We just finished hookah at a spot nearby and was craving a late night snack attack. A friend found this place on yelp and saw it was open late. We ended up ordering the Kitchen Sink and Gouda Good. The Kitchen Sink had several layers of meat with onions tomatoes and an awesome olive oil sauce which felt really balanced. Eating this alone would've been an instant food coma. The Gouda Good was served with chicken, which was moist / not dry, and Gouda. I felt it was slightly bland but the way the chicken tasted made up for it. I like sandwiches and being in SF for the next couple of weeks, I have been exploring. Normally when I'm here I'm eating a lot of Chinese food. I love it. But I guess I been craving the sandwiches... this place is pretty cool. I had the Rueben sandwich on the menu it's something else... but I can't remember... it's a corned beef sandwich... good. I don't really like onions and especially not tomatoes... but I ate them anyway and it was good. The sandwich was fat and messy and I like that in a sandwich. It allows me to see how well I don't fuck up my shirt. I was wanting the meat ball one... and was tempted.. still might have to try it. What I need to find now is a good French dip sandwich. I normally go to Bite pretty often to get a sandwich or salad but not anymore. I ordered the Marakesh salad tonight and as I was eating I found a worm/slug in my salad. Ordered the Napa (turkey, brie, chipotle aioli) for $10.50. based on the reviews I lucked out with the wait time, which was about 10 min total on a Wednesday afternoon at 130. The service was fantastic - friendly and quick. The price seemed a bit much to me but it is a huge sandwich so I only ate half anyway, leaving basically another meal. The space was cute and to the point - small but seating outside. I think the sandwich would've been better with a different cheese, the brie was a strange choice. Called in for a Gouda Good and a Gotti. They ran out of the default breads so I requested for wheat for the Gotti and sweet for the GG. They both ended up w/ wheat. Asked for no lettuce on the GG and they still slapped it in. I'm not a fan of mortadella so I requested for a substitution of more salami. Ended up w/ the mortadella anyways. Chicken for the GG is dry but the sauce helps out. Average size sandwich for about $10 each. Yay for late night hours. read more

I was craving a sandwich so I came to this small shop in the tendernob area for lunch. The place has a nice seating area outside, but a tiny interior. The place could maybe comfortably hold 8-10 people so on a busy day, don't plan on being able to eat at the store. The interior of the store has a nice layout and lots of menu options ranging from salads to wraps to sandwiches. They have customizable options and options for vegetarians as well! I ended up ordering the Gobbler which is essentially a turkey club on Dutch Crunch bread. Though there weren't that many people there (maybe 5), it took them a long time to get my food out (15 min) and the lack of AC in the building made it a very hot wait. Once I got my order though, everything about the place got much better. The sandwich was huge and was actually loaded with filling, unlike the misleading subway sandwiches. Also the Dutch Crunch bread lives up to its reviews on Yelp! While the food deserves 5 stars for sure, I felt compelled to take a star for the service this time around. I built my own, since I wanted to add avocado and sprouts and paid extra for both - but when my sandwich came it didn't have the avocado, sprouts, or the cheese. Its crazy this place is open so late because you usually think fast food, pizza, diners, but never do you think of a yummy fresh sandwich spot that is more appropriate for a lunch time spot. Midnight - Thursday night. After a nice night at the nearby hookah bar, we were starving and looking for any place that was open late. There were a few spots open, but mostly places serving alcohol - the local sushi bar seemed more like a nightclub at this time from the reviews (although I will stop in there soon). Luckily for us, Bite was 0.1 miles away from us, so it was an easy decision. Walk up a couple 'steep' hills (these out-of-towners don't know what a steep grade is). We were having trouble deciding because we wanted everything on the menu. Eventually we went with the Kitchen Sink and the Napa. The Napa has cracked pepper turkey, brie cheese (!!!), chipotle aioli, lettuce, tomato, and onion on sourdough. The Kitchen Sink has seven types of meat (wow.), pepperjack and horseradish cheddar cheeses, artichokes, and peppercorn sauce on dutch crunch bread. They didn't have Dutch Crunch bread which was a huge negative - -1 star for this. We wanted it for both sandwiches because I was talking about Dutch Crunch all day to my friends from out of town, only to learn that Bite had ran out of it. Come on guys, this is the local specialty - you should have more than enough. We didn't show up at last call either. Severely disappointed. Other than that, things were outstanding. Gives Ike's and Lou's a run for their money (although a touch more expensive, you get a slightly bigger sandwich as well. They have full size pickles for $1.50 which were both crunchy and juicy (4 star - nothing beats a NY pickle), and the coleslaw was above average, the right blend of sweet and sour and not overpowering the sandwiches. I would definitely come back for other sandwiches, as there are 10 other ones that I need to try. Too small to eat in - get it to go and enjoy elsewhere. They should have shut the door and we would have had an opportunity to go next door, which was open. We stopped by here because we heard the sandos were good. They were okay. Definitely not worth the crappy service we got from the lady in the headscarf behind the register. Had to wait about 10 minutes before she even acknowledged us and she didn't even get my order right! It's not like I had the most complicated thing; Cowboy Sandwich -add jalapeños. And the pickle I ordered? Nope. She couldn't be bothered to grab that either, and probably would have let us forgot about it after she walked away. Fortunately the nice dude making the sandwiches grabbed it after I came back and asked for it. I'm not the type to write up a bad review, even if the experience was crap, but we came in super polite and thanked her twice and got the cold shoulder each time. I ordered a Gouda Good Sandwich with out mayo, mustard and pickles. Pretty straight forward one would think. I got home and unwrapped my $12 sandwich, which is fine when I get my order the way I ordered it. What I got was a sandwich only chicken, lettuce, tomato and onion. No gouda cheese or pepper sauce. When I got home I had to add my own cheese and sauce. Of course I didn't have pepper sauce, so I had to make due. I've been coming here for years. I won't be back again ever.
