As always the food is very good but for a few issues on the Decor has gotten better over the years, but there are unfinished dry wall in areas. Service was bad before and has t gotten any better. The young girl that came to serve us spoke no English and was bad and Hindi. I speak both and she couldn't talk our order. Another waiter rushed over to help. While the parathas were fresh, everything else was microwaved to heat. This does kill the taste of the food in the platters. Table water is not free. They charge you and provide bottled water. They charge a 12% service charge. And 3% charge to pay by credit card. Sadly, while the paratha are excellent, it is not worth the added cost. I'm writing this as a common review for both the Iselin and East Windsor Khasiyat locations, as everything is excellent and standard when it comes to the quality/taste of the food and the customer service. Haven of Parathas - that's how I'd like to call this place. They have numbered their variety of parathas from 1-100 that you can literally play a game of closing your eyes, pointing your finger randomly over a point on the menu card and order that number of paratha. We usually order couple of parathas and a chaat item whenever we visit a Khasiyat. Hands down, they have the best parathas in town. How could someone consistently make the best parathas when they have a large array of choices to pick from?! They are business smart and environment friendly when it comes to the plates and cups they use. They don't give your dishes in porcelain or plastic but they use hard paper/wood material that's easy for them to dispose. But the downside is the size of those plates or cups. You have a very small circumference to work through your hands on the dishes and it's not an ideal experience when you eat. I'm not sure if this will reach the business for them to consider and improve but this is the reason I rate this place a star lesser. read more

Overall, pretty good food but unfortunately poor service. I have not dined in here because to be honest, the inside decor looks rather casual and unfinished. As other reviewers have shared, the decor over the years has improved slightly, but I can't say this would be the play to go for ambiance. And in the setting of the many Indian restaurants in NJ, if you are looking for vibes, dining here would not provide that. As for the food, Khasiyat is known for their parathas and they are always good but definitely challenging to have for takeout. I am actually a bigger fan of their khasta kachori which comes in a generous portion and can be taken to-go with the components separated. Unfortunately, the challenge here is related to service. There have been many times that I have called in ahead of time to place an order for pickup and despite arriving at their recommended time, the food is not ready and I have waited up to an additional 15-20 minutes. I was craving chaat but didn't feel like driving all the way to Mithaas so my mom and I came here instead. My mom warned me that the chaat isn't that good, but I was like "how do you mess up dahi puri?". Well, this is the place to go if you want to find out. If I could I would just give 0 rating to this place. The whole experience is horrible here because the service and the staff taking order is rude and downright disrespectful. I called to place a take out order and apparently their menu is changed which they claim is on their website. Their website is not even on the first page when you search on google. Then this guy proceeds to ask me ingredients of my paratha which I didn't remember so I told him I will look it up and he yelled at me and hung up. I WOULD NEVER COME TO THIS PLACE. Even when the old menu was still valid they would always mess up my order and parathas and given I was driving an hour to eat here makes me feel really sad. Ordered for takeout. Dahi puri was very tasty (though kinda soggy of course by the time we got it home). My parents liked the chole bhatura well enough, and they liked the filling in my masala dosa (I ate mostly the dosa part which had a good spongey texture and wasn't so much a fan of the filling since it was spicy and had lots of cilantro which I don't like). Since this place is known for parathas (they have 100 kinds! Granted some seem like odd ingredient combinations lol) we also tried the paneer mattar paratha (stuffed with peas & dry crumbled paneer). Khasiyat is an Indian fast food type establishment with sit down seating. They specialize in Parathas an Indian bread that is traditionally stuffed with potatoes, radish, or cauliflower. At this restaurant, you can find over 100 variations of stuffed parathas. And if none of those suit you fancy, feel free to customize your own with up to 5 ingredients. Each one is priced at $7. I grew up eating parathas, so my expectations are higher than most, since my mother is an amazing cook. The ones served here are good, but I found that they were falling apart easily. They should hold together a little better. We also tried a few other dishes including a dosa (south Indian) and chole bhature (North Indian specialty). The chole were fine, but the bhature was no were close to what you would find in North Indian cooking. The service staff seemed a bit disconnected and considering there was only one other party in the restaurant, they were not very busy. Khasiyat has been in East Windsor for several years, being the 2nd location of the long time Indian vegetarian fast food eatery on Oak Tree Road in Edison. While it is labeled as fast food & the interior of the place doesn't scream ambiance, the food they serve up is delicious. I haven't dined in, but done take out multiple times. Despite an extensive menu, their specialty which they're known for is the variety of parathas. We usually go with the lunch & dinner combo (4.5/5), which is a great way to try out a bunch of their food items, including the parathas. It comes with choice of bread (parathas, puri, or roti), a dal dish (dal makhani or dal masoor), 2 vegetarian dishes of the day (one is usually paneer), rice, and raita/pickle. They rotate the vegetarian dishes enough to keep things different from day to day. Although they're not known for their dosa, they do a great job with the preparation as the masala dosa (4.5/5) we order hits all the right notes & is among the best in the area. We've also ordered the samosa chaat (4/5), which is decent, but tends to get a bit soggy & falls apart when you do take out. We ordered appetizers catering for a house party of about 25+ adults and about 15+ kids. We ordered about 30 kachoris chat with the chutneys, etc. separate and a large tray of mix veg pakoda. The kachoris were very delicious and there were generous amount of green and red chutney, yogurt, sev and onions. Took off one star for the mix veg pakoda. When I ordered I was told that it'll be a combination of onion, spinach, potato and mirchi pakodas and typically that's how it is at other Indian chains in NJ. However, all of these pakodas were of similar kind with onion and spinach etc squeezed into one. Also, the batter was a little high on turmeric which gave it a slightly bitter taste and it could not be eaten without one of the chutneys which helped mask its flavor. read more

Khasiyat is known for their menu. The 100 types of Parathas on the menu was mind boggling. Food is pretty good and service is not bad. we've done take out couple of times from this place but this was our first time dining in at the place. We tried couple of different kinds of stuffed parathas and raj kachoris. food was good but it took them 30 mins to rbring the food out after the placing our order. They missed one of the item and we had to keep reminding our waiter to bring it out. Service was very slow and our waiter didn't seem to care at all. Considering the entire place was pretty much empty it shouldn't have taken them this long. Totally unacceptable. Cleanliness and decor could be so much better with simple minor changes as well. I thought it was a fairly new place but it has a very old feel to it. Boring decor with random bright colors doesn't help. Also, the tables were not clean and food was served in foam plates and plastic utensils. Also, 12% Gratuity fee was included by default for the party of 3. Any way 1) took order by 9:10 pm we had to ask the server what happen to our food at 9:45 when table around us was getting food who came after us, 2) wrong order we asked for chaat and we god chas (buttermilk) 3). Now for food tests and quality. Food was no way as good as Oak tree road. Food quality was ok just OK. I have been to Oak tree road and they know how to handle the rush much better then these guys, may be they need more staff to manage. 3) we had five members in our party who was fasting because of Ramadan and it made them really late to eat the food as you know they have not had any water and food all day Now for the good part the person who charged our card was really nice we talked to him and complain about our situation. This is a more of a carry out place with enough seating for those who come hungry and want food to eat. This is I think branch of another one in Iselin NJ. BEWARE - Food is good, BUT I LEFT WITH A BAD TASTE IN MOUTH ! At the checkout, the number I got seemed high. So, I questioned the cashier to confirm that the bill was for what I had ordered. He read the items from behind the counter looking at his screen, but did not give me a printed receipt and told me that I will get a printed receipt after I make the payment.
