but that all changed with the lilikoi scone, absolutely perfect. $4 for a scone seems a bit steep, but as a treat it hit the spot. We love the lillikoi scones! But all other flavors are good too. It's just that lillikoi is more special to us since we're from the mainland and don't have access to lillikoi on a regular basis. The owner is so sweet. I called to ask about their stock as it was about closing time. She said she only had three left and allowed us to put them on hold while we walked there. That was a much appreciated gesture as we are visitors to the island and that day was our only chance of getting some of their delicious scones. I enjoyed the lilikoi scone. Honestly they are more like biscuits than scones. Very dense and crumbly. Also tried the Japanese cheesecake which is waaay overpriced for a tiny slice. And it did not taste fresh, very dry like it had been sitting uncovered in the refrigerator showcase for a few days. It was the customer service for me. I got to talk stories with the owner. Spoke about the effects of the whole covid situation. As a business owner myself, it's pretty hard during a time like this. This is a small little cafe in kailua. Street parking is available upfront. I had ordered the scones. Lilikoi creamcheese, guava creamcheese and blueberry creamcheese. The creaminess from the creamcheese with lilikoi/fruit drizzle gave it a hint of sweetness on top of a scone cookie type. It was so delicious! Owner also offers crepe cakes. The scones are so delicious and the owner is so nice! Some of the flavors I tried are lilikoi cream cheese, guava, guava cream cheese, raspberry, blueberry lime, and lilikoi. I like the lilikoi cream cheese the most! I got there at 1pm so they had already sold out of the matcha white chocolate scone. Other flavors are chocolate chip and orange cranberry. They sometimes have pineapple coconut and will do special flavors for holidays. Will be back again for some onolicious scones! read more

Truth be told, there aren't a ton of great bakeries on the island, and for the bakeries we do have, very few sell scones. And for those that do, the scones are generally pretty mediocre, but you can't really blame them. Scones aren't something people go out of their way for they way they do donuts or malasadas. But the scones at Bits and Bites are worth going out of your way for. They focus primarily on making a good variety of scones in small batches, and they do it very well. The problem with most scones: too dry. Not here. They're moist but still retain that bit of crust and crumble that characterize a good scone. Another failing of scones in general: they all taste the same. Again, not here. There's a good variety of flavors, and they actually taste as advertised. We ended up getting the lemon, green tea, chocolate, and lilikoi, and they were all wonderful. My wife had to drag me out before I bought more. They have some tasty drinks as well. We ordered the jasmine green tea and lilikoi tea (great compliment to the lilikoi scone), which were very refreshing. Friendly service and cozy little shop. read more

The flavors are there and we'll balanced while the scones are heavy enough to be considered scones yet light enough to be delicious. Best scones I've ever had! And I've recently been wanting scones a lot and these were superb! My husband and I happened to waltz in around noon, didn't actually plan to come to Bits & Bites but saw it while walking around and just pooped in. All the showcases were empty and I was really sad as it appeared they were all sold out. The Owner came out and said she just had three scones left, blueberry, lemon, and lilikoi. We bought all 3 and I'm so glad I did. Each scone was flavorful and moist, so delectable and had me wanting more. Even my husband who doesn't care for scones, loved these. We also bought a lilikoi soda which paired so nicely. My only regret is we only bought one and I hated having to share. While talking with the Owner, she said she does about 20 different flavors and it's best to preorder online to guarantee your order. Organic, soft and tasty scones!! As a local place supporter, I was very impressed with this little place. The organic strawberry scone and blueberry scones were out of this world. Perfectly crusted on the outside combined with a smoothe and soft texture on the inside made for an exquisite little morning snack. The owner has a solid base of regulars in the area, but also gets lots of tourists from Japan. It's a small shop and because of current restrictions (2020) seating inside is unavailable.
