The ladies at the salon were amazing, and even though we were late, they still took us in and did an amazing job on both of our hairs. They answered all of our questions and were so kind, and was very precise with our hair, not rushing it at all! Thank you for the response. I've been buying my wife gift certificates each winter holiday for over the past 10 years. What Megan Sedres provided my wife was not even close to customer service. Although I wholeheartedly don't agree with your "policies" I do understand them. I also understand that there is a time and a place to take a hard line and when to compromise. Megan Sedres chose wrong...hence, you chose wrong. Your response shows a lack of understanding as to the situation and its tenets. I could agree with it for most people but I know my wife and so do many other people in this area. You didn't do your due diligence to contact her before (reminder call/text) or during her missed appt time. If it is a 3-hour block there was plenty of time for you all to reach out but you didn't. With regard to charging people X% of their expected service for a missed appt, that's a whole different discussion altogether. Make a policy that you all will call/message people a day prior as a 'courtesy' to remind them of their appt otherwise you will be forced to charge them a % of your over-priced services. We will happily take our business elsewhere and not direct business in your direction. Again, it was Megan Sedres' approach as well as yours that is so off-putting. read more

They booked an appointment with me five days ago at 4:15 PM. we texted each other back and forth for time to confirm the appointment. When I arrived there on time, my hairdresser told me that she's behind 20 minutes. She advised me to walk around in downtown. I wasn't happy to hear that, but I said I will wait 15 minutes later. She's telling me that sorry about waiting if I want I can reschedule another appointment.???? I thought I waited 15 minutes. I can wait five more minutes but her answer was very unprofessional. She was saying I have to wait 20 more minutes to finish the other haircut. She didn't looking or act sorry or offer any apology... Very unprofessional place, they are very comfortable about wasting the other peoples time. they could call me and tell me that they are behind and I wou go later. instead of that they were asking me to wait 40 minutes extra. very unprofessional, very unethical. read more

My wife and I came to Bend on vacation and, while walking back to our car around 7 PM on Wednesday night, saw that this Salon featured feather extensions. Normally, by 7 PM any salon would be closed or well on the way to shutting down. Blue Star still had an employee working and there were two clients inside even though they were already slated to close. We, a walk in, were welcomed warmly and the employee in the shop (who's name we cannot recall - she was blonde, her husband was a brewmaster at Cascade Brewing) was more tha accomodating to our walk-in request. We chatted and waited for her to finish up with the other customers and, late into the evening, she installed my wife's selected hair feathers. At the end of it all, the awesome beauty purveyor offered my wife and I some of the delicious beer her husband brews - free of charge! Probably one of the best salon experiences we've ever had. I was visiting from the San Francisco Bay area and needed a cut and color. I have been relatively happy with my style and color but was absolutely delighted at the results at this salon. Loni is remarkable, and both the technical and customer service aspect of my visit was unparalleled. The atmosphere and the team are warm and welcoming (psst-top notch beer on tap!) and it all made for such a pleasant afternoon. I'm sorry to say I had a disappointing experience with Megan at Blue Star. I have curly hair and Megan came recommended from a gal that I stopped in the grocery store. We discussed what I wanted and I requested that the layers not start near my middle part and to not use the thinning shears. When I got home my layers started even with the top of my ear, so that when I put my head forward a huge section of my hair fell forward. Also I asked her to please chunk the bottom of my bangs and showed her a picture. I told her that I wear my bangs thin showing her where they started on my front hairline. Instead my bangs were thinned out and cut even. She was not very talkative , which made me nervous and I was not offered anything to drink. I hope she was just having a bad day. read more

Jessica is fantastic with providing great cuts and have been seeing her since she first started at Blue Star. Sadly , it is now difficult to get an appointment, getting a call back is rare and the personalized attention is gone . Don't be surprised if you are getting a cut and your stylist stops what she is doing to answer the phone to take other appointments and you are sitting ...and waiting to resume your cut/ color etc.Also, the owner next to her will make unpleasant comments about your preference on hair cut or whatever else that's displeasing her. I can't believe how accommodating this salon is! I go to Jessica , who is fabulous, but found out due to an immediate surgery, I needed to get a short hair cut. Jessica talked to the other stylists and told me if anyone had a cancellation that I would receive a call. I received a call from Rod and sure enough he had a cancellation. Now that's what I call "EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE". I also had Jessica do a color correction and she took my hair from a brassy gold self colored for years look to a natural color that looks amazing. I was recently married at Black Butte Ranch. Jessica was recommendedy by the ladies at the MAC counter in Macy's and she went above and beyond to create a bridal hairstyle I loved. I didn't think I would be particular. I just wanted an up-do for my veil, but as she began working I realized I wanted more of this and less of that, etc. Jessica delightfully accommodated every request and I ended with a style I absoluted loved. It was better than the Pinterest picture we started with! Jessica even drove to Black Butte Ranch and did my hair at the ceremony site which was a real time-saver and so convenient for the bride and bridal party. If you are planning a destination wedding to Central Oregon or just need your hair done, I cannot reccomend this salon or Jessica more highly. One very satisfied customer. read more

I've been cutting my own hair since high school (Yes I'm a dude). Every once and a while I decide to try to get it professionally cut and I'm always disappointed. This is the first time I've been happy with someone else cutting my hair and they gave me a beer. Loni is the best and the cost is reasonable compared to some other places I've tried. Blue Star is my new favorite salon in Bend! I just moved here a while back and was looking to get my hair cut shorter after a bad break up (I know, kinda stereotypical but I needed a change, haha!) I had originally booked an appointment somewhere else, but while exploring the art walk downtown, I stumbled upon Blue Star and was swayed by the considerably lower prices. Also- this place is super cute, and everyone in there was very accommodating and helpful. I canceled my other appointment and got my cut at Blue Star and it was beautiful! I have liked my haircuts from here, but I can NEVER get in any more! They clearly advertise "Walk-Ins Welcome" but after 3 different attempts at walk-in I gave up. My work schedule is very last minute so it's hard to make appointments. However, I did call on Tuesday to make an appointment for Saturday - nope, full. Can't fit me in. Ok, what about Friday afternoon any time 4 p.m. or after. Nope, nothing available then either! VERY FRUSTRATING! Based on the favorable reviews, I decided to try Julie for a haircut. I am so glad I did! She is a very pleasant, perky woman (who might like to chat just a bit too much for my taste) but she knows hair! My hair is not easy to cut or style and she managed to do both better than anyone has in years! She knows how to cut bangs perfectly. Julie is truly talented and passionate about her work. I have been to this salon twice and had my hair done by Jessica. The first time was a 3+ hour appointment for a cut and color. After she had put the color on my hair (I go darker so it was all over, not even foils) I sat on the couch and she told me 45 minutes. Around the 30 minute mark another client came in and she began dying her hair so I was on the couch with color on for an hour and a half. After this ridiculously long appointment I went home and when my mom came in to get her nails done by someone else in the salon Jessica apologized to her that my appointment took so long. Never an apology to me. So I went in a second time thinking she would treat me in a timely matter. I was wrong. I began my appointment at 1:15 and I had color on by 1:45. Yet again Jessica brought in another appointment. She washed the color out at 3:10 (almost an hour and a half later) I then paid and left the salon with wet hair and no cut. I had a wonderful first experience at Blue Star Salon. My stylist Dona was able to translate my wishes and turn it into a great new hairstyle. The salon itself was very clean and modern. The price was reasonable, and my overall experience was very pleasant. My 10 year-old daughter was with me, and she enjoyed reading the large selection of current magazines with drinking a complementary Izze soda in comfortable chairs. I'll be sure to go here again. I am shocked that there are so many positive reviews on this salon. I have never been treated so rudely and provided with such horrible service ever in a salon or any other public establishment for that matter. Not to mention the horrible service but the quality of hair cut was horrible. I wanted so badly to like this salon as it is in a convenient location for me and but instead I will be strongly encouraging people who are kind and care about their hair to run the other direction. I wouldn't pay $5 to get my hair cut here. The level of professionalism is very poor. Further they have a sign up that says walk ins welcome and although I had an appointment, there were walk ins while I was there that were told they couldn't help them. Take down the sign if that's the case. Things must have gone down hill in the past year or so of this business since the only recent review is from a relative. read more
