The Kitchen Sink with 7 meats and delicious peppercorn sauce

I love this place! Whenever we are in the city and want a late night sandwich, this is the spot, they are open until 2am! The ladies that work here are super cool. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is strictly a takeout spot, so don't come in expecting a table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You can call it in or order at the counter. They have menu boards of tons of specialty sandwiches and salads or you can build your own. Last time I got the New Yorker pastrami, yum! My guy usually orders the Kitchen Sink that even though it comes with 7 meats, it's actually quite good, and the peppercorn sauce that comes on it is amazing. They also have a deli case with pasta salad, potato salad, whole roasted chicken you can buy, and a jar of giant pickles we always partake in. I appreciate that they are open at a time when all the other options are pizza. Check them out for your late night BITE!

I usually love Bite it's one of my go-to spots for a quick lunch, and the Cowboy Melt is always solid. That said, today I found a full chicken bone in my sandwich... definitely caught me off guard. I'll add pics because it was pretty surprising. Not trying to be harsh since I genuinely like this place, but hoping this was just a one-time mistake and something they tighten up going forward. I'd still come back, just a little more cautious now

It's been so warm and sunny lately, so I decided to walk home from work. My plan was to grab something simple near home, but the scent from this sandwich spot stopped me in my tracks. While checking out their long menu, I couldn't decide what to get, so I asked one of the staff which sandwiches were the most popular. She said the Gouda Good and the Gobbler. I went with the Gouda Good and the Gotti. Gouda Good The bread was a bit stale, and overall the sandwich was just okay. I wouldn't order this one again. Gotti Served on a sourdough roll with a nice chew. The flavor was really good, though they were a little heavy on the mayonnaise. Not a deal breaker though. Overall, I think this place has potential. The prices are great, and I'll definitely give them another try. Hopefully, I'll find my favorite soon.

I've been eating at bite for 4 years I used to go with my old fling every weekend 2022 faithfully she stayed off post st. She actually showed me this place a lot of great sandwiches and memories. Today was absolute worst experience I've ever had I'm not coming back inflation is real I thought i could understand that but I used eat half my sandwich that the women with glasses would always make them. It used to be a great transaction this was the smallest and yet most expensive meal I've ever had from them they had a new guy working trying to tell me it's always been that way. Sir! your new it used to be 2 hard working women making those great portioned sandwiches one being the one I saw today. No exaggeration half the sandwich was just as big as a Bic lighter. How dare you try to play me like i haven't been there before I remember what used to be. Insane lost a customer today. You're better off getting the ingredients off the menu and making it yourself.

Pretty much a 50/50 chance your food will be prepared well. I order from a delivery app and it's always a speedy delivery, which I appreciate!Sometimes I order and it's good and than sometimes I order and it's inedible. I typically go for a Caesar wrap and have them substitute chicken for avocado. (Sometimes they do it sometimes they don't). The Caesar wrap I got tonight fell into the inedible category. It's like the cook put the entire bottle of Caesar dressing in the wrap. I took two bites and had to take the wrap apart and try to get some of the dressing out of it.Disgusting! At that point, I realized it was a lost cause and threw it out. I hate wasting food and money! I wish their cooks were more consistent, because when it's good it's really good! read more

They have great sandwiches here. It'd take a very long time to try them all given how big the selection is, plus you can build your own if there's some particular combination you fancy. They have a bunch of rotisserie chickens on the go whenever you walk in (which I believe you can buy whole too), and there are a large number of sandwiches that make use of the chicken. The Gouda Good, Moshe Moshe, and My Ex are all really tasty examples. I've had a couple of others like the Gotti (not chicken) which I'd recommend too, but honestly I think you can't go wrong picking pretty much anything on the menu. I love the fact they're pretty much always open and (for SF) not super expensive. Sandwiches are a good size and they sell San Pellegrino soda if you're feeling fancy. read more

they are stealing money, don't order from them, the only payment is online, and the order is not delivered, i'm not sure is this happens to everyone or just me, I live in bad area, so probably they just avoided it. Went for a weekend to San Fran with my son for my birthday in February. I swear we couldn't find any good food while we were there for the weekend. Then we found this spot my son loved it and it still talks about this spot till this day. Tried this place while in San Fran. Great quick bite, good price, good sandwiches. Their rotisserie chicken looked amazing which is why I decided to get a rotisserie chicken sandwich. I had My Ex it was good but I'm not a fan of dijon mustard and it had that flavor. It was different because it had cranberries and walnuts which u didn't mind. My husband had their popular sandwich Gouda Good also with rotisserie chicken and added jalapeños which gave it a great kick, LOVED IT. Was in the area today with my classmates and we all decided to go here for lunch! We were a on a time constraint so I was a little worried that it would take a while for them to make all of our sandwiches (there was about 8 of us) but suprisingly all of our sandwiches came out super quick so I was very happy about that! The staff here are also very friendly! Now on to the good stuff... I ordered The Sleeper on dutch crunch with everything on it. It was sooooo good! I loved every bite!! The crunch on the bread was perfect and everything about the sandwich was delicous! I enjoyed my meal so much that I ended up eating the whole thing. Tried em out for the first time today. Love the great variety of creative sandwich choices they have there. I wanted to see what everyone was talking about so I ordered the Gouda Good. And they weren't lying, it was good. Its fresh rotisserie chicken, smokey Gouda on some Dutch crunch with an amazing creamy sauce. Man, that sauce was everything! This review is for a takeout order. Delivery experience was A-OK; food arrived a little before estimated time, all items were included, no spillage, warm items weren't cold, etc. Unfortunately, Quality of food was disappointing... My order was Vegetarian Bite sandwich, Turkey Club wrap and "Soup" (rolled the dice on this one, heh). Vegetarian sandwich wasn't great, which is disappointing since it's the only veggie option on the menu. The hummus+avocado combo didn't do it for me; I would have preferred doubling down on either one (Hey, this would effectively *double* the veggie alternatives on the menu!). Roasted peppers+sun dried tomatoes are both very flavorful on the sweet spectre and collided taste-wise. Same goes for canned mushrooms+hummus, both sorta acidic and again taste collision. I would recommend making your own vegetarian sandwich. (Hint to the sandwich makers; you may be carnivores, but I still expect you to dog-food your veggie options util you find them satisfactory.) Turkey club wrap was pretty good; granted I felt like I was mostly eating turkey and cheese. "Soup" turned out to be Clear chicken soup. From a can. (Could tell from consistency of carrots and the concentrated chunk of flavor stuff at the bottom). Maybe my experience was a one-off, but the food I got didn't live up to what I expect 4.5 stars to be. read more

I got their chili but it was quite bad. It was bland, had no salt, and it was just not chili. They should have just removed it off their menu if they were running low. One of the best sandwiches I've had in the city. I originally ordered there for a quick last minute lunch -- mainly because sandwiches are easy and because Bite is located so close to my home -- and my boyfriend and I were not disappointed! I ordered the Day After Thanksgiving and my boyfriend got Vinny's Bag of Doughnut and we each loved our sandwich. They come cut in half and they're huge! The ingredients are delicious and they seem fresh enough. Definitely filling. The staff on site were very polite and efficient. I was hungry and I decided to have something healthy since it's so late at night. My boyfriend drove me all the way from Colma to downtown because we noticed that Bite had some really good reviews. We have to say it did NOT disappoint. We ordered the Cobb salad and the Caesar salad with chicken including two drinks, all this add up to $29. The dressing for both the salad was what stood out. We finished both the salad and it was big portions too! We would definitely make the 30 minutes drive again for their yummy salad ! read more

This used to be my go to spot for sandwiches but not so much anymore. Ive been going here well over 10 years and never ever had an issue here until lately. The last few times ive ordered her my order always gets messed up. I dont make crazy complicated orders i always ask for no pickles and no mustard on my sandwich. Imstead every single time the workers always manage to give me everything i request not to be on my sandwich. Are they not writing this down as i order wtf? On top of that my sandwich at times comes back soggy and wet. I live like 3 blocks away how is my sandwich so wet when i order in store while waiting for my food. The sandwich was so bad and soggy i winded up throwing most of it away. I hope they get the quality control back otherwise i need to find a spot for sandwiches in the area and i dont want to have to go to Ikes. read more

I feel like sandwiches are a hard thing to perfect because people like their sandwiches all different ways. I personally see the inspiration behind this restaurant but it's not my style. The sandwiches are drowning in sauce. Seems like a place you would go while intoxicated for a quick bite. Even the guy before me in the lineup made a comment on how much mayo there was. It's overwhelming for sure. Well, today I found myself at St. Francis Hospital. Not as a patient, but I lasted through several mealtimes as a "project manager" for the care of a friend... and found myself in grave need of sustenance within a few blocks...! :::::Yelp App to the rescue::::: A quick trot over to Bite, and I returned with a KILLER, huge hot sandwich. Popped in (no seating, just takeout) ordered swiftly (the Moshe Moshe with rotisserie chicken, cheese, pickles, the works!) and a red lentil soup. Was on my way in about 5 minutes with a freshly made sandwich, hot soup and surely more faith in humanity. Nothing like being at a hospital to appreciate the fine efficiency of a sandwich shop. GOOD LORD! Standout: the bread. The perfect balance between crusty/chewy. Perfect. I recommend the white roll. Truly big enough for 2 meals. Give me access to a solid rendition of Dutch Crunch bread and I'm a happy girl. But offer me the opportunity to satiate my late night sandwich craving should I have the hankering? Now that's an ace move. I've only had one sandwich from the many options on the menu board, but The Gouda Good has captured my heart. And rightfully so - the sandwich is expertly layered with rotisserie chicken, smoked gouda cheese, and pepperhouse sauce on Dutch Crunch which I then enhance by adding jalapeños, onions, lettuce and s&p. Good on Bite for making their prices affordable (most sandwiches cost about $9) and staying open until 1:30am x 7 - now you can get a sandwich just as good as Ike's, but pretty much anytime you want it! read more

We came in again and tried a couple other sandwiches. Branding Iron: Roast Beef, Bacon, Horseradish, Cheddar, and BBQ Sauce. An excellent choice if you like Roast Beef... always works well with horseradish and BBQ. and I went off menu with a build-your-own. I liked the way the Gotti sounded. So I used it as inspiration to create... A Mortadella, Salami, Hot Coppa, Provolone, Garlic Aioli, with lettuce, tomato, onion on Soft Roll. I always prefer soft rolls with 'Italian' sandwiches. The garlic aioli is nice and can see how that would work on the Gotti, but I wasn't in the mood for artichoke. I like adding Hot Coppa when I see Mortadella on a sandwich. And this sandwich did not disappoint. Bite continues to be a great place to keep in your sandwich rotation. read more

Are you kidding me. I ordered the Gotti and was presented with thick slices of fresh sourdough heaped with mortadella, ham, salami, provolone, and marinated artichoke hearts - all glistening with oil and vinegar. Service was quick (counter service only) and the sandwich was superb. While wolfing it down, I could only think of my favorite Liz Lemonism: "I believe that all anyone really wants in this life is to sit in peace and eat a sandwich." Our bread is made every morning and delivered to us from the Italian District right here in San Francisco. We also choose to use Boar's Head meat for our sandwiches because Boar's Head has the same philosophy as we do here at Bite: only use the finest quality ingredients available, using no filers, gluten, artificial colors, flavors, or trans fats. We also choose to use Saag's sausages because of how they source their meat, always choosing local suppliers when possible and never using pre-ground meat. We wouldn't make our sandwiches with anything you wouldn't want to put on your table. Our whole chickens are anti-biotic free, fed a vegetarian diet, and delivered to use fresh every morning in time for us to put them in our rotisserie oven.

Asking for it verbally is a red flag for how they're handling (or storing) customer payment data. On top of that, the location was too busy for me to just park and order in person instead. I really wanted to try the food, but I'm not comfortable giving out full card details over the phone to a stranger, and I don't think other customers should be asked to either. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the presentation. I ordered the Mediterranean Bowl with Greek chicken. The chicken was dry, and it was obvious the seasoning had been sprinkled on after it was cooked instead of being cooked into the meat. I also ordered the Brussels sprouts and fried cauliflower. The Brussels sprouts looked perfectly crispy, which is exactly how they should have been, but they were soft and soggy instead. To make matters worse, the sauce was packed inside the same container, so the steam made them even soggier while also heating the small plastic sauce container inside. The fried cauliflower was equally disappointing. It looked crispy because of its golden brown color, but there wasn't a bit of crunch. Instead, it was oddly firm, almost al dente, making it feel more undercooked than fried. I also tried the garlic chicken soup, expecting something similar to Avgolemono. Instead, it was a thin, watered down broth with the same dry chicken pieces from the Mediterranean Bowl tossed in. The pita bread served with it was honestly the worst part of the meal and the only thing I threw away. Nothing was completely inedible, but for more than $60 worth of takeout, I expected food that matched the clean, inviting atmosphere of the restaurant. Sadly, this experience fell well short of that, and it's not a place I'll be returning to.

He raised his voice for all the diners to hear about my allergies, told me I couldn't get any pizza, and when I pointed out that there were options, he told me "I'll triple check if this is possible for you." When he came back and confirmed it was possible, he tells me they can do a gluten free pizza with vegan cheese and vegan pepperoni. It felt like the moment he heard 'gluten' and 'dairy,' he mentally categorized me as 'vegan' and stopped looking for ways to make the experience enjoyable. Yikes! Lol I fully recognize - girl, why did you go to a pizza spot with a gluten and dairy allergy? Yes I am not okay for this hahah but also I felt pretty embarrassed and treated really poorly. This experience doesn't reflect Tony's as a whole, but it was just a terrible interaction and that waiter made it real clear that he has no patience for anything that is inconvenient during his work shift.

I have lived in the neighborhood for about 5 years- which means I have enjoyed lots of bite over the years. Unfortunately I think something has changed recently. I've had a couple bad experiences. The customer service is always friendly so that is the only reason I would maybe go back. A few weeks ago I waited in a huge line to get a sandwich and when I got home about after 30 minutes of waiting, I got home but realized they gave me the wrong sandwich. So I went back down and waited again for the sandwich- which was made properly that time. Last night about midnight I was just getting off work and I was so excited to have some bite. I ordered my usual sandwich and enjoyed it when I got home. Went to bed around 3am and woke up at 7 with the worst food poisoning of my life. I am unable to move from my bed unless it's to violently vomit in the bathroom. It's now almost 1:30 and I have not stopped vomiting every 30-45 min. I think people in the food industry should realize they have people's health at stake. This is the worst because I trusted that the business is doing everything they can to be safe. I don't know if the meat was out too long or if they didn't use gloves when handling the raw chicken in the rotisserie which can cross contaminate other foods. I don't think I'll be able to stomach another sandwich from this place :( read more

Edit: I have been going here consistently for the past few years and haven't had any other issues, so I'm bumping my review to 5 stars :) I live nearby, so I go to Bite a lot. The sandwiches here are, most often, awesome. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because it's a little inconsistent. Usually the sandwiches are massive and packed with stuff, but other times they're very mediocre. I also avoid the Moshe Moshe now because I've found small bones in the rotisserie chicken on two separate occasions. Apart from this though, this place really is great. I particularly like the Sleeper, especially made in a wrap instead of on the soft roll. Other favorites are the Gigolo, the Love Affair, and the Napa. I tried their Chicken Caesar Salad and that was great as well, though a little over-dressed. All in all, I'd highly recommend you check this place out. Prices are reasonable, about $8-$10 a sandwich. They're open until 2 am, so if you're looking for some grub after a night out at Polk, look no further. read more

I live across the street and I was so pleased to see this adorable little sandwich place so close. They have a huge selection of food and choosing something to eat is quite an exciting task as there are just so many options, and they all sound so good. Some things on the menu are definitely better than others. So far all the sandwiches I've had here have been really yummy, but the one wrap I've had (the Bleu plate) just had such an overwhelming amount of lettuce in it. I know that this seems such a strange thing to remark on, but I know I'm not crazy as the other person I took here also mentioned there is just so much lettuce in the wrap. I often have to take some of it out before eating it but by then, its usually quite a skinny and pathetic looking wrap. What isn't lettuce inside of it tastes so damn good though, so maybe if you could cut down on the lettuce and put more of that other stuff in... read more

Not sure why this says they are located in the TL, because they definitely are not. Lower nob hill is where they are.... Anyways, Ive managed to live on this street for 4 years now so bite is pretty much my go to when I'm tired, hungry, and want a bomb sandwich to fill me up. Also they are open late so that's nice after a night out to pick up, or hanging out watching movies in. I get the Avenues.... EVERY TIME. But they have a fierce selection to choose from and you really can't go wrong here. Never had a complaint the staff is pretty decent,you go in order, get your sandwich and a lollipop and you leave. Easy. They are kind of pricey for a sandwich joint, but there is so much deli meat and good ingredients so I know I'm paying for quality. You can buy meat and cheese here too haven't yet but more than likely will someday! read more

I just love this place. It has such good sandwiches and I can always call them on short notice and have one in 10 minutes. The My Ex is a particular standout and my regular. It has rotisserie chicken, walnuts, cucumbers, house sauce, cranberries and more. It's just unbelievable how good it is. When I first moved to the area I thought it was insane they were charging 10 dollars for a sandwich, but after a few trips I saw it was flat out worth it. Their chocolate chip cookies are pretty amazing too. The only bad thing I have to say is skip their wraps. I've tried the chicken ceasar A few times and it's pretty terrible. Still, the sandwiches are so good it almost doesn't matter what else is on the menu. You owe yourself a trip if you're in the area late night. read more

The Bite in SF is a sandwich lover's dream! I tried both the Cowboy Melt and the New York, and honestly, I was impressed with each. The Cowboy Melt is gooey, smoky, and perfectly toasted--the cheese and sauce blend together so well it's like a flavor explosion in every bite. You can't go wrong with the Mama Mia, but then again you can't go wrong with any of their sandwiches, coming from the la area I was always told how good the food was in San Francisco, in reality once you are up here you truly realize how great their food is and how crappy the food you use to eat was lol, not to say La doesn't have some great good locations but San Fran takes it to another level read more

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE EVER. I have been hospitalized since I ordered here. I ordered a chicken cedar wrap and started getting severe stomach pains and horrible horrible pains and body aches, fever, chills and threw up for 5 hours until I was admitted to the ER. They DID NOT FULLY COOK THEIR CHICKEN. NEVER order from here and avoid the ER. read more

I just had a spectacular sandwich today at bite's. I got the honey roasted turkey breast with avocado, tomato, and lettuce on a soft sourdough roll. Amazing! Next time I want to try the Italian. Service was great, quality was awesome, and prices were very reasonable. Highly recommended read more

I have to edit my review. While I still stand by my proclamation that Bite has the best sandwiches in town, I need to tell Vegetarians to stay away. At $9+ for a cheese and veggie sandwich, this is highway robbery. Seriously, its a crime. read more
