The food was really good and the service was very friendly and accommodating. I ordered the greek salad with added chicken. The presentation was beautiful and had the taste to back it up. It was pretty busy, but we were able to be seated immediately without a reservation. I would love to come back when it is warm enough to dine outside. This is the perfect place to have a drink and dinner at the bar. It is just the right size, not too loud, not too crowded, and not too many TVs. We had a big group for dinner at one of the high top tables in the bar. The service was great and they had some quality beers on draft too. I had the filet for dinner and it was solid. Bistro suited us well but a little pricey for 2 salads, split the Gran Marnier soufflé which was very good, chocolate was also offered tonight. We went here on New Year's Eve with a large group, and they were more than accommodating. Our group ordered lots o' wine and we had a prix fixe menu, but with more than sufficient options. You got to pick an appetizer or salad and a main course. I got the Yellowtail with a terrific sauce, my daughter got the Lobster Ravioli, another got a great filet, my mom got the sea bass. A few others were ordered as well. They have an adorable outdoor area with a bar, tables and usually live music. We dined here a few nights ago. We were a party of 5. We are here from New York for a month. We were looking for a non chain steakhouse. I know this is not a true steakhouse but it was fantastic. I had the ribeye. One of us had the strip. Both were fantastic. We had been to Ruth Chris a bunch of times and I feel these were superior to anything I have had there. My wife had lobster ravioli that also was fantastic. We had muscles as an app the were delicious. The restaurant said the were in the process of changing the menu around as it was on paper. Everything we had was beyond our expectations. We will be revisiting during our one month stay. I only saw a 3 1/2 star rating. Maybe from poor reviews from years ago. The only thing I could complain about. Finding our way in. Yes. The front door and entrance was confusing. Silly thing but once your in you will be happy you found your way. read more

I want to update my review of Bistro that I wrote after our Mother's Day experience. While our original experience at Bistro for our Mother's Day meal is still disappointing, I must admit that I am very impressed with the way in which the proprietor, Declan, reached out to us, fully committed to remedy the experience we had. I think it takes a big person to issue a 'mia culpa' and then stand behind their words by issuing refunds on the children's meals. After being recommended by several friends, my wife and I decided to try The Bistro on the spur of the moment at 5:30 on a Friday night. We too were greeted warmly and immediately seated. They have a good selection of wines by the glass as well as a more comprehensive selection by the bottle. They also have a Prix Fixe menu until 6:15 which contains a selection of items from the regular menu, but cheaper. My wife was immediately put off by the $7 Sharing Charge posted prominently on the menu. We have found that we don't have room for full portions and have gotten used to sharing the entree along with a selection of appetizers. We ordered two glasses of Pinot Noir, the Wedge Salad, Spinach Mushroom Ravioli and the Veal Escalope. The wine was very good, but we were disappointed with the food. Presentation was nice, but both the Ravioli and the Veal were dry and less tender than we expected. Maybe uncharacteristic, but there are better places for the price range. read more

Made the reservation for my mothers birthday, and i let the restaurant know. They did nothing for her. The service was horrible. The waiter never came back to the table, had to ask for him. Plates came to the table with nothing in the sides containers. Had to get the manager to come over to get them filled. For desert, I had ordered the soufflé. While the rest of the table received their deserts, I never got mine and the waiter never came over to us. Finally after about 10 minutes, had to call the manager, and he was like. I'm sorry it fell in the oven. If he knew that, why not tell me when everyone else's came out. He knew it and no one came to tell me. When we got the bill they over charged us for the 3 fixed price menu. Was charge 50 per person. But menu says 39.99 plus add ons if u added. Again, we had to call the manager over and he said that was only for before 6pm. We told him that the waiter never said anything to us, and it is not on the menu. He took off the 3 drinks and my desert. Which he really didn't, because it was part of my dinner. Again, they did nothing for my mother for her birthday, even though i told them when I made the reservation and told the manager when he came to my table. Will not be going back. We go to The Bistro four or five times a year. This is the best "go to" restaurant in the area. We try other places but we always seem to go back to the Bistro where we know we will be satisfied with both the food and service. To begin with, it has one of the most pleasant and relaxing dinning rooms around. My martini's were perfect in size, temperature and presentation. All the food choices we made were excellent. The lobster ravioli and the soft shell crab that I ordered were perfectly prepared and presented. My wife's lamb chops arrived rare, just as she had requested and were succulent and properly seasoned. Both the chocolate and Grand Marnier souffle's we chose for dessert were not only beautiful to look at but delicious as well. I look forward to my next visit to The bistro. read more

perhaps we were late for dinner in the area people go to sleep at 9pm, we arrived at 8:15pm and the waiter seems annoyed already, I have a little dog with me so we sat outside, the courtyard setting is nice but I soon got bit by mosquito like crazy, 15 minutes later I asked the waiter to please turn on the fan, eventually I could enjoy my dinner without jumping all over, well I got 10 bites already! my husband ordered a fillet mignon and I ordered a veal entre, we both started with a salad and he had a glass of wine. The food tasted relatively bland and I do not think there is anything special would draw me back to this place, especially with a $92 bill including tax and tip plus 10 bites. It would seems a resonable price for their food if you eat before 6pm, get a 20% discount. We were the quests Karen H. invited to join them for Thanksgiving 'lunch'. Once seated we were reminded 2-3 times that we had 5 minutes to order before we would be charged 'dinner' prices. My wife & I were there for a while before figuring out where to 'check in'. The 'dinner' consisted of 5 (?) slices of 'rolled?* turkey breast, moist but quite salty w/ a small amount of gravy, sweet potato puree, a chunk of cauliflower & broccoli , & cranberries (on request). The pumpkin pie had to be 'store bought', I've seen a lot of home-made pies & that was not up to standards. Anyway, the setting was nice & the company excellent! Sorry Bistro, I wanted you to be great, A thanksgiving turkey dinner isn't rocket science, you can do better, especially for the price.After all it only comes once a year! I didn't even get a meal tonight from the bistro. After waiting an hour and 45min I left in an almost hunger rage. I live right next to this place, and it wasn't even busy. Plus it was reservations. I felt like I was on an episode of kitchen nightmares. Besides the dog party at chowder heads which is also horrid. I've been treated this way before, but decided to go again. Very disappointing. We took my mother for her birthday so our visit was a special occassion. The food was clearly warmed up. It was not made to order. The beef Wellington was heated in a microwave. There was steam when the pastry was opened and the pastry was very soggy. The chicken was not special. Crabcakes were also less than tasty. Drinks were good as were the dessert soufflés. Had a very lovely meal here recently ---the soufflés are especially fantastic. Our service was quite good and the food was very well prepared. It's a much older and stuffier crowd here and definitely a seasonal restaurant. I think the price point is way off the mark and perhaps if it were slightly less expensive they would have a better year round clientele. Went here last night for dinner. The wine list was wonderful, lots of by the glass options in addition to the extensive bottle list. The service was just how I like it, attentive and well-paced, but not trying to be your best friend. My water glass was always full. Bread in the basket was nice and toasty, the chicken liver pate was a nice touch. I had the beet salad, which came out just how I would have expected. Dinner was the mussels (daily special). These mussels were huge and served on the half shell topped with gigantic chunks of lobster. A seriously fantastic dish, I cleaned my plate! Coffee and key lime pie were also outstanding. I revisited this restaurant after about a year, and the food is definitely good. We love the french onion soup, the salmon, the way they present lamb shank. And the wine by the glass was very, very good. So good that I ordered a couple bottles of the same from the ABC liquor store---and I rarely drink. Their chocolate souffle is very good. I enjoy the pate that comes with the bread and butter before the meal. Their shrimp cocktail is a little disappointing and we prefer to buy our shrimp from Pop's (quite a drive but worth it). We made a few visits in the past couple months. It is expensive but I find that an appetizer and a drink is enough for me. My husband must order the onion soup, and we share it (I love the beef/veal reduction they use as the broth). I like the clientele, it is a place for grownups. Not that I don't love children, but sometimes it is nice to be with adults who enjoy fine dining. read more

What a pleasant surprise our visit to the Bistro was! My wife and I usually eat at the bar as we did tonight. We were greeted by Allison the bar tender. She was pleasant, polite and engaging. We are new to the area and Allison had plenty of great local tips for us. She also made a great martini. Allison made some suggestions and happily too my wife's custom order for a pasta dish. They start you off with a basket of fresh hot bread and a trio of butter, garlic and rosemary infused oil and the kicker, house made Pâté'. Delicious!! Our meal was delicious & well prepared. Salad fresh and crisp. We split the salad and it was still too much. Service was very attentive. One suggestion , we all ordered steak either tenderloin or strip, which was served on a white dish with 2 very starchy sides, both white, creamed corn and twice baked potato. Being a diabetic and into nutrition, 2 very starchy sides should never be served together at same time. A green vegetable (not starchy peas) would be more nutritionally appropriate. I called & asked if I needed to make a reservation with a Groupon & he said, "you need to make a reservation no matter what." But I still think he shouldn't answer the phones. It took at least 5 minutes to be greeted by a server. Warm bread with sample platter of pate, tapenade & butter was good. I really enjoyed the pate. He had beef wellington & I had lamb shank. Presentation was good, not great. The pastry of wellington was soggy & there were no mushrooms, onions or pate inside. Not what I would call a beef wellington at all. Plus the meat was edible to say the least. My lamb shank was cooked perfectly; meat falling off the bone with ease. But taste was bland. The brown sauce was quite boring. So were the mashed potatoes...very bland. I make way better mashed potatoes! Even with the Groupon, dinner with tax & tip was $60 (no drinks). Quite hefty for mediocre dishes & I couldn't imagine paying $90 full price for this! Server & busboy were slacking cuz our empty bread basket, condiment plate & extra silverware were never removed from our table. I give it 2 stars due to the beautiful ambiance on patio. Coconut trees & nice water fountain to drown out the traffic noise is really nice. Also, dogs are allowed at the patio so that was a plus cuz we take our puppy everywhere. They tried to seat us at some cave-like table in a dark corner. We refused and they did give us something by the fountain. But then some waiter accosted us, demanding did we have a reservation to entitle us to sit at that table. Really??? Ok, food,...poor. Salad with wilted greens. Turkey from a roll. Yellow snapper, unrecognizable. Only thing that I enjoyed was the gran Marnier Soufflé. Sort of liked Bistro in the past. Food varied. Sometimes good, sometimes not. Service can be snooty and attitudinal. Too bad. It's right down the road from us. BTW Happy Thanksgiving, Bistro. Plus for a supposed hi-end restaurant, your food was below diner.
