I've had two haircuts at Bishops done by Kasie and they both have been so great! Kasie is great at asking and answering questions to make sure the cut is actually what you want. Previously, it's been a struggle to find a local hair salon that is safe, not too expensive, and approachable. Bishops is all of that and the space is so sweet! I'm sad to have to update my review, especially as I rarely give 1 stars, but I recently had a super disappointing haircut. TLDR: I strongly recommend AVOIDING Donna. I called on a Friday afternoon around 2pm and they were great at getting me an appointment for 3pm. I arrived early, and, to my surprise, Donna (who has never cut my hair before) told me she was ready for me, around 2:30pm. She was in the middle of coloring someone else's hair. I mention this, because I think it affected her attention to my haircut. I asked to have my hair shorter on the sides but longer on the top, and even though I repeated myself several times, Donna basically barely gave me a trim. Additionally, she would just suddenly stop cutting and start to take off the cape, without asking me if I was happy with the haircut and without showing me the back. I had to ask her THREE times to go back and shorten the sides and the front. Each time, she would do a little trimming, and then stop and try to remove the cape, without checking in. In the end, I was so exasperated and tired of trying to get her to fix my haircut when she clearly didn't care, that I gave up. She still never rotated the chair to show me the sides or back, never held up a mirror. I left and went to my car, looked at my uneven haircut in my car mirror and pondered whether or not to walk back in say something, but it didn't feel like it would be worth the effort. The other stylists in the salon were busy, and I simply did not want to deal with Donna anymore. I considered returning to the salon a different day to see Holly (my usual stylish) for their 7 day guarantee, but Bishop's is out of the way for me, and I was meeting my partner's parents that weekend, so I needed my hair to be fixed same day. Thus, I went home and cut my own hair. So, ultimately, I paid over $50 to feel stressed and unheard and then had to cut my own hair at home. Side note: I was unaware previously that they have a snacks and drinks area for free! I've generally only come in the morning when there is only one person in the salon, so I'd never been offered any refreshments. This time, I was offered a menu which was very kind. read more

For my next haircut I came across bishops - Fremont, I've seen Kasie twice now and both times they were nothing but kind, she was able to teach me so much about my hair and give me exactly what I wanted. I've had a bad experience with this place. I have been going to this store for years together and tipping handsomely every hair stylist who did my hair. One day I get stuck with something super urgent at work where I couldn't reschedule or cancel. These guys went out of their way to let me know they have blacklisted me to the extent of them calling me proactively to let me know that I missed my appointment twice which they find disrespectful. Can one believe a business calling a customer proactively to tell them they cannot make an appointment anymore. This is how they treat customers who go there for years together. They have have had problem with their hair stylists at least one that I know of who was asked to leave and who always gave me a very good cut. I don't know the owner of this store but if I did I would surely give them a call and complain about it. Don't ever make the mistake of missing an appointment or risk being insulted and black listed by their staff. Never going there ever again. read more

Update - June 22, 2025: Disrespectful and disorganized--avoid if you value professionalism I had hoped my previous experience was an outlier, especially after Jessica (the receptionist) called to offer a complimentary haircut from the manager, Casey, as a goodwill gesture. I appreciated the offer and called back today to schedule. However, the follow-up was even worse. While trying to find a time, Jessica disparaged the booking system, and after I requested a reply by Monday due to upcoming events, she became dismissive, spoke over me, and ultimately hung up. Bishops has not only failed to improve but continues to show disregard for customers' time and basic courtesy. Total mess. Don't bother if your time matters. I actually like the vibe at Bishops and the stylists I've seen have been solid. But the way this place handles appointments is a joke. Two cuts ago, I waited over 20 minutes past my scheduled time. No heads-up, no apology. Then this past Friday, June 13, they called me 30 minutes before my appointment--while I was already on the way--to cancel. Their excuse? They double-booked the slot. Seriously? This isn't a one-off. It's a pattern. Bishops clearly doesn't value people's time or run a reliable operation. Until they fix their scheduling chaos, I'm done. read more

Bri is the most talented hair professional I have ever had. I came in with a mass of dark blonde hair with grown out highlights and I wanted to get it to a bright blonde, but in a way that would grow out somewhat subtly. She instantly understood what I wanted and suggested a specific "airbrushing" technique to get the desired effect. I have notoriously thick, long, difficult hair but Bri worked meticulously through every single section to give it a Disney-Princess transformation. I wouldn't have believed it was possible to get the level of lightening with the natural blending that she achieved in just a single session, but she really works wonders. Bri is not only highly skilled with hair, she is also a kind and understanding person who genuinely cares about her clients' satisfaction. She has the sweetest soul and such integrity in the way she approaches her craft. We have a tradition in getting my kids hair done when we travel. A few years ago, we went to Bishops off Pine and got a great balayage dye job that we loved. Back to Bishops this time for a more ambitious color. Super easy to use online appointment system and able to book for the next day at the Fremont location. Our 12 yr old wanted the bottom layer of her brown hair bleached and dyed. I didn't realize what a huge job that was. Anna took it in stride and did great. 6 hours and $400+ later, our pre-teen is happy with cut and color. Anna's professionalism shined as she had to course correct the color more than once to get the beautiful honey color she finally achieved. Super fair price given the time and effort. I take great issue with professionals lying to clients and upselling to exploit their ignorance. I have a hairstylist I've worked with for years who was unavailable for a short period of time (the timing was unknown then), and asked friends for a recommendation on where to go to help me through this gap. A friend recommended Casey at this Bishops location. I made an appointment and explained I wanted to take a temporary break from color until I figured out what I wanted to do next, requesting a semi-permanent black. He suggested a demi-permanent N2, explaining it would be easier for me to lighten and go back to color this way. He was friendly, confident, and the expert I was paying to take care of me so I didn't question his redirect and was grateful for the assist. My hair looked great at the end of the appointment, and over the course of a few weeks that black faded to a strange brassy brown which is fine. I was able to go back to my stylist and I decided I wanted to go back to a silvery smoky color. We lightened, then toned, and got my tips to a gorgeous silver/grey. The rest of my hair had this very brassy rust color which we are having to cover with a dark amethyst grey to compensate. We're now mitigating what seems to be a natural dye, and what also seems to be a permanent dye that was developed to go on as a demi-permanent. When we applied a purple silver, the bronze turned green, that was the giveaway. It already looks much better, but I'm now having to do extra steps (which adds unnecessary time and processing and could have been prevented) to get to where I want to be. My stylist asked if Casey used a natural dye, I have no idea. I wish I knew about the differences prior but this isn't my industry, and she's right I shouldn't have to know these things to this granularity when I explicitly explained what I wanted and what I'd be doing in the future. Also for those who didn't know like me, my asking for a semi-permanent dye when I knew I'd go lighter again was correct and is a better choice than demi. I'm livid, I trusted this person who smiled to my face and said they'd take care of me, and happily charged me a lot only to cause this problem. If anyone learns anything about color science and it helps them dodge similar problems, at least it'll save them from having to go through so much correction like we're having to do. I was unable to provide my stylist with exactly what he used but she was able to get me close to where I want to be. It seems like Casey felt like giving my stylist and I this problem since he knew I'd be a one time customer with him. I don't know if this is a reflection on Casey alone or if this is a widespread practice at Bishops, but it's a huge problem. Your stylists represent your business and this is a bad look. read more

The worst barber/salon experience of my life. After an abysmal color job and a receipt that was approximately $100 over the quoted amount, I called the shop and asked if I could have a refund. They asked me to come in, which I did. After looking at my hair and the reference colors, Kasey (Casey?), the manager, agreed to a 50% refund and said it should show up in my bank account a few days later. One month later, no refund. After several attempts over four weeks, I finally got a hold of him. I asked why the refund hadn't come through--he immediately raised his voice, told me I should've gone to a more expensive salon if I wanted something closer to what I wanted, told me he didn't prioritize the refund because he "was too busy," and yelled that I needed to be quiet so he could speak. He then said he would refund just $30 of a $300+ buzzcut and bleach/tone, after previously agreeing to the 50% refund. I've never talked with someone so disrespectful and condescending. I strongly discourage anyone from Bishops for a haircut or color job. Terrible experience. read more

I had a really great experience getting my hair cut by Aspen today. My hair turned out just like the photos I showed her (a blunt bob), and the salon has nice products (Wella, evo). I made an appointment online yesterday, and my appointment started on time. It can feel impossible to find a reasonably priced haircut in Seattle, but the experience I received fairly correlated to the price of service. I highly recommend Bishops and Aspen! read more

I had a very good hair cut with Kalina in June. She was very communicative and cut my bangs a little at a time so they were exactly the right length. My haircut with Sage was not the same experience in the least. I asked for curtain bangs, an existing haircut which had grown out. I showed her the same reference photos and left with uneven straight across bangs. There was little communication, she cut my hair with the chair turned away from the mirror. By the time I saw my face it was too late. I'm truly disappointed that by the time this grows in enough to be fixed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years will all have passed. read more

Awfully unprofessional place. My husband came back with the worse haircut ever - it's ridiculous he can't even get out with this hair and looking for someone to fix his hair in the morning ! This is unacceptable. The hairstylist, she was not even able to regulate the water hot/ cold and while cutting the hair put the back edge of the scissor in my husband eye multiple times.
