Love the local dives with their decor that reminds you of the 90s and beyond. You feel the history and the sense of community from all the photos of the locals. The pub food here is good! Freshly fried, well seasoned and lines the belly before a couple of pints! We adored the service here. The waitress was so kind and attentive. Gave us what ever we needed even being the only group on the patio. Definitely make this your local pub. read more

Their food is even worse than the owners morals! Wings tasted 3 hours old, never going back

I've been here in person a lot and have enjoyed it. I like how they give you the option to have your wing order with only flats or drums. Game changer imo. I got delivery and they are a little far (about 24 min drive). So I worried a little about how the food would would taste due to the potential to get cold. But, I remembered that I order deli from about the same distance and even the fries are good from that distance so I hoped I'd be ok. Keep in mind the following is a review of the restaurant as being able to provide decent delivery (for the most part). It's also been a couple years since I dined in. I can say the fries were warm enough to get the gist of what they would've been like fresh and they probably would've been decent. But, I had to throw most of them out because they quickly cooled to the point where they weren't edible. The Jalapeño poppers were decent but also too cold to be really outstanding. They also seemed like fresh they would've been tasty. The wings were also decent but by the time I got to them they were pretty cold. However, you could tell they were quality and probably would've been good hot and fresh. You could blame the delivery guys. But, in my honest opinion, the heat of the food could've been a lot better if they packed the food better. The containers they use are just cardboard with a lot of free openings and space for the heat to escape. The deli I mentioned packs the food much better. They need to improve their ability to get the food to the customers hot, fried food demands it. Or if they can't they need to really restrict the areas they offer delivery to. Not really happy with the meal. Took a risk and it panned out negatively. Also, they forgot the wing dipping sauce and napkins. A good amount of napkins is kind of a must. It's not cheap as it came close to $55. So that also factored into the lower score. read more

I walked not only did get greeted once but three times. Very friendly staff. I order my food at 7:15pm and the guy said it was going to minutes but I got my food in 1 minute. Great wing and the place was very clean. read more

Glad to have tried this restaurant! I enjoyed the Cajun dry rub with the bistro sauce. The wings are not heavily breaded and is smaller in size. 100 wings for $100 can feed a family of 6/7. The other flavours were good as well! The honey bbq and bbq was not too saucy or sweet either. This restaurant may get a lot of orders during UFC nights, so call ahead. I look forward to ordering from them again! read more

The wings and fries are delicious. Great place to catch a sports game. Nice lively atmosphere.

Best wings in the city. Delicious dry rub & not too sweet honey & garlic. Worth the drive from downtown to uptown. Super friendly.

Fantastic little place originally just south of its current location on Avenue just south of the 401. Wonderful choices of food but we love the wings. Consistently sized... large... and tasty. Give it a shot. read more

Classic on the classics for chicken wings and beer. Lots of other choices too, but you can't go wrong here! read more

Bistro On Avenue - Chicken Wings Near Me - Toronto, Ontario

Terrible service and the wings are sub-mediocre with low-grade chicken and bland flavour. Don't bother.

My first visit to the new location was like losing an old friend. After being at the south Avenue road location for more than two decades, I really had no idea what to expect. Sadly, although the wings are as good as ever, the new location has no atmosphere, decorating out of the 70's that has no bearing on this being a neighbourhood pub. It's just horrible. It's also way to big. That the place was empty...I was the only one in the left hand section of the old Italian restaurant...is an indication that things may not work here. read more

This place is still good, the chicken wings are still scrumptious and the fries with the creamy fill dip are delicious! The onion rings were a little disappointing, but mostly because they didn't taste like fresh onion rings, more panko-esk with really thick outside (which I did not love). Service was average at best, our waitress was not particularly attentive (which was surprising considering we were eating a geriatric dinner and the place was empty). The ambiance is not as cute or "bar/tavern-y" as the old place was, but there is a lot more seating now read more

The bistro has grown! It is now offering deli. Stern's Deli has joined Bistro on Avenue to offer up two favorites. it Is GREAT. We recently ordered a platter of deli and a platter of wings with all the fixings 'delicious' and presented beautifully. We also had coleslaw, potato salad, pickles, and rye bread. Everything we needed we were able to get from stern's deli/bistro on avenue. Centre St deli guided Stern's Deli so if you like Centre st deli you will love Stern's Deli. Welcome to the neighborhood Stern's Deli! read more

Food and service was terrible. My husband and I were both very sick from undercooked chicken wings. Steer clear of this restaurant

Have enjoyed Bistro wings for about 15 years, mainly take out. New location fine but last 2 times I have eaten wings and have been disappointed. Wings are a little too well done and my absolute favourite honey garlic sauce recipe has changed. I always order an extra sauce to dip my wings and fries in. It used to be mouth watering and delicious. I would eat it all. Now it a thick dark sauce, no longer Bistro recipe. May go to a St Louis location next to see if they too changed the sauce. Likely will not be back but my family likely will. read more

Just ok wings. Sizing wasn't anything to write home about. One person had a burger that was very underwhelming. Totally naked, not even mustard. Not a huge selection of beers either, esp if you want a lower carb option. I prefer Drums N Flats a few doors south! read more

The air fried chicken wings, was just as good if not better than the real fried chicken wings! The original St. Louis Bar and Grill location! read more

I've only ever eaten wings here so I can't comment on any other menu items. But I can say with certainty that they are my favourite wings anywhere. I order medium and they come crispy and delicious. I suppose there are other sauces that are good, or more or less heat, but once I found what works for me I'll stick with it. As with everything else these days prices have continued to increase but it's still well worth the cost. Service is good and new location is roomier and more comfortable than the place farther south. read more

The Bistro On Avenue Road is one of those Classic Wing joints. Originally it was the Bistro on Avenue along with St.. Louis Bar & Grill. They both had the exact same recipe for their wings. St. Louis Bar & Grill took off and expanded across Ontario. The Bistro on Avenue kept to its roots and made wings better than ever! Highly recommended! read more

They have the best wings in toronto. No doubt. I ised to live here in canada about 3 years ago. I now live in california. To this day, i have not found a single resteraunt with better wings than bistro. read more

It's still as good as ever, but that was never more than 4 stars anyway. I didn't really think the 70s dive bar atmosphere of the old location was any good anyway, so I don't really see any change there. For those coming from St. Louis restaurants - the wings are identical in taste but bigger rather than the pigeon-sized wings you get at St. Louis, and you get plenty more fries and better specials. Basically - this is 1 step up from St. Louis Wings. read more

The chicken wings are awesome! The best, in my opinion. The dry hot with the regular hot sauce on the side is mouth watering! Delicious fries and the dill dip is super yummy! I also love how you can ask for no fries and you get extra wings! The atmosphere of this new location is a bit heart breaking, doesn't have the character of a little local pub like the old location did. The servers I have had are always nice and friendly too. If you just want delicious wings and fries, with nice service and don't care about the less then perfect atmosphere, then this is your place! read more

Bistro has been cooking up the best wings in Toronto for a long time now. Crowned as the "original" St. Louis Bar & Grill, Bistro takes its wings seriously. The "hot" and "suicide" sauces are mouth watering. Tuesdays have become a weekly gathering for a group of us, as the restaurant offers half-price wings every week (along with most other wing places on this same day). The new location is a bit odd, but the food has stayed exactly the same, so suck it up and go get your chicken wing fix. read more

A wing joint with a bit of history, this location was one of the owners original wing restaurants before opening the popular St. Louis bar and grill chain. The food is served similar style with dill sauce and wings that are nice and crisp. The feel is more pub/ bar feeling than a restaurant or bistro. The crowd is blue collar but it has a homely intimate feel with tons of regulars. The walls are covered in memorabilia and there are tvs up on the walls for watching sports so lots to see/read while you're there. The wings are some of the best in the city in my opinion. Some of the staff are a little quirky, had a waitress that called my fiancé and I by just boy and girl the whole service. 3.5/5 Go try the wings, great for a sporting event. Better for take away. read more

Consistent, quick, friendly staff and great wings! Best in the area! Decent size wings and the sauces are great too. Highly recommend!

These wings are delicious and much bigger then St.Louis wings which we immediately stopped going to after discovering this place! I always pre -order and last time I told the guy we got very little fries on our last order so he gave us a complimentary order! Very nice and was not expecting that at all. Great Service read more

The Bistro on Avenue used to be a few blocks south of where they are now. It was an intimate little place - a pub like atmosphere with probably the best wings in GTA at the time... Now, it has gone a bit high end, much brighter and obviously a newer decor. It lacks the "atmosphere" that used to exist at the old place. Small TV's to watch sports, not very strategically placed. On to the Service (I'll mention the food last). Service was decent. Sitting in the bar area, the bartender was the server. She was quite busy, but still managed to pay attention to everyone around her. I would give her a 4 out of 5. Food...biggest disappointment. Perhaps I have HUGE expectations having been a former regular customer of the old location in the 80's... Ordered standard Honey Garlic wings. Fries used to have more flavor - they tasted so plain now. Even the Dill Dip - which was one of the main reasons anyone would order fries there - seemed somewhat tasteless compared to how it used to be and compared to the same dip found at St. Louis which the owner founded. Onto the wings...the first order of wings came out tasting burnt and didn't have any sauce on them. After telling the bartender, they were replaced - honestly, they looked like someone just poured sauce over them - still tasted burnt, they weren't as meaty as they used to be at the old place and the sauce??? really didn't taste much like honey garlic. Did I eat them? sure. I kept hoping they would get better with each one - but they didn't. The only plus was the Pint was the right temp and drowned out the burnt taste. Would I go back? Of course - I would never right off a place with such history and reputation simply because of ONE bad experience. But, I would go with friends to confirm that my thoughts are feelings were either confirmed or refuted. Not sure what the rest of the place has to offer since I stopped in to catch the end of the hockey game and have a pint. read more

A pub with only "industrial" beer no craft beer. Nothing on menu but wings & ribs. Wings served with "coleslaw" which tasted like sauerkraut with mayo added YUCK. Server seemed to want to hurry us out...turns out she did it was end of her shift. Go across street to Firkin. A chain but way better than this poor excuse for a pub...a bistro--are you kidding! read more

While the wings were fine, TERRIBLE SERVICE. I'm eating there at 2:30pm on a Saturday. It's basically empty, maybe 3 other tables have customers at them. I look at the menu knowing that we made it just in time to order the lunch menu ($6 cheaper to get the exact same thing during lunch hours which ends at 3pm). I order from the wings menu and ask if I can have some of my wings spicy and some of them honey garlic. The waitress seems unsure, but says that she'll see what she can do. Next thing I know she brings out my wings and as I'm eating them.. I realize they're just ALL honey garlic. She never communicated or told me I had to choose one, and clearly just made the decision for me (I would have 100% asked for spicy ones if thats all I was going to get). So I was unhappy with my meal, but NO point did she come back to our table to check on us or see how things are, or to fill up our water (need I remind you that this place is near empty??), but I eat them because it's what's in front of me and I'm hungry. She only comes back once we're done to clear our plates, and when I remind her that I had asked for half and half she said "oh yeah they couldn't do that", and I had to explain to her that it would've been nice if she just told me that because I didn't want a WHOLE meal of honey garlic, which she half-heartedly apologized for... THEN we get the bill and to our surprise, instead of being $9.95 for each of our lunch meals, she charged us $15.95 for the dinner option. When we asked about the menu explicitly saying that lunch is from 11am-3pm, she said "oh.. yeah its different on weekends"...I Looked and Looked on the menu and NOWHERE DID IT SAY THIS. I do not appreciate getting ripped off, and if you're going to have special pricing rules that apply to special days THEN PUT IT ON THE DAMN MENU even in fine print or SOMETHING. But it was nowhere and for all I know she could've made up this new rule on the spot. So for a party of 3 who all ordered the same thing, we basically got surprise-charged $20 more than what we were expecting to have to pay, which does not seem OK. Although the wings were fine, this frustrating experience really left a bad taste in my mouth... Which is a shame because I really used to like coming to the Bistro (when it was at the old location). This was a first for me at the new location, but I will definitely not be coming back anytime soon.. read more
