If you frequent the other biryani franchises like Paradise, Persis, or Bawarchi , then Biryani Pot is worth a visit. We stopped by one Thursday evening and the place seemed to be buzzing with takeouts but was understaffed so we were told that they were not taking any dine-in customers which was disappointing. Having committed to the biryani dinner though led us to ordering a takeout and we got the goat pepper fry and a couple of biryanis to go. We were glad that we did! The goat was exceptional! Juicy, moist and cooked to perfection and slathered with a lot of spices. The pieces were mostly boneless and there were no pieces with chewy fat renderings that made it stand out from Paradise who we thought did the dry pepper fry spices fairly well but falls short on the quality of goat pieces that they use. The biryanis themselves were aromatic, flavorful, and had a freshness to it that made it stand apart from the others. The portion size was generous and meat to rice ratio better than the others. Served with a salan and yogurt that were par for the course. And packed in quality containers that sealed well! (Anyone doing Indian food takeouts must know first hand the perils of sauces jostling in containers that struggle to hold them back in!) We have been back there since and can say that the quality and taste has been consistent which is again a hard thing for most other restaurants to pull off lately. And we returned another weekday afternoon to sample their version of the thali available in lieu of lunch buffets I assume - we got the goat ($15) and the chicken ($13) as our optional biryanis. The rest of the thali had a veg app (cut mirchi), a meat app (a delicious chicken dry masala) , a dal, a chicken entree, a dessert, salan, raitha, a papad and a freshly made naan/roti. And of course the pot of biryani that we struggled to finish and eventually took home! A very satisfying lunch indeed! Would recommend if you are around during week days and given how few options are left in that area. Finally the ambience - not much to write about. Bare essentials. Clean. Functional. Good. It was one of those days when I wanted to have 'hot and sour soup' and this seemed the only restaurant available in the neighborhood serving it and unfortunately we went for it!! And, It was a mistake, a complete disaster!! We were disappointed with the food but I was compelled to put in a review as to me few things I feel is just wrong- diced peas and carrots with few chicken pieces in a thick Manchurian kinda soy sauce base gravy is not a hot and sour soup.sorry!! Better to not have something on a menu if it's no where close to the dish it's suppose to be. And to top it off it had too much of vinegar and chilli powder making it not edible. BEWARE! The food was mediocre to the best. Make sure you check the receipt and the amount charged to your card. They didn't even tell me the total amount, just asked for the payment and charged me 25% more than what it should have been. It was a to go order. Unable to estimate the time an order takes to be ready. When they know you are waiting for your order, they forward your call to voicemail. Discovered this by calling to check on my order (as I'm still sitting outside in my car 25 minutes after the time they asked me to be there)... called on a different phone and the call was picked right up. Initially told 40 minutes for 3 dishes... Ultimately waited an hour and 10 minutes. We have been waiting for a while to get authentic Hyderabadi food at a nearby place so that we can avoid the trek to Oaktree rd, Edison. Our wait was over when this place was opened. First time here. We came in for dinner. Quiet and simple place but clean, which is something I'm always concerned about in Indian restaurants. We got the crispy pepper corns and the boneless chicken Biryani. BOTH were delicious though the spice level could be a little lower. And this place is a BYOB one. I have been here twice two weeks ago and today and the food is average the service was good so I wrote a tip amount and the server asked cash as otherwise the owner takes all tips and never give it to the servers. Went here the other night at about 9pm. The food was good. We ordered vegetable biryani-spicy hot. It was not hot. Maybe they thought we couldn't handle it but that was a bit disappointing. It was otherwise tasty according to those who ate it, I did not. We also ordered malai Kofta. They gave 3 large kofta which were larger than at other restaurants. They were very flavorful and the sauce had a nice delicate flavor. I personally don't like hot so we ordered it medium. It had no heat but I was okay with that since the sauce was very flavorful and plentiful. We also ordered plain naan so the extra sauce was perfect for eating with the Naan. The service was good and we got served a pitcher of water so we disnt have to get constant water refills; that was appreciated. We were from out of town so this turned out to be a good spot for not knowing what to expect. 4 stars because they didn't honor our spice request. read more

I visited this restaurant on its opening day. Service was friendly and I was well-attended, and I was even offered a free beverage- a sweet and pulpy watermelon drink. I ordered Butter Chicken as well as garlic naan for takeout. While the chicken was excellent, I do have to say that by the time my meal reached home (in about 15 min), the cream and oil separated, and I opened my container to see cream and chicken drowning in a swamp of red oil- this was pretty unappealing, and I've never see that before. I am not sure what caused that. Still, after fishing out the chicken and drying it off, it was not bad, just disappointing that I had to go through all that trouble. read more

Total waste of money. The AC wasn't working and the staff was understaffed ( go figure). Our food came in sections. We ordered two biryanis and these cheapos only gave us one small curd bowl when each order comes with 1. We ordered three entrees and each entree comes with rice once again these cheapos gave us only 2 bowls. The water was warm and we requested ice water ( you would think with no ac they can give us cold water- na). Worst place. I asked the waiter to call the manager and he said he's no here. The other waiters were exchanging dirty looks and they were sitting there the whole time. So I requested to speak to him on the phone. Of course he wasn't answering. I am embarrassed to have gone here. These guys had such poor customer service. I literally am not recommending this to anyone infact I am telling everyone to stay away.
