Did not start off great with the receptionist who was a bit snooty and seemed unaffected by working with an actual customer. (You know, the kind that walks their wallets into your shop.) Felt like I was lucky to be talking to her. Maybe I should have taken the hint. Got a recommended cutter for my style of cut. She looked me over and we booked an appointment. First one was cancelled. Rebooked. Second one was cancelled. Rebooked. Third one was cancelled. Time to try another cutter. Next try was with a guy who did fair work but didn't listen well or follow my guidelines. When I suggested the next time we might want to stick with what we talked about, he insisted I was wrong. Bad move. Next! Next try was with a gal who seemed nice, but as I found out later was pushing fake conversation, as if I wouldn't notice how she blazed through my cut in record speed. When I asked for an adjustment, I got to experience her poor attitude in spades! The receptionist though it would be helpful to tag in. Not! These people seem poorly trained in how to handle customer service. Cutting hair, or working on cars, or painting or decorating, etc, are all about more than just slamming through the work as fast as you can while ignoring the needs, desires and / or concerns of the customer. Quality takes time. Customers are a privilege to work with and deserve your paitience and respect when they are hiring you to work for them to accomplish a job. Spoke with someone calling themselves the local manager, but found out why the staff is so poorly trained. Aggressive. Lacking any manner of humility or humanity. Regional customer service was much better, but said they have little control over the individual stores. Leave this high speed chop shop and find a place where they genuinely behave as though they care about you. read more

Been a longtime Bishops customer in Portland and Bend, but that ended today. Bree the hair stylist that I had never met before was a bit cranky when I walked in and told me "I must be her next appointment." Upon sitting down she asked " what length of hair" I said I wasn't sure and there might be some notes on last as I haven't ever been asked what clipper in the past. She said " we don't take notes, I don't believe you, you are lying." I responded calmly that I didn't feel comfortable with the way she was treating me and she got angry and starting raising her voice " get out, get out and don't come back" I asked for the manager and she said "the manager I s Lacey, and she was calling her now to tell her I wasn't allowed at Bishops ever again." I asked could she tell me why she was so upset I didn't know my hair cut length or why I was being banned from Bishops. She said "get out now". As a longtime 10 year customer I'm shocked and trying to find a way to reach Lacey and explain what occurred and I was concerned Bree is having a really bad day. read more

Michelle destroyed my hair up worse than osama bin Ladin destroyed the twin towers on 9-11. she cut the back of my ears with the razer leaving marks, she didnt say a word to me or talked to me. She cut all my hair off when i told her the size i wanted and showed her a picture. Only good part about this place is EVERYONE ELSE. the lady at the counter was sweet and gave nice conversation. At the end of my service i went to the desk looked at the cashier told her that this haircut makes me actually want to kill myself and she tried helping and comforting me. DO NOT GO HERE!! When I first walked in I was there three minutes early and the receptionist asked if I had an appointment i told her yes and the she said in an annoyed tone "ok someone will be with you shortly" then rolled her eyes and just left. Once the barber came like six minutes later I showed him a picture of the hair I wanted, and he said ok I can do that. A couple miners into the cut he said how much do you want off the back i told him just a little to make it even and texturize it. then he proceeded to take almost half of my hair back there off and way to muck off the top. When the cut was done it looked absolutely nothing like the photo to the extent you couldn't even tell it was the same hair cut. That want even the wort part thought and the whole place was just not great! read more

This is my 4th time coming to this place, I brought a picture with me like I do every time to show them what I wanted. As I sat down I heard the buzzing of the clippers. I stopped her more than 3 times to show her the picture. Because she obviously wasn't getting it. Her excuse was "your hair is not as curly as the guy in the photo" I'm not sure what that has to do with what she did to my hair. It's not like I didn't have enough hair for the cut I wanted. Not only did she get the purple out, she gave me the exact, spot on color I was looking for. Let me tell ya folks, that ain't easy! Pretty much no one has ever been as accurate as her! I had a mishap with boxed hair dye. I tried to impulsively bleach my hair and it came out yellow and patchy. I luckily didn't even have to wait and was led straight to the chair. Rachel was super nice and did a great blend that made my hair look so much more natural. She totally fixed it! The gal in the front was also supportive and didn't make me feel silly for trying to do my hair myself and make a total mess of it. Everyone was very nice! I'm lukewarm about Bishops. My kids like the place and have their haircut there pretty regularly. I went for the first time today to try them out. It's a nice, swanky place - a chain, but a chain with personality. Full service. My beef is with the service. It's not awesome. You sign in, inevitably there is a wait. I guess wait times can be a little hard to manage and get right, but we always have to wait and wait longer than expected. And I don't think they are going to be winning the "friendly badge". The gal I got today didn't even say "hi"? Called my name, I followed her and there was no greeting. In fact, aside from calling my name she didn't speak to me until she had my cape on and hair brushed out. Weird. Almost every time we have been in, we have been standing at the counter while staff whom appear to not be with clients don't help us? Always have to stand around for a few minutes before someone takes the time to check in with us. I think that the staff at here thinks they are cooler than their customers. And I guess they are cooler than me, the trick is not letting me know. I got a good cut, happy with the results. My kids have always been happy with their cuts and color. So, quality haircut with sub-par customer service. Really reasonable prices, so maybe that's the trade on the service? read more

They do good work but the appointment system they use is bugged and does not allow for changes when emergencies come up. It was 2am when I realized the time. Apologized in the morning and instead of understanding all I got was "well I was up late too....", "well I'm here today...," and "you were my first appointment..." And all I could think was: "Your booked solid through the week, I rescheduled after I could not get in yesterday, had an emergency, and now you are passively aggressively trying to make me feel as bad as possible over something I had no control. instead of just being a professional about it and moving on. I called her out on it, and she denied being mad. These guys were my go to for the last couple of haircuts until this. Don't trust people that try to put you on the defensive. If your not going to be a professional, then go all the way and tell me exactly why your pissed. Maybe I'll make it up to you. At least then you were honest. I moved to Central Oregon in August. In late August, I walked in and I got a terrific color! Over a month later and the color still looks great. (I apologize but I do not remember this stylist's name). Just yesterday, needing a cut, I walked in to Bishops on a Saturday. Shannon gave me a really cute cut, and totally "got" what I was looking for. She asked me questions to make sure I was getting what I envisioned, and was super fun to talk to. I was 100% pleased with the cut. I walked out looking great! I have had two very positive experiences at Bishops, and I got a bargain. With my busy life, Bishops is convenient, reasonably priced, and you get quality service. read more

Very disappointed in the entire experience I & my friend had at this establishment earlier this month.We were met with an empty front desk and complete ingnorance from every staff member on hand. A young man who smelled strongly of marijuana eventually wandered out of the back and told us the wait is 20-30 minutes. An hour later we were both finally seated and I requested a very light dead end trim to which they interpreted as take a few inches off. My friend had her layers touched up and ended up what she called 'cartoon Christmas tree' angles. Needless to say, we both called our hairdressers back home for emergency appointments later that same afternoon. I wish there was a zero rating. I went into bishops to have my hair colored and cut. The entire process took FIVE HOURS. I first had them cut my hair into an above-the-shoulder length bob and then asked for the highlights for my ends. It took them THREE 1/2 hours to get my highlights finished. And they charged me $80.00 per hour for this simple service. It was also not disclosed to me that I would be charged separate for my haircut. I did not have a drastic color change, and I simply cannot believe how long it took. In the end I was charged $320 for my hair to simply be cut into a bob and highlighted! I've been to other Bishops and I guess it all boils down to the actual hairdresser you get. The younger gal I drew on this mediocre occasion did just that, a mediocre hack job. Felt super rushed, in and out, classic wham bam. Didn't get offered a beverage, which let's be honest, is what draws most people to Bishops in the first place. Awful! Show up, not to many people waiting. "It will be 30-40 minutes". Ok, not great but I was a walk in. Go grab a beer across the street and come back 20 minutes later. Wait for another 40 minutes and ask where I am on the list. "It should only be about 20 more minutes". So, almost 1.5 hours to get an overpriced haircut! My last visit to a Bishops was horrible and the only reason I tried here is because it is very hard to find a decent men's haircut in Bend that doesn't work bankers hours and takes most weekends off. My daughter and I came for haircuts. I came in to get my mohawk straightened and shave face and head, trim for my daughters first haircut no styling. Paid $102.00 plus ten dollar tip total $112. Went home after eating lunch with my daughter styled my hair and noticed my lines were not clean or straight and too narrow to fix properly. Pissed off after spending so much money and growing my hair out for the past 9 months I cut it off and reshaved my head. Not only that but on top of this I asked for a shave thinking straight razor for $50.00 bucks, now after she gets done fucking up my mohawk and preps for shave, then pulls out a mach 3 razor to proceed with shave.
