They had Caldo de Pollo and it looked pretty good. I'm so freaking happy. I discovered this place. The soup was phenomenal. I really enjoyed the chips and salsa that were on the side, and the chicken broth was divine. You could truly taste the heart and the soup. It had giant chunks of zucchini, carrots, celery, and potatoes. There was a chicken thigh and a chicken leg with skin on and bone in at the bottom of my soup. The meat slide off the bone and was phenomenal. It came with tortillas on the side, a little container of rice to add into the soup, and a small container with cilantro, limes, and fresh diced onions. I'll definitely be going back soon. They had a full bar and the bartender was mixing up some delicious looking margaritas. I'll have to see if there any good next time!! It's raining today and I picked up my food around 3pm so it was pretty quiet in there. They have a small stage so I assume the place can get pretty exciting.

Just be careful coming in when the special fried shrimp or fried fish taco deal is going on because they cook in larger batches so they might be a little greasier than normal days. First, just like most casual Mexican restaurants you are greeted with house made salsa and chips to snack on while you study the menus for your meal. The salsa is very fresh and the chips are not, thank goodness, over salted. It's a perfect starter! I enjoyed the meal option of four chicken flautas with rice, beans, and perfectly portioned guacamole and sour cream. You are able to make your own choice of meat stuffing, which I love, knowing that the flautas are freshly made. I chose to have chicken and found it to be perfectly fried, not overly seasoned, which some places do. I like that you can actually taste the chicken and not just spice. I also had the horchata to drink, and I loved it! The service is wonderful, with many families flocking to the restaurant for that homemade feel for dinner. The staff has always been kind enough to offer a refill of your drink/soda to go if you wish. Kindness from the staff is a real highlight of Raul's. The ambiance of being at home is a plus for me. There is also plenty of parking spots located on the street and in the available parking lot located in the middle of Hawthorne Blvd. There is a television with captions on for those that are HOH, hard of hearing.
