Perfect to go out with friends or even for a romantic date night We ordered the platter of 12 piece sashimi to start, WOW the FRESHEST raw fish I've ever had . We also ordered the beef short rib, OMG the meat just melted in your mouth definitely a must!!!!! We got some signature Maki which were so good. Hands down the best a la carte sushi restaurant I've been in MTL so far. We paired everything with a bottle of champagne, it was so delicious I cannot wait to go back It's abitt pricey but definitely worth it because everything is so fresh and good Hostess and waiter were all so friendly, we even got 3 different flavor ice cream mochis offered to us at the end of our dinner which we did not expect and they were amazing and so light Definitely a MUST this place, you won't be dissapointed.

We came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and it was a great experience…read more I already knew in advance that I would like the drinks as one of my fav bartenders, Harry, recently started working here. I have heard SO MUC about the food and the service that to be honest, there was only one option for how this night was gonna go (lol!) Now first off, may I say that, they already impressed me with the fact that they remember our resa was for a bday (there was a question about whether or not there is a reason or celebration when you boom online) Why am I impressed? Because not all restaurants actually pay attention to such details even though they ask the same things on their booking. Without a doubt, the food and drinks were amazing. The service was top notch! Yuri, Harry and the staff were just perfect. I dont need to say much more other than a big thanks for such a nice experience. I'm definitely coming back!

It might have been a stroke of bad luck, because the place was filled with a large birthday party,…read morebut this was hands down the *worst* service I've ever experienced. Ever! Nope, it wasn't actually bad luck - it was that they were understaffed for the event and the service at our table was the equivalent of abandonment. We didn't even get our menus for at least 20-25 minutes after being seated, and when we were finally able to order, our food didn't come for a very long time, almost to the point of us nearly walking out. In fact, the food came right as we were getting ready to leave. What this meant was that we sat staring at our glasses of water for an hour. Oh, they also have NOTHING to drink at this restaurant and I'm not just talking alcohol. It's a BYOB, which we didn't realize, but I would have been fine if they'd at least had some tea, juice or something, ANYTHING, to drink. Nada. Not one single thing. Staring at a glass of water, with an empty stomach, for an hour. Plus, our server couldn't care less. When our order did come, it wasn't our complete order - our server forgot to bring the rice that came with our flavourless tempura dish. The sashimi (we're talking basic slices of raw fish - no cooking required) took OVER an hour. That's a lot of knife sharpening... or something. Our server was not even remotely apologetic. Terrible experience overall, and the food was really not worth it. Definitely stay away from the tempura - really overpriced and tasteless.

As many have reviewed this spot, I also view this place as "acceptable"…read more It will be bang for your buck kinda style, so don't be disappointed if you were expecting too much. With the negativity out of the way, they offer a vast menu with a lot of choices to choose from. From salmon to yellow-tail tuna, they got you covered. Their sushi is great, and their fishes were yummy. Even though I gave this a three stars, it doesn't mean that I'm a detractor. I would definitely come back when I am in the north-shore and craving Japanese/Asian fusion cuisine.

Surprised to find they don't serve alcohol but luckily had some with us. We sat for a while enjoying our company and drinks only to realize 45 minutes had passed and we had only receive a green tea and some water. After waiting a few more minutes we decided they didn't value our business and left a $5 dollars on the table and walked out. Stopped by St. Hubert's and was served within 10 minutes. I would not recommend this place if you want to eat!

Very much enjoyed my meal here on a weekday last week…read more First of all, the atmosphere is great, very unique decor and the staff were extremely friendly. The portions are small so don't expect to order 1-2 and be full. Between two people, we shared 5 dishes and we probably could have ordered 2 more. We tried a variety of items off their menu including one sashimi and one fried dish. Everything tasted good, was fresh and had different flavour profiles. I wasn't a huge fan of the matcha cheesecake because I found that there wasn't enough of a cheesecake taste. It cost us each 25$ before tip which I find pretty reasonable. Overall, I would return and I look forward to trying more dishes.

Last full day in Montreal and our last meal was here! While I was figuring out which places I…read morewanted to check out ahead of my trip, I was most intrigued by their interior architecture. The walls appear as if they are sunken in, but the wood panels are just positioned in very interesting angles that make them look like a literal hole in the wall. We arrived for an early dinner, but luckily, we made it right on time for happy hour. It worked out so well, so we started the evening with drinks - Kyoto Cooler (sake, honey, grapefruit) & Yuzu Sour (shochu, yuzu, soda). Althpugh the drinks were presented nicely, they were not mixed at all! Everything we were interested in on the menu happened to be on the happy hour menu. Well, that worked out so perfectly! This is what we got: Toro Age, Tebasaki, Sake Wasa and Maguro Nudo. For value at happy hour, it was great to share these small plates, but they were not portioned enough to fill an appetite without spending a couple extra bucks. Since we were still hungry, we also ordered an item on the regular menu - Unagi Aburi. Portion was extremely small with thin slivers of torched freshwater eel topped with sliced almonds and tobiko caviar. I wasn't sure if the yuzu honey sauce on the plate made a difference, but there's a lot of sweetness in the dish itself. Our favorite was the tebasaki though. Fried to a golden crisp, the wings were juicy with a light soy glaze. We loved it so much, we ordered another plate and because it was on happy hour, I didn't feel too bad or wasteful ordering up. Overall, Kinoya was a fun place to visit for its novelty, but not a place I would find myself returning to. Actually, maybe for the wings, just the wings! The food didn't deliver as much as I had hoped and the portion to price ratio was a bit pricey for value to satisfaction. However, the happy hour deals are great and worth a visit!

Montreal…read moreseems to have many places for that compared to most of the US, so we were excited to try it and it did not disappoint. It was a bit of a wait to get in even on a Wednesday night in November as we did not have a reservation but they promptly seated us. There are two floors so it is crowded but spacious enough for plenty of food at each table. They have lots of sushi you can't even get at most sit down places in the US including lots of torched nigiri and roll options. The salmon don and ramen were great as well as were the desserts. The service was prompt and we ordered with an iPad. We tried some great sake too. The only complaint regarding service is they gave us a plate for another table but it happens. Would love to come back here again in Montreal as this may be the best of many AYCE sushi places but would love to try another one too. All in all, this was a wonderful last meal in this amazing city.

The food at K2 Sushi was actually pretty good, which is the only reason this review gets two stars…read moreinstead of one. However, the service was some of the worst I have experienced in Montreal. There is a male host/front-of-house staff member who is extremely rude and does not know how to speak to customers. He was impolite from the start, and the situation got worse as the night went on. We were a group of four. We placed our order and waited 30 minutes, only to find out that the restaurant had cancelled and thrown out our order. Meanwhile, we watched people who arrived after us getting their food. When we asked why we had no sushi, we were simply told, "Sorry, we lost your order, please order again." When our food finally arrived, the same rude host brought it to our table. He literally threw the plates down and walked away without saying a word. To top it off, they automatically added a tip to the bill, which felt aggressive considering how poorly we were treated. They did not deserve that tip. I do want to express out Rebecca, our waitress, need retraining, ande the male host completely ruined the experience. He is the reason I will never recommend this restaurant. You need to do better.

We put down our glass of water and someone is already there pouring in some more water!! I went here with a group of 18 people on September 24th 2016, and we all got served and left within 3 hours to go on our karaoke night. I highly recommend the lobster roll again, it's really my favourite. Since it was birthday, I took the liberty to choose the chef suggestions (I can't tell you which rolls I had, but I have pictures of a few). Again, the BYOW with the SAQ that is 30 seconds walking distance is really a + !! And I love their chocolate/Nutella fried bites with the ice cream, it's really amazing. The salmon sashimi is also very fresh. The curry udon was also very tasty. The curry soup is well made as it sits in the middle between a thin soup and not a heavy gravy.
